Toras, Great Sage of Destruction Magic stood among ancient ruins. It was to this place that he had tracked down the Knight of Night, Gormall, the Taskmaster. Toras had never even heard of ruins in such a place, but was more concerned by any tricks the Knight of Night may play on him.
The Orc focused his senses, trying to pick out his foe and staying alert for ambushes.
"Terrorbolt!" spoke the oni from a balcony above, as a bolt of dark energy flew from his hand, arcing back and forth across pillars.
"Upheaval!" Toras reacted by throwing up a wall of stone around him. As Gormall's Terrorbolt collided with it, it shattered violently into sharp spears of stone, all speeding towards the Knight of Night.
The demon was taken aback when he was struck in the chest and shoulder by solid stone. He began to stumble backwards and fled for his life, deeper into the ruins. Toras knew he stuck his target and pursued his foe.
After chasing the injured oni for half an hour, he found him, back against the railing of a balcony that overlooked what appeared to be a sacrificial altar. Gormall looked at Toras arrogantly.
"Heheheh...you don't know anything about these ruins, do you?"
"No...are you saying the King of Night does?" Toras responded, unamused.
"No...lord Nocturne doesn't know what these ruins are...a surprising fact. I, however, can read these inscriptions. I know what these ruins harbor...and you will make the perfect sacrifice!" as he finished his claim, a fireball struck him in the chest, knocking him off of the balcony. As Toras leaned over the railing, he noticed that Gormall had fallen into what appeared to be a pool of slime. The oni's body was rapidly dissolved by the foreign slime and the substance began to move.
"What the he-" the sage began before the balcony he stood on collapsed. Once Toras had gotten up from the debris, what stood before him appeared to be an entirely yellow man, with extravagant-looking yellow robes.
"My goodness, it's been ages! I thought I'd starve for eternity."
"Monster, I know not what you are, only that you intend no good for our world."
"Right you are, wizard. Right you are..." a disturbing, lashing sound could be heard, followed by Toras' scream...

Terrorist acts against some breeds of inhumans began to occur frequently. A faction, claiming to be the Federation Remnant, lead the charge against vampires, cubi, oni, and other inhuman races. In response to these attacks, Former Secretary of Defense of the Earth Federation, Alexandr Alexandrovich Alexandrov insisted he had no involvement with the attacks and willingly allowed himself to be held in isolation in the Seaside Castle at Rinjiki in order to prove his innocence. This, however, did not put an end to the attacks. This resulted in the release of the young officer, and created a need for another martial force. The Eastern Kingdom began rallying troops under the order of Trance's Viceroy, Dinkate Orumo, a Kitsune official who'd gained respect and renown at the end of the Parted Waves War.

Upon the Adventure Fleet's return to the Eastern Kingdom, each member would be tasked by the Viceroy to different regions of the world to supervise anti-terror missions in those areas.

Adamska, due to his familiarity with the nation, was dispatched to Novinsk, Novinsk.

Kraze and the recently-recruited Bewsh were sent to Vaki in South Bravise.

Sion was tasked to lead the unit in Western Peria, on Culber's southeastern border, where he was to oversee Culber as well as the empty desert region. Naio agreed to help him cover the district.

Rosalie was sent to Altance, in North Bravise.

Illyana and Epiros, due to their inexperience, were sent together to oversee the coastal nation of Pinac, in the city of Jocham.

Himawari Sakura, a recent addition to the Fleet, would oversee the disputed territory between Nankao and Ijirin.

Adamska sat at his desk and looked over the statistics.

In Unterheim, contact with the surface had been cut off. Every entrance to Unterheim was blocked by yellow, ooze-shapeshifters.
In the Royal Province, chaos was spreading, as Alfythur appeared before the city and declared war on the surface world.
The princes, sensing the king to be an impostor, have been mobilizing their forces and planning an attack on the capital. None were willing to budge, for suspicion that any of the other princes were also impostors, or, worse yet, vying for the throne in light of the possibility that Alfythur had been slain by his impostor.
Kahlissi was tasked with breaching the blockade and contacting New Elinrath by Oc, the eldest prince, while Valerion, the youngest prince requested that she contact the Adventure Fleet.
Kahlissi knew that as long as the princes were suspicious of each other, that no amount of teamwork could be mustered to fight this threat with. She concluded that a meeting was required...

The princes of Unterheim all sat around a circular room, each with their own chair and table. Suspicious glares were cast about the room as each waited for another to speak.

Khalissi's insides raged like a monsoon, fear and doubt whipping and churning her stomach, but she pushed open the doors and glided in to the room with as serene expression as she could muster.

"Your highnesses," she said, taking a seat at the empty table instead of by Oc as she normally would.

Oc's jaw dropped in disbelief as he realized this wasn't Valerion's idea.

Auvin, sensing where this was going, leaned back in his hoverchair and smiled.
"Miss Aldrumare?"

Valerion waited calmly, Kahlissi's speech breaking the stiff suspicion the was previous choking him.

"I know," she said simply, her green eyes betrayed her calm face, showing the hurt she felt. "I know and I would have known eventually even if one of you hadn't let it slip to me."

The girl waited to see their reactions before continuing the speech, studying each of their faces, or what she could see of them in Faul's case.

Oc scowled.
"One of you realized you wouldn't win, so you decided to hurt her and make the rest of us lose face...or was it Valerion, who, no doubt, couldn't possibly keep it to himself?"

Valerion stood up, his wings sprouting from his back.
"It wasn't I who ruined your sick fun."

"It was I, though I have every faith she would've found out on her own at that rate."

Faul began to get up from his seat.

"Stay seated, toy soldier... The maiden has not summoned us to talk about this petty status war." Spoke Dreladinir.

"Then what does she need me here for, then?" Faul retorted.

"Obviously our father's fake and the blockades." Mardrobech bellowed, a hint of pride in his voice.

The room grew quiet, feeling foolish for being condescended by their half-giant brother.

"This has been a troubling development for me, as well." Seekyr added at last.

"No s**t." Raijirin mocked casually.
"It's a wonder you're even on this side of the barricade."

Khalissi softly resumed speaking. "That was very perceptive Mardrobech, but you're only half right. There is an issue of equal importance and I believe that if it not brought to light there will not be an Unterheim left to protect from this impostor..."

Feeling bad about the small disagreement she started she took a moment to add a lighter note. "And I'm not mad. Hurt, but I could never be angry at any of you for more than a second. Well... except Raijirin," she teased.

"And what, pray tell, my sweet Kahlissi would that be?" Dalufynn spoke up at last.

"She's not yours." Oc grumped.

The room watched her intently.

"I love every last one of you, perhaps not in the way you desire, but I do. You are each dear to me and for once I shall chose to be entirely frank with you," she paused, taking a deep breath. "Many of you are cunning, conniving, overly ambitious, and on the verge of fratricide. The last thing Unterheim needs is for its people to fall to whatever horror has taken hold of the Royal Province because you boys couldn't come together long enough to save our home."
PostPosted: Mon Dec 17, 2012 3:52 pm

"And what makes you think that any of us can trust one another long enough to deal with this situation? What's your Trump Card, Kahlissi?" Oc responded with a challenging tone.

Dreladinir spoke up.
"If everyone could consent to it, I could bind us to our word...like a geass."

"As ******** if. You could end your own geass at any moment. And if not you, one of your envoys..."

"And should I do so, the same spell will break for all of us."

"How will we know everyone is affected by it?"

"I will design it to display an obvious arcane sigil on those affected."

"...but even then, there's still the matter of getting us ALL to consent."

"I for one, do not trust this plan. I understand the repercussions such a spell could have on us, given my intimate examinations of the field of magic..."

"Do not pretend to know magic as I do, Faul. You only view it from an outside viewpoint. How can you pretend to understand a wrapped present from only the outside?"

"How can you differentiate a fortress from a prison from only the inside?"

"Enough, you two!" Oc snarled.

"If none of you can agree to set aside your differences and trust each other, whether through magic or of your own accord, then there isn't a one of you that is fit to take the place of your father if he truly is gone," Khalissi said, her voice heavy with disappointment.
PostPosted: Mon Dec 17, 2012 4:07 pm

Oc shot Kahlissi a glare of unrefined contempt before calming down and reclaiming himself.
"Very well...I am no longer in any mood to argue. I shall carry out this 'truce' with honor...may the best backstabber win in the end." he spoke with a resigned tone.

"I'm afraid I still cannot consent to this geass, as doing so threatens to injure my alliances." Raijirin spouted.

"You mean the Knights of Night, don't you?"

"Why not get them to help us?" Mardrobech chimed in.

"I refuse to ally myself with Nocturne for this task. When the ARC from the surface allied with him, he betrayed them. What makes you think that he will not pay us in kind?"

"We are Nocturne's favored. Just as his Knights pass through our realms unhindered, we are unharmed by his minions."

"Are we truly?" Valerion asked rhetorically before slowly sitting down, his wings retracting inward.

"Regardless, I would like to avoid involving Nocturne in this ordeal. Magic works differently when he is involved...I can not anticipate the complications..."

Raijirin cleared his throat.
"Too late..." shadows clouded next to Raijirin as the Raven revealed itself by his side.

The room grew quiet.

A low growl resonated from below Valerion's table where Thistle lay. As a priestess of Valos his very presence cause her distress.

"Regardless of my personal feelings on the dark god, I," she almost choked on the words. "I believe in the end we may need not only his help, but the help of every soul on this planet. Dark times are coming, darker than the blackest of Nocturne's nights."
