Vuxron kept low to the ground, trying to get a good feel of any nearby vibrations coming from an obviously close animal. He waited, and waited, until his eyes widened as he felt the vibration he needed to feel. He instantly stood up and rushed deeper into the jungle foliage, pushing aside giant leaves, branches, vines, and even having to weave in and out of dead trees or thick, tangled, nettings of roots. In moments that passed like seconds, he came to a very small clearing, and stood in the center of it, the light from the twin suns finally shining down on him completely. His icy blue skin and emerald hair shone in the intense rays, and his silver armor gleamed as well, but only for a short moment as he then left the clearing behind him.
Vuxron continued on, a light glow in his topaz orbs as they darted around in a casual fashion. He brought a cupped hand to the side of his mouth and tilted his head back slightly. “Zanotho!” he called out, putting some base into his voice to help it carry farther. He sauntered deeper into the jungle once again, waiting for an answer. As if on queue, Vuxron stopped; only to turn and see his hunting partner and good friend approach him, pushing aside a few vibrantly green leaves. Zanotho wore the same silver armor as Vuxron, if not varied slightly in design, sort of as a way to show that they were hunting partners, which was the norm in Aetrokite culture.
“What is it?” Zanotho queried, looking a little rushed and highly alert.
“We’ve got a Tai-Rukso nearby; felt the beast’s steps not too far away.” Vuxron retorted, a light smirk tugging as his lips.
The very moment those words registered in Zanotho’s mind, he grinned and slugged Vuxron in the shoulder in a friendly and almost brotherly fashion. “Let’s go get it then.”
Vuxron grinned and without another moment to spare, went back the way he came, Zanotho following him at the same speed.
“How big do you think this one will be?” Zanotho questioned as he kept alongside Vuxron, talking in a low enough tone to make sure they wouldn’t give themselves away, but also just to pass the time.
“Perhaps slightly smaller than an adult. The footsteps were not as low toned as a fully grown’s, but we should still get the same reward for keeping down the population.”
“Fine with me. So what’s the plan of attack?”
“I’ll get its attention with a few shots, then you flank him and we’ll see where we can go from there.”
“Freelancing it as always…” Zanotho chuckled, “That’s so much more fun.”
“That’s the point, gives it more of a challenge too.”
“Indeed.”
After a blur of time, the two slowed their steps and quelled their voices, even lowering themselves as well in order to conceal their presence. Without even showing or telling anything to the other, they knew that their target was in close proximity. The Tai-Rukso simply cumbered on, low thundering footsteps repeating in a painfully slow rhythm. For Zanotho, seeing a Tai-Rukso was a good sign, it meant that the wildlife was flourishing more than enough. Normally, hunters rather disliked running into any Rukso wyvern, but as for Vuxron and Zanotho, it proved to be the most enjoyable, since they were such difficult creatures to hunt down with their skin being so much like the vegetation in terms of color and texture. Slaying one on was a whole different experience, a very difficult and maybe even irritating one. One mistake and you could be on your merry little way back to the cities for treatment of acid burns and any other injuries if you were lucky enough.
Vuxron looked to his partner and gave a slow and silent nod, his eyes doing all the talking. Zanotho blinked and his eyes flicked back to where he heard their target. The next few moments would be very crucial. He slowly and very carefully kept low to thr ground and made his way to the right side of the Tai-Rukso's position. From there, he made a light tap on a nreaby tree to signal Vuxron to start. However, the Tai-Rukso's hearing picked up the sound and in an instant it raised its head and started to look around with suspicion. Its eyes started back and forth, making a low growl, followed by an irritated hiss as it bared its many long, sharp teeth. Luckily, it didn't seem to be that alarmed, and dismissed the noise. That was it's own mistake.
