Saw this post in the other forum, thought I'd bring it over here. admiralscoto What other genres and or bands to you guys listen to? Some examples from me. Genres=Grindcore, Death, Atmospheric, and Thrash Bands=Cannibal Corpse, Archenemy, Amon Amarth, Slayer, Exodus, Sepultura, Danzig, Tool, and Candlemass to name a few

Im usually always listening to black metal or music with BM roots.
But when Im not its usually classical, ambient, stoneranything, psychedelic hippie s**t, etc.
I like Chopin, Beethoven, Pachebel, Steve Roach, some Air, Bongzilla, Bogus Blimp, Tool, Nebula, Thin Lizzy, Patti Smith, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, Hawkwind, Pink Floyd, etc
Kind of hard to come up with a list of stuff I dont listen to regularily cause its rare. haha Black metal stains my brain. For the better.
To be completely honest Im not an insane fan of any other types of metal.- Most death metal I cannot stand, anything 'core' turns me off instantly, alot of metal just doesnt connect with me the way BM does. Doesnt mean I wont listen to it when its played and enjoy it, just alot of it doesnt rub me the right way.
Also tomorrow is the Finntroll and Ensiferum show. Pretty excited. Saw Finntroll once before and this will be my third time seeing Ensiferum. Cant remember the other bands playing, but it'll be good times. Im gonna be a mess though hahaha.

Well, Black Metal is my usual primary, I would have to say I enjoy Funeral Doom and Folk a little bit more. Folk music is my all time favorite genre, and folk inspired music is incredible.
So I guess..
Genres: Folk, Funeral Doom, Gothic Metal(usually with female mainly vocals), Stoner Doom, Psych Folk, Shoegaze, Ambient, Trip-Hop, Experimental(Estradasphere), little bit of Video Game OST's, and Post-Rock.
Bands: Nebelung, Neun Welten, Of the Wand & the Moon, In Gowan Ring, The Tallest Man On Earth, Espers, Evoken, Thergothon, Celestiial, Birch Book, Marissa Nadler, Les Discrets, Isis, Evig Natt, Battlelore, Novemthree, Solanacea, Alethes, Monolith of Doom, Autumnia.... to name a few.
I hate deathcore, I dislike Death Metal, though I've heard a few that aren't bad, like Obituary, Entombed, Death, and way earlier stuff. Grindcore is fun at times, but mainly a huge headache. Punk is hit or miss. Thrash is s**t unless it's Dethhammer from Norway. Symphonic Metal is alright too, but like Punk, hit or miss.
So yeah... I'm into the decay of seasons judging by my musical tastes. smile

Ave Satana And folk, of course folk! biggrin I always listen to folktype stuff when I play UO! Makes it more magical. 3nodding Word! I've listened to Solancea and Nebelung nearly endlessly playing it. Certainly gives a magical aspect to swinging a shovel around for hours, haha.

I only use the term grindcore due to the fact that is somehow the genre cannibal corpse, death, dying fetus, and deicide fall into . What i failed to mention in my original post is gothic doom as a genre i listen to as well.

Ok as always black metal is the primary weapon lol.
every now and the i like to listen to the stuff i was raised on.
i was raised to be a free thinker just puttin that out there.

J-metal(Exist Trace and Dir en grey)
Reggae(Bob Marley and Zona Ganjah)
Grindcore(Brujeria and Brutal Truth)
Funeral Doom(Corrupted and Evoken)
Deathgrind(Brujeria)
Note: Though I love Corrupted I must say that My favorite Funeral doom songs are Antithesis of light(Evoken) and Tragedy eternal(Evoken)

X-Fusion/Noisuf-X, FGFC820, Eisenfunk, Hydroxie, Grendel, NachtMahr, Combichrist just to name a few of my favorites.
