Walking down the hallway past what was traditionally a deserted classroom, one may now find a notice posted on a large, wooden door:
Students and Faculty,
I, Prof. Drakonix, am hereby initiating three Sorcery courses - Sorcery 101, Sorcery 102 (reqs. 101), and Sorcery 103 (reqs 101 &102).
Sorcery is a branch of magic that requires the knowledge of the laws of nature, physics, and mathematics in order to systematically break them. It is not spellwork, herbalism, potions, or spiritualism.
It is the most dangerous form of magic available for study, and potentially the most powerful. Students may not be younger than fourteen years of age to attend.
If you are interested, sign up below. I will be holding an orientation in the gardens adjacent to this room when enough people sign up.

A young woman is staring at the paper for a moment, eyeing it critically. "It just seems so... so FORMAL," she says to herself. "Did I make it too off-putting? If anyone signs up it'll be a miracle." She shrugs and sits on the ledge of a nearby archway, whistling gaily to herself and watching passers-by with a patient, uninterested gaze.

Kyosuke walked up to the door, reading it as interest lit up inside of him. He raised his finger, trailing it across the sign up sheet as his name appeared in red bold letters. The woman stared at the student for some time, her face suddenly serious. "You seem to have no moral qualms about doing that," she said sternly, "But I am ashamed of nothing and have no reason to hide it. In some cultures, you would owe me an answer to any question I asked. One piece of personal information for another."
Her face changed rapidly, the sardonic smile returning.
"But I bet you wouldn't answer anyway, would you, Kyosuke?"

Kyosuke wasn't shocked at her knowing his name since he just wrote it on the sign up sheet. However, he knew for a fact that nothing in existence could even try to read his mind. Kyosuke's face remained emotionless as he said, "I do not wish to read everyone's mind, however, my species is that of which it forces me to read the mind of anyone I see..." "Ah, I think I know what you mean. I had a friend like you once, back in the Seventies in Romania. Apparently Romania is to vampires what San Fran is to hippies, y'know? All kinds of neat people there, and the young gentleman who looked a bit like yourself, now I think about it, was an alchemist who was trying... well."
She stopped suddenly, the playful grin permanent on her face.. "Most of my stories are quite long. Are you studying anything in particular during your stay here?

"Ah, no, not at all," she riposted, "There is a language barrier, I believe. I know of people using the term archdemon, and using it in conjunction with a class of individual who do indeed exist, but I studied demonology only briefly and found the hierarchy to be incredibly confusing and the language even more difficult to translate. I was honored to make the acquaintance of a gentleman by the name of Asmodeus, but his title translates more closely to 'Prince,' or 'General.' The nephilim who looked a great deal like yourself was his own son."
She picked up her book again and began flipping through pages to find her spot. "If that's the case then, Kyosuke, why are you here? Out of mere curiosity, of course."

((That's fine, I interjected a language barrier, a convoluted hierarchy, and cultural differences to explain the existence of the IRL creatures that use the same title. That way, your use of the word and the historical use can be separated by waving it off as a mistranslation.))
