Malsara the Emerald Plains
Home to the largest domestic livestock farms in all of Tristia. Malsara is refereed to as the Emerald Plains for one reason only, its forever lush, green and grassy plains. This country is not for the faint of heart. While the rolling hills are forever green, it is a harsh landscape where water is a much needed commodity. The winds here are cold and the skies are crystal blue because of the cold air that comes off the coast line that is not but fifty miles to the east. Malsara is also between the Trading Capital and the Mok'fro pass. Making it a great buffer zone between invaders from the west and the precious trading capital.
Area Traits
Emerald Ice Winds:
The winds here are like shards of ice that are thrown at the skin. This stems from the cold air that comes down from the mountains and the breeze that blows up from the ocean. The mixture is a very icy and cold wind that holds a slight salt content to it. This mixed with the usually always sunny skies helps to make a very luscious and rich soil base even though it doesnt rain very often here. And when it does, the rains can be very dangerous.
Rain of Shards:
The Emerald Ice Winds make another very dangerous condition here. The rain, also known as The Rain of Shards. When the people who live in this region begin to hunker down and prepare for the rain, it would be wise for all to take cover. The cold winds and salty winds create a mixture of very cold and sharp shards of ice that fall from the sky instead of rain. Like the monsoons in our world, these rains are dangerous and devastating. This is the reason that nothing but the tall, thick hearty grass that grows here. These shards of ice cut down and destroy most everything organic. Trees, bushes, anything that hasnt learned to or adapted to the conditions here do not survive for long. Even rock, steel and some of the imbued steel are vulnerable to the rain that falls here. Only the toughest of imbued steel has a chance to survive as well as the only indigenous species here, the Ko'locke with their ultra thick hide. Even these five story tall behemoths however fall pray to the Rain of Shards when it is a bad enough storm.
Emerald Plains:
The Emerald Plains, what Malsara is known for. The rolling green hills that span miles and miles are an impressive sight when someone first comes upon them. The tall, thick grass that grows here stands between three to six feet in some areas. And this grass can be about four to six inches in width. This grass here is packed with nutrition and vitamins which is why the massive Ko'lorcks are bred and raised here. The Emerald Plains are the only place that these beasts can be bred and raised because of their size and metabolism.
McIssac Ranch:
The McIssac Ranch is is one of the largest ranches in the Emerald Plains. The McIssac's are one of the wealthiest families that live in the Emerald Plains and as such they have the largest plots of lands. They have a very well protected ranch/town that accommodates everyone and anyone that they find or that finds them. The all one story buildings are made with five inch thick walls and roofs made of special imbued metals that make them highly resistant to the Rain of Shards.
Their large herding platforms that float about twenty feet in the air behind the Ko'lorcks, keeping them, moving and safe as well as an ever watchful eye out for people who are lost and in need of help. While sometimes these platforms are unmanned, they do accommodate a safety room that can house up to twenty people comfortably with an automated medical room that can treat most any basic wound.
