Origin: Back in her home universe, there came a day when aliens, the Kyrackackackee, invaded. Kate's world was shattered and she and her friends fled the oncoming front. At that time, they were still normal. After a few months of traveling, they came to a military bunker. They and other refugees were taken in and given food and water. That night, they fell asleep and woke up several weeks later. Kate and her friends now had superpowers and wings. The experiment that gave them their powers was the first of its kind to work. The four of them were then sent out to take on the invading forces. They defeated the aliens soundly, which led to an alliance. During this time, the four became known as the Defenders. Soon, others began to try to replicate the experiment and Shadow came onto the scene. Shadow worked for an agency that wanted to take full advantage of the reinventing world to take it for themselves. Shadow kidnapped one of the Defenders, but she convinced him to set her free and to fake his death to escape his servitude. When the agency learned he was still alive, they sent out a new assassin to take him down. Shadow was gravely injured, but by channeling their powers into him, he survived with new powers. He could now control the space-time continuum to an extent and became a full member of the Defenders. A year later, a terrorist group began to target Kate calling her an "evil demon." After a close call that nearly killed her, the Defenders decided it was best for Magma to leave for a while for her own saftey while they took care of the group. Shadow(now called Vortex) sent her to this dimension, but from the wrong point on the timeline. The Kate sent came from before Vortex's powers changed, and her absence nearly caused their universe to collapse upon itself because of the time paradox. Vortex managed to call her back and repair the damage done and sent the proper Magma to this dimension, who is here now. She moved to the city after some neighbors complained about her random comings and goings at her old apartment in a different city.
