Raven loved night flights.  They were calm and easy-going, and it meant he could flutter over the waterfront, without having to worry about the irritation that was usually other students.  Letting one black-nailed hand droop into the water, he smiled as his hand broke the reflection of a full moon, causing ripples to meet waves.  Letting his dark wings stretch wide, he easily landed on the bank, sitting down, to watch the chaos on the glassy surface that he'd caused.

Widow had been reading herself since nightfall, perched delicately on a silk swing she had woven for herself under a big old tree. One pair of hands grasped the white threads on either side of her, the other pair held the book parted open on front of her. Glassy black eyes silently looking through the book. The quiet flutter of wings drew her attention, and lifting her expressionless white face observing the boy who had landed barely meters from her swing. It was not uncommon for her to go unnoticed, and admittedly she found pleasure in emerging from the shadows to startle unwitting classmates.

"You fly very gracefully~" She cooed softly, not closing the book on her lap.

Looking up from his calm water-gazing, he tipped his head, looking at her with calm gold eyes, "Thanks, I guess." His usual uncouth language had dropped, and he seemed at peace, unlike he was in class, and on the grounds, "I'm Raven....though everyone calls me Rae. Personal choice. Who're you?" She was really pretty, and obviously one of the Jer...can...whatever the hell the bug house's name was said like. Meant he had no real issues with her, unlike he did with one of the kids from the Myth house.

She nodded her head respectfully, looking at him with unblinkinging eyes. "I am Black Widow. You may simply call me Widow, everyone else who is inclined to speak to me does so." She observed him quietly for a moment, looking over his clothes, wings, and finally his face. "May I ask what you're doing out here so late?"

And just as she studied him, so he studied her. Damn, she was dainty...really interesting too. Sorta dark, in the good way. Glancing at her eyes, he smiled, a bit shyly, "Yeah....I was actually taking a night flight. They help me calm down after a long day, and believe me, I've had one." His wings ruffled, "Let's just say I have a rival in school...and he and I REALLY don't get on well..." He was, of course, talking about the eletist of a Phoenix, the one he'd mentally declared his arch-nemesis, like something directly out of a freaking comic.

Widow laughed lightly, placing the fingers of one hand lightly over her mouth as she did so. "Oh, goodness. Was it something he did, or said, might I ask?" Widow herself had never had an enemy that she could recall. Of course, not everyone could handle her emotionless, latex face, dark victorian dress sense, and bizarre tastes, but she did not dislike those people for their opinion of her. She just simply was not friends with them.

He grinned a bit, stretching, "He's an arrogant p***k who thinks that anyone else around him is a lowly moron. Then again, I like to piss him off, so that might just be me." Unlike those sorts, Raven was actually finding this girl....Nice to talk to, a potential friend in this chaotic hole, "So....what are you reading, if you don't mind me asking, miss Widow?"

"Oh, nothing much..." She responded rather airily, waving one of her hands dismissively. "I am rather fond of french literature. While it's difficult to understand the romanticism of their fruits and flowers from a spider's perspective, I still find them so...serene. Delicate; so easily breakable, yet so beautiful. Do you not agree~?" The way she spoke was passionate, but somehow still so calm and quiet. She moved very little, slowly moving her legs to rock ever so slightly back and forth on her silk swing.

Wings relaxing, as he gazed at her, the Raven's eyes lit up,"....You like French literature?  I totally agree...I mean, the way things go...it's just so.....light....fragile..."  Thinking back, he'd heard some french once, hadn't he?  The bird made a note to look up some words, so the next time he saw her, he could recite something.  Silly little notion, that, but hey, he was a bit of a softie, not that anyone would know.  He wasalso REALLY good with accents...

She smiled as much as she could through the latex mask, continuing to swing ever so slightly. "I have always been so curious about them. At one time I grew some flowers of my own, however I left those at home, with mother. True flowers are never quite as fascinating as those who have been incarnated."  Again with that passionate yet calm tone. She opened up quickly, seeming unconcerned about meeting a new face, speaking as though talking to a brother.

He grinned, "Yeah, I have to agree with you."  Getting up, he let himself flutter up into the tree, landing on one of the branches abover her swing, to grin down at her, the feathers on his ears fluttering in a tiny breeze, "I know this great place that grows flowers.  Maybe I'll buy you some?"

Widow gazed up at him, starting to swing back and forth a little more with every swing, the picture of serenity. "Mm, well my birthday is not for a while, but if you wish to buy me flowers, I would not object. I would rather like it, I think." She offered up one of her barely-visible smiles in response, motioning up to. "I will have to get you something in return~"

He grinned, "Don't worry about it. I like getting people presents." Fluttering back down, he gently took one of her hands, giggling softly. He felt like being a gentleman for a moment, and he leaned in, gently kissing it, "'Sides~ It's only polite." He felt like being a bit of a charmer. Rae could be sweet, after all.

Widow gave her light, airy laugh again, wiggling her fingers lightly in the Raven's grasp. "My, such a gentleman. Are you always this good to your lady friends~?" Her tone was as airy as her laugh. She found the boy interesting, and, while she was interested in romance novels, she took friendships quite lightly.

Raven laughed and grinned, "I wouldn't know."  Letting go of the other's hand, he leaned against the tree, "Eh...Never really had any friends, you know?  Most people don't really get to meet me like this...."  He looked a bit shy, ruffling his own hair in a very nervous manner.  He really didn't have many friends, not even in his own house.

She inclined her head slightly to one side at this, seeming confused at the notion. "Meet you like what?" Admittedly she had very few friends herself, but she considered herself friendly with anyone who didn't outright hate her. She couldn't quite grasp it. Was he usually unfriendly? Grouchy during the day? Didn't like large groups of people? She wondered what could possibly keep a nice boy from making friends.

"I'm not usually very....sociable" Best way to say it. NO one really had ever met him without him being a right jerk. He was a bit of a brat, half the time, but night times...he could relax and calm down. He liked being able to do just that, since it allowed him time to just....not be irritated or ruffled.

She tilted her head the other, way, observing him with curiosity. Of course her stare remained blank, but seemed to give off the emotion none the less. "Not usually? Well, why not?" She inquired. I was still all quite the mystery to her; she already considered Raven an intelligent and friendly boy, and couldn't fathom him being otherwise.

"Catch me around the Phoenix jerk and you'll see..." He muttered, praying she'd never have to see that side of him.  It wasn't exactly MODEL behavior.  He rather disliked the other though, and a lot of the time, he just acted the way he did around other students because they pissed him off....alot.  She was different...quiet, delicate, smart....It was nice.

Widow stuck out her bottom lip ever-so-slightly in contemplation, looking the boy over for a long moment. "If it is not so rude of me to ask...does one have something of a temper around others, at times?" This was the only reason, she could logically conclude, that the Raven would not be surrounded by many good friends.

"Most people..." He tried to explain this, "Don't catch me when I'm calm...When I'm on campus, I'm usually kinda riled up...." He sighed, "For some reason, it just makes my feathers fluff up....Not my thing..." Raven sighed, "I'm not too good with people either....not on campus, where everyone's just...like..," He had NO idea how to explain this, "Words fail me sometimes...."

"Overbearing?" Widow offered helpfully, head still tilted to one side. "The other children can be quite boisterous, and I can understand how that would get on one's nerves." Despite her quiet nature, Widow herself had no problem with louder children. Of course, those children never seemed to slow down long enough to get to know her, but she didn't mind that fact either.

He chuckled a bit, "Eh....I'm not all that fond of them." Looking up, he noted the Moon's position, and sighed, "You know, if we want sleep tonight, miss Widow, We'd both best be headding back to Campus." Leaning back, he sighed, "Though this really was nice..."

She turned her white face to the moon, seeming to consider it a moment before nodding. "That would be best. But I must agree, it was lovely to meet you. Hopefully when we meet again, you are in such a good mood as you were tonight~" She turned her face back to him, offering a serene smile, but not getting up from her swing. It seemed she planned to stay out there longer, but did not object to Raven taking his leave; she understood other children needed more sleep then she seemed to need.

He nodded eagerly, and kissed her hand again, spreading his wings and taking off.  It wasn't hard for him to catch a draft, the smile on his face wide.  Well this had been one hell of a perfect night.
