Let's just say I am a very religious person.
Today, my sister said the Lords Name in Vain, and then said a bunch of stuff that is against the TOS of gaia. I said, "Don't say that." I didn't care about the other words, only God. She shouted out, Shut the hell up, I don't give a damn! That offended me, being all religious. I thought. Well then go to Hell if you don't give a damn.. And then I was going to say something, and the rest of my family, who goes to Church every Sunday, was against me for sticking up for God. This really made me angry.
What should I have said?

She's probably pressing your buttons on purpose, siblings tend to do that. I'd vent, get it out of my system, move on with life. It won't stay under your skin unless you let it.

Now you see that's where I differ with you there Lateralus es Helica, I'de use an old tecnic I learned way back. Basically you treat your sister really nicely, making her regret ever being mean like that in the first place. My mom calls it Heaping coals of fire on their heads. It's also a short stroy, that I had to study at one time. That's what I'de do at home, if you still are having trouble forgiving her you can always talk to your pastor about it. It helps when you have friends to talk to. You know I kind of had the same thing happen with me and my brother, but my Mom and dad stuck up for my side. More than likely your sister got to your parrents first and told them some lie to get her out of trouble, Not saying that's what happened, just a theary. I guess the best thing you could do is walk over her saying ' I love you' the hole way through. You know I have a funny story about when I told someone off about using the lords name in vain.
Ok it was the 4th of july and My brother and i wanted to go get fireworks. The thing is my mom had put my hair in curlers since we where going to go to a family get together. But I went to the firework stand with my hair full of them, and even though I was embarassed my ear caught the sound of some Big, Burly, Red Neck looking, Guy Taking the Lords name in vain. Man I jumped on him like a duck on a june bug... Oops My mom came out for a moment sweatdrop My dad was so proud of me standing up for God he bought way more Fireworks than we could pop at the Family get together.
this is just a personal note, I'm actually The First and Second Grade Sunday teacher at my Church. And I'm only 20 wink

*shrug* I'm so used to misconceptions about my religion that unless someone's Sangha or familiar with Zen/Taoism just about everything I hear is a blatant mistruth or "You'll burn in hell with your brainwashing" type of deal. You quickly learn that some battles just aren't worth it.

Just ignore your... sister. She'll eventually stop if she realizes that you don't even notice her.

Which one?
Anyways.
I agree (with Miz). When my brother gets on my nerves, like saying something like, "You are such a b***h!" I said, "Thanks. I should really learn to listen to you. I really should be as nice as you." he gets really confused.

About sticking up for God....I think this is something that A LOT of Christians tend to fall into. For one thing, God doesn't need us to stick up for him. He's big enough in himself to take anything! But that's not to say we shouldn't tell someone they're being disrespectful....I just think it's a trap we fall into when we try to hard to defend God and our beliefs that well....it ends up being about defending our beliefs. And often doing a BAD job of that too. It isn't worth it to be right about something if you let yourself say things that are wrong in the process. Like...."Fine, you can just go burn in Hell!" is something that we've all wanted to say before. It's something that my parents have told me before. But I'm pretty sure it's NOT something Jesus would have been saying to someone. Tell someone they're behaving against God, but don't yell and start thinking bad things about them. Cause eventually you're not trying to help them become a better Christian, you're arguing your own point. Haha, and just besides the sermon I just typed out I'd say that ignoring your sister and letting her cool down for a while might be best. I've freaked at my siblings before when I had a ton of stuff going on they had no idea about, and they didn't deserve quite as much as I gave them. Maybe just give her her own space for a while.

Yeah, that's true. God can do anything to her! she should know that. Plus, she sounds like she's being rude to you for doing that. Look at the Beatitudes. One says, "Blessed are those who are Persecuted because of me, for those is the kingdom of Heaven." Right?
