T w I s T s &InspirationIf you haven't seen the movie Labyrinth, a film directed by Jim Henson and released to the public in 1986, I suggest you watch it. This roleplay was inspired by that movie and one of my friends that tends to draw rather complex mazes during class. In the movie, a fifteen-year-old girl named Sarah accidentally wishes her baby half-brother, Toby, away to the Goblin King, Jareth, who will turn Toby into a goblin and keep him forever if Sarah does not complete his Labyrinth within 13 hours. The Labyrinth is not a simple maze; the pathways and openings in the walls of the maze change intermittently and are riddled with logic puzzles and tests. At its entrance, Sarah finds Hoggle, a curmudgeonly dwarf, killing fairies with a fly spray; she bribes him with her plastic jewelry to lead her through the maze. Although he helps Sarah, it is later revealed that he is working for Jareth. Sarah acquires other companions along the way: Sir Didymus, a chivalrous, fox-like knight, and Ludo, a gentle beast she rescues from a horde of Jareth's goblins. T w I s T s &StoryHave you ever had so much in common with someone that it was scary? Well, that's how it is for four best friends. Other than being in four different parts of the high school food chain, they're inseperable and exactly alike. There's the Jock, Darling, Bookworm and Goth. The four friends have been besties since first grade. Although they're in differen tlevels of the food chain, they share everything. Especially their family situations. Their parents have always told them stories of the horrible Ghoul King that dominates all monsters, ghosts and othe rmystical creatures, but he also owns a huge Labyrinth. It is said that if one utters the words 'I wish the Ghoul King would take you away right now!' that he will do so to whoever the words are said to. The teens, of course, don't believe this rumor, so they utter the words. The Jock utters the words to his Mother. The Darling to her Father. The Bookworm to her Older Brother. And the Goth to his Younger Brother. The friends utter the words to their family members all within a week of each other, and all four, the Mother, Father, Older Brother and Younger Brother are all found missing by the end of that week. No one in the family knows what has happened, but the four teenagers have their suspects. Now, a year later, the four friends awake in front of the Labyrinth. At first, they all assume it's a dream- until they see the creatures their parents have told them about. Unicorns, Zombies, Gryffins, and other muderous mystical creatures seem to be waiting for them at the beginning of the Labyrinth. A Unicorn who introduces himself as Dane approaches them and tells them, "You have been sent for. Your family members are missing you terribly. You have twenty-four hours to make it to the Ghoul King's Castle at the Center of the Labyrinth. Have of us creatures are to aid you, half to kill you. Best of luck." And the creatures disappear. He is the idol of the school. Along with being very stunning to look at, he is very athletic. He is captain and quarterback of the high school football team, but he keeps his roots strong. He is very honest and kind, and he doesn't ever forget about his three best friends. He is a great person to hang around with.
The Darling -- Reserved
She is the school's rich girl. Her father's father struck oil and found an old gold mine at the age of 25. This wealth has given her diamonds and Coach purses. Although she may look rude and stuck up, she's a very lively and loving girl. Beware, though, she does have a bit of a temper and hates being judged by others.
The Bookworm -- Reserved
She is a very quiet and shy girl. Everyone believes she's a bit of a weirdo, but she's very smart and sweet. Though a bit anti-social. She tends to be awkward and becomes embarrassed very easily. Ever since her Older Brother disappeared, she's become more quiet and a bit depressed, but she's still very sweet.
The Goth -- Taken
He's a very dark person. Other than the three, he has no friends. He's always dressed in black and is a real troublemaker. His reputation is not only goth, but dangerous and unknown by all. But, mind you, he isn't stupid. After his Younger Brother diappeared, he took a Vow of Silence and refuses to speak until his brother is found. He hans't uttered a single word in a year. ☠ Death I'd rather not dwell on it, but I'll tell you anyways. Lupe was a pretty nice kid when it all started out. He had a big family, two step-parents and four older sisters- along with a younger brother. He was raised being quite spoiled, since his parents weren't rich but nor were they poor. About the time he turned ten was when it all went bad. His mother and step-father were killed in an accident along with two of his oldest sisters. After that, he and his two older sisters that remained, Juliet and Romiette, and his little brother, Romeo, went to live with their now-gay father and his partner. The two men were amazingly sweet to Lupe's siblings, but not to Lupe. They blamed him for the death of his family since he was also in the car and managed to escape with just a busted collarbone. They dubbed him a 'devil-child' and sent him away to a military school for all of his middle school years. A few years before, he'd met the three kids he called friends. They were sad to see him go, but overjoyed when he returned. By the time he returned, he was a freshman along with his buddies. He turned into a rebel his freshman year, tending to wear all black clothes. His fathers were very unhappy with this behavior and got onto him more and more often. It was just the four men in the house then, since Lupe's sisters had moved out. That was about the time that his fathers started turning bad, also. they started to argue a bunch and they would also go out, get drunk and come home. They would yell at little Tommy, but Lupe would take the beatings. This went on till Lupe was a junior. He cracked that year. The rebellious teen beat both his fathers in return for their problems, which had made him unable to sleep, only to be taken away and placed in a mental institution. He was diagnosed with both chronic insomnia and schitzophrenia. Neither one of these cases bothered him all that much, so he and Tommy moved in with their older sister, Juliet. Juliet was very sweet and loving, but she babied Tommy, leaving Lupe to fence for himself. He reached another breaking point and asked the Ghoul King, whom he had heard stories of, to take his brother away. Little did he know that the Ghoul King did so. That wasa year ago. Lupe, after a week of searching for his brother, gave up. He made a Vow of Silence, refusing to speak a single word until his brother was found. And he hasn't said a word since. He now carries a pad of paper around in his back pocket, along with a Sharpie. It's hard to get Ash angry, but, when you do, he does have a temper and isn't afraid to defend himself or the people close to him. Though, normally, he is a very caring and honest guy. He is very true to his friends and is always there for them. He is also very athletic and determined, once his mind is set on soemthing, it's hard to change it. Ash is also very close to his family and will sometimes cancel plans with his friends or teammates if his family needs him. All in all, he's a very honest, sweet, and caring guy. ☠ Never finding his motherI'd rather not dwell on it, but I'll tell you anyways. Ash is the eldest of his family, with only a younger three year-old sister as a sibling. He was raised mainly by his father, since his mother was often at work. His father ran a business from home and was able to be their for Ash. It was his father who gave Ash his first baseball and, ever since then, Ash has been into sports. He was a natural form day one and was the star of his little league baseball team. As he grew older, Ash began to play even more sports. He played baseball, football, basketball, ice hockey, you name it. It was a special thing between Ash and his father. His father practiced with him at home and took him toe every game. His mother was very supportive too, but her job normally kept her form attending games. When Ash was sixteen, his father passed away from a heart attack. That left just Ash, his little sister, and their mother. Ash took the fatherly role to his little sister, who was only a little over a year old. He didn't mind the extra work, it was worth it. Then, things began to change. A few months after his father's death, Ash's mother began seeing a man at her work. They slowly grew closer until they got married. Ash, honestly, didn't like the man and he could tell that the feeling was mutual. His new step-dad was a drunk and wasn't fit to be a father. Ash kept him away from his little sister as much as he could, wanting to protect her. He tried to talk to his mother, but she was blind to how her new husband acted, since he was perfectly fine when she was around. Last year, Ash and his mother had a huge fight about everything. It was one of the few times Ash had actually yelled at his mother. The fight was long and, when it was over, Ash went to his room and, out of anger, asked the Ghoul King to take his mother away. He didn't think it would work but, the next day, his mother was gone. Ash searched everywhere for her but nothing worked. I'd rather not dwell on it, but I'll tell you anyways. Myracle is in a family of two kids, her and her older brother, Josiah. When she was little Myracle's older brother had told her to always work her hardest. And she did, that's what she has always done. Thus, excelling in school. Myracle's parents weren't really around much, and when they were, the family just sat around and watched TV. Not really her way of bonding. So you could believe her jealousy when her older brother got a girlfriend. Up until she was sixteen, she had been the apple of her brother's eye. He now had someone else to give his attention to, and maybe he knew that. Because he spent less and less time with Myracle. This resulted in her pushing herself even harder in school. Finally, Myracle couldn't take it, she was jealous and missed her brother terribly. And her anger over took her. If she couldn't have her brother, then no one could either. So she uttered the words she didn't believe were real, and the next day before she left for school, she went into her brothers room and didn't see him. So she searched the whole house and still couldn't find him. So she texted him, and, with no luck. Began on her search for her brother.

T w I s T s &SettingThe month is March, but it feels like July in the Saharah. The air is hot and dry and the sun beats down on the children like no other day. There's not a lick of wind nor a drop of rain. There are a few rivers within the Labyrinth, but nothing more than a river within a small forest.
