For millennia, the Galthir and the Losfir have battled over the fates of humans. The Losfir, radiant and pure, rule by day from their home in the clouds and encourage honesty, justice, and fellowship. The Galthir reside underground in a labyrinth of caves, tainting humans with greed, fear, and hatred in the darkness of the night. Together they are the Kilsin, elven creatures that have watched over humans since their creation by the gods.

In the Beginning, the Kilsin were created as servants of the gods, and were one race. But while the Losfir accepted their fate and cheerfully went about their duties in Álfheim, their city on the highest mountain in the land, the Galthir rebelled, refusing to become mere tools of the gods. Their punishment was to be sent underground to the labyrinth of Svartálfar, unable to see the sun ever again. As time passed, the Kilsin turned their attention to another creation of the gods—the humans, innocently living above and below them in the land of Wéithir.

The Gods, content to simply watch all of their creations, became worried at this sudden focus on the weak humans. They lay down the decree that the Kilsin could not fatally harm the humans, for fear that the humans would be annihilated. The Kilsin by this time had started an argument between each other over the nature of the humans. The Losfir contended that the humans should become a more pure race, using saints and good-hearted souls as examples of their worthiness; however, the Galthir argued that humans were filthy, evil beings like them, pointing out the many rapists, murderers, and cruel humans that moved among human society.

Because the Kilsin could not defeat each other or the humans, they resorted to a mind game. Both races would go among the humans during the day or night and try to influence the side of them that would show the other side who was right. The Losfir would attempt to bring out the better side of the humans, while the Galthir would tempt out their worse side.

Theirs is an eternal battle that not even the Gods have seen fit to resole.

Pick a side as either the Losfir or the Galthir, and help your kind trump the other in a race to bend the nature of human kind to your interpretation.

As a Losfir, you will be able to interact with various humans from sunrise to sundown, trying your best to keep them optimistic and morally positive. If you are not back in the Losfir’s city in the sky by the time the sun dips below the horizon, you will vanish into mist.

As a Galthir, you will be able to come out of your underground home as soon as the last of the sun’s rays leaves the earth, and stay there until dawn approaches. Your mission is to dig out the inherent weaknesses of any humans you encounter, exposing their fears and converting them into pessimists. Should sunlight touch you for even a moment before you return to the labyrinth below, you will be forever stone.

Between the Losfir and Galthir are the humans. The humans are quite aware of these elven creatures that come into their life and try to sway them. And many are sick and tired of it. A growing group of humans have begun to meet during the hour of dawn and dusk when the Losfir and Galthir are distracted coming out or going home. They have recently decided upon sending delegations of humans to each side to politely request that both races butt out and let humans become what they will.

Should you be a human, you have three choices. You may:
1) Go about a normal life and be influenced day and night by the Kilsin,
2) Join a delegation to travel to either the Galthir or Losfir to barter for freedom from their struggle, or
3) Be a member, ranking or not, of the C.C., or Clear Conscience. It is the organization of humans that is meeting to be free from the Kilsin.

Losfir-

• Appearance >> The Losfir are usually tall and pale-skinned, with bright blue eyes and hair any color of the rainbow. Because they are inherently elven in nature, they have long, slender ears with pointed tips. The Losfir consider longer ears as an indication of beauty among their kind, and never cover them with piercings or tattoos, instead letting them proudly stick out from their skulls. They are always cheerful, optimistic creatures when dealing with humans. This seemingly never-ending supply of happiness makes some humans doubt the Losfir’s intelligence, but do not be deceived—the Losfir are cunning and confident underneath all that good will. They are determined that all humans should be as (seemingly) pure as they, and will keep pushing this ideology onto human kind until this goal is achieved. The individual Losfir lives twice as long as a human, or about one hundred and fifty years.

• Home>> The Losfir live in Álfheim, a towering city of sparkling white marble seemingly perched in the clouds. In reality it was built upon the peak of Mt. Ljósálfar, but because the top of the mountain is always shrouded by clouds it gives the gleaming city the illusion of floating on top.

Galthir-

• Appearance>> The only similarity in appearance to their good-natured counterparts is size—the Galthir are usually very tall and willowy, although being rounder is never looked down upon. While the Galthir also have pointed ears due to their elven lineage, theirs are much shorter, being only a little longer than a human. As decoration, the Galthir have a tendency to have multiple piercings up along the shell of both ears, and occasionally tattoos. The skin of a Galthir is usually a pale shade of grey. The Galthir become darker as they age, the oldest being a slate color. Similar to the Losfir, the Galthir’s age limit is around one hundred and fifty, although some have been known to reach one hundred and ninety.

• Home>> The Galthir reside in the dark, dank labyrinth of Svartálfar, a sprawling series of tunnels and caves located deep underground. Unless you are a Galthir it is almost impossible to traverse the pitch black corridors of stone to their home city of Vaellír without a constant source of light to keep you from plunging into bottomless pits and underground lakes. Their city of granite lies in the largest cavern, supposedly in the northeast section of the labyrinth—although no Galthir will tell you if that is true or not.

Human-

• Appearance>> Humans come in all shapes and sizes; tall, short, thin, large, and in-between. Their hair colors may not be able to achieve the vibrancy or the Losfir, and their skin not capable of as dark a tone as the Galthir, but they still come in quite a variety of colors. Humans’ ears are what set them apart the most from the Kilsin. Short and rounded, humans are grateful for the fact that they have an easy way of judging whether or not the person in front of them is human or not, because while a Kilsin can sometimes disguise their appearance when it comes to skin color or hair color, they can never shorten their ears. Humans live anywhere from 10 years to seventy depending on their lifestyle.

• Home>> Humans live on the plane of Wéithir, a flat world that features one large continent and the seas surrounding it. Where the world ends, the seas tumble into oblivion in spectacular waterfalls. The large mass of land has been named Hölfirheim, and its geography varies from flat plains, to sloping hills, and up into craggy mountains. Humans inhabit almost every area of Hölfirheim, with hundreds of smaller villages, dozens of towns, and a few large cities. The largest city of all is Valtha, home to the King who rules the humans.

Dates are based off of the Norse Calendar, with some adjustments to accommodate for the standard Christian system in place today. And in spelling so they don’t look too unpronounceable.

January=Porri
February= Goa
March=Einman
April=Harpa
May=Skerpla
June=Solman
July=Hayann
August=Tviman
September=Haust
October=Gorman
November=Ylir
December=Morsugur

The starting date for the roleplay is the 18th day of Gorman.

Current Date: 19th of Gorman, Night
Technologically, Wéithir is not that advanced. The fastest mode of travel is the back of a horse, and a blade of steel the trustiest weapon a man can have at his side. This means that there are no guns, and no electricity.

1. It is imperative all who participate in the roleplay write in a clear, precise manner befitting one with at least a seventh grade public education. This entails correct punctuation, capitalization, and spelling. As well as basic knowledge of English grammar.

2. Do not trifle with the time of the other roleplayers by writing puny posts. A length of at least three sentences is the minimum standard. All posts underneath this shall be nagged at until a longer version is provided.

3. There must be a clear differentiation between words of dialogue and words of description in all posts. Methods to achieve this may include underlining, bolding, italicizing, or use of color. Remember to use, “These quotes,” for speech and, ‘These quotes,’ for thought.

4. Keep a clear head about you when encountering characters of the opposite sex. While romance is a natural occurrence between members of the same species, it would simply not do to defy the laws of nature and attempt to court something not of your kind. Anyone who attempts to recreate a certain British playwrights’ famous romantic tragedy about two young children will be struck down.

5. As always, remember to always follow the Terms of Service, as well as the Guild Rules for Roleplaying.

Zane

“Good Afternoon!” “Good Day!” “Isn’t it beautiful outside?” “Hope you’re having a great day!”

Zane made his way down the street, waving and greeting everyone he walked past. Some of the humans waved back, a few returned his greetings and wishes for the day. Most just nodded absentmindedly and continued on their way, used to the antics of one such as he. But he continued nonetheless, a cheerful grin plastered on his face and stride casual as he took in the quaint site. Aelloon was a small village on the western side of Hölfirheim, perched on the cliffs overlooking the Bereid Sea. Its cottages and cabins were spread neatly apart, some even extending into the woods that bordered the north side of town. Zane’s eyes lingered on the trees in the distance, noting the vibrant fall colors that contrasted so nicely with the vibrant blue sky. It was mid Gorman now, and Wéithir certainly showed it.

“Oh, pardon me!” Zane looked down, still smiling, at the young woman who had bumped into him. She held a basket of various types of food, no doubt from the farmer’s market currently taking place. It was why Zane was here, spreading around good cheer at the amount of things on sale, a reflection of the bountiful harvest the village was enjoying this fall.

“No no, pardon me. I was so busy enjoying the beautiful day we’re having and taking in all the delightful smells and sights I forgot to pay attention to the wonderful people around me.” Zane took a step back to bow gallantly in apology, while the woman looked on in amusement. He straightened up and beamed at her, taking in her disheveled appearance. “Are you in a hurry somewhere? Can I help you?” She shook her head quickly, her brown hair flying about at the movement.

“No, I’m in no rush, exactly. Simply excited to get home to show Mother the tuna Fisherman Codi had on sale for a mere two coppers. Isn’t it huge?” She peeled back a cloth to show him the fish, a grin on her face. Zane, quick to oblige, leaned forward and gasped.

“It’s huge!” He said, widening his eyes in an almost childish excitement. He smiled brightly at her, cocking his head in curiosity. “What are you going to make for dinner with such a large fish?”

She shrugged, but the smile didn’t leave her face. “I’m not sure yet. I know Mother will have a few ideas though. I wish I could invite you, as there’s far too much for even our family, but…” A frown started to form on her face, and Zane quickly chuckled, leaning down and patting her on the shoulder.

“Don’t worry about it! Tell you what, I’ll go to Fisherman Codi’s stall and buy my own fish to take home to my mother, though I’m sure it won’t be half as big as yours. And tomorrow, we can see who did what with the fish, okay?” He looked at her hopefully, trying to coax a smile back onto her face. He succeeded, as her face lit up.

“Okay! I’ll meet you here tomorrow at noon, okay?”

“It’s a promise! Better hurry home now so you and your Mother can start to plan!” The girl nodded at him and trotted past him, heading down the street. Zane watched her go for a minute, smiling softly.

‘I better look up what you can do with tuna so I can create a convincing enough lie for her tomorrow.’ He thought, turning around and heading back down the street. He hadn’t had dinner with his parents in almost a decade, since he had started training. For all that he was supposed to impress upon humans the importance of cherishing your family and spending time together, it wasn’t something the Losfir did. No, they were too busy making humans better to focus on their own improvement. Because they were already good, right?

Zane sighed internally, although he made sure to keep up with his act of greeting people as he headed towards the market and Codi’s stall. He’d have to explore that thought later when he wrote his daily journal entry. For now, there were people to please.

As he reached the stall, Zane’s eyes flickered down to the shadow it cast, noting the angle. He had roughly two hours before he had to head towards the nearest exit towards Álfheim. Plenty of time to make another round greeting people, hopefully have a nice conversation with someone else, and drop his fish off at Sister Lelia's orphanage before leaving.

XXXXLokiXXXX

XX Loki walked down the cold dirt road, It was now dusk and he knew any minute now, the chaos that he so much loved would present itself. These worthless creatures that lived here sure knew how to put on a show. Each night it was something new. Whether it was murder, rape, or even theft. It never got old. Loki enjoyed having an influence on there demise. Just then he heard something which was music to his ears. A woman's scream in the dark. He saw a man run out of the shadows with a bag of gold in his hands. Loki stood in the mans way and refused to let him pass.

"What are you doing, can't you see I'm trying to get away?" The man said to him. In response, Loki pulled out a dagger from his cloak and pointed it at the man.

"Please don't hurt me, I'll give the money back. I promise" The man looked terrified.

"Now why would I want you to do that, and besides I couldn't hurt you even if I wanted to. What I'm wondering is why you let her get away, so she can go tell the authorities and have you locked up by tomorrow. Then what of your hard earned bag of gold." Loki presented the dagger to the man.

"Go ahead and finish the job" Loki said to the man sternly.

The man took the knife from Loki and hurried off into the shadows were then Loki head a blood curling sound that made him smirk. He took out his tree bark and made a little notch."That's one for the Galthir"

He continued down the road until he saw a small garrison of guards running in the direction of the screaming woman. He halted their progress."Excuse me gentlemen, I know you probably heard that scream, of course this bag of gold I have in my cloak says that I am mistaken and you haven't heard a thing" Loki presented the bag of gold to them.

"Absolutely Sir, we appreciate your concern, but we have everything under control." The guards winked at him as they slid the bag of gold from his hand.

"Make that two wins for the Galthir tonight" Loki noticed the light of dawn beginning to peak in the horizon

"Looks like it's gonna be another one of those days, just not enough time at night. Damn Losfir have it so good." Loki walked towards the entrance of Svartálfar. As he reached the Labyrinth, he saw a familiar face guarding the entrance to the Labyrinth.

"I'm glad to see you here Braunhu, I was worried that they might of put another new guy on post this morning. I'm getting tired of having to threaten lives in order to get in my own home."

Braunhu laughed and led Loki inside before closing the door behind him.

>>As soon as the sun's descent towards the horizon had turned the sky a vibrant mixture of orange, red and yellows to rival the trees, Nola paused in her playing and put down her guitar. The few people who had been listening either wandered away immediately or at least paused to throw a copper or two in the handkerchief on the ground she had spread for just that. As the last man moved on to the next stall she sighed and stretched, rolling her shoulders and popping the joints in her hands. She had been playing and signing continuously for the past four hours, and she looked forward to going back to her inn tonight and having a well-earned bowl of stew and some ale with the money on the ground before her. She stooped down to scoop up the small handful of coins and tuck them and the handkerchief down her shirt when a flicker of movement caught her eye.

Looking up through her bangs she saw a tall figure striding quickly towards the treeline a little ways ahead at the northern end of the village. It wasn't until she focused on his ears that she noted the length, recognizing him for a Losfir. She shook her head, grabbing her guitar and watching him for a minute. Such sickeningly cheerful creatures. Even when he was obviously in a hurry to get back to his elven city in the sky, he still paused to greet everyone he passed. Nola could only snort at such foolishness and turn away to head towards the inn.

After a quick trip to her room to drop off her instrument and check her other gear for any tampering, of which she found none, Nola headed back downstairs. She had been pleasantly surprised at the lack of crime during her stay here, assuming that more Losfir passed through here than Galthir. It seemed to be the case lately that the two immortals were more willing to claim villages as their own, and then fight over the larger towns and cities rather than waste people trying to convert every village. For which they were both blessed and cursed by the humans who kept being pestered by either race.

"Did you hear about Glasrowe?" Nola's attention focused on two men at a table nearby, beers in hand as they conversed. She had just finished ordering her dinner from the innkeeper, and had been listening to conversations nearby to pass the time.

"Nothing except for the price of fish doubling there. Why?" She quietly made her way to a table next to theirs with her food and drink, listening intently to their conversation while seemingly enjoying her dinner.

"I heard the Galthir have taken it. My brother and his family live there, and he sent me a letter saying he's seriously considering leaving. During the day people hurry around doing what needs to be done... but by night you can hardly sleep for the screams, he says. There have been more murders and whatnot there than there has been in a couple years."

"Hmph. Certainly sounds like the Galthir are loose there then. Garrison has probably been paid like kings to just sit on their asses and look the other way, I bet. It's what happened a few months ago in Lothering, remember?"

"Yeah, no doubt. The only problem now is that this may affect how we can get all of our corn over to...." Nola stopped paying attention at that point, taking a thoughtful sip of her ale and fingering a pouch on her belt. Inside was some blank parchment and upstairs in her room she still had some ink. It looked like she had a letter to write tonight.

Alex

Alex returned home to his village in Aelloon, after going to his first C.C. meeting. He felt like it accomplished a lot, he learned that the Galthir have taken over the city of Glasrowe, and that the C.C. were planning on performing there own guard duty of the town in a couple of days.

As he walked in the house, he smelled the wonderful aroma of fish cooking in the kitchen. As he walked in the room, he noticed his little sister Ellie cooking fish.

"That smells great little sis, what's the occasion?" Alex saw mother come in the kitchen with a container of spices.

"We must be having company over or something, should I go clean up and put something nicer on?"

*--Ellie Dryden--*

**Ellie happily hummed to herself as she gripped a wooden spoon in both hands, watching the fish she had bought earlier sizzle in the pan like Mama had told her to. It was such a big fish, she wasn't sure even Papa and Big Brother would be able to make a dent in it. And they ate a lot. It made her even unhappier that she had been unable to invite that nice Losfir home. But as she looked towards the window she could see it was almost entirely dark outside. Mama was lighting candles right now.

A small pout came over Ellie's face as she thought of how unfair it was that the Kilsin could only come out and play during parts of the day. But then again, she couldn't play when it was dark outside either. Did that make her like a Losfir? Ellie giggled to herself, wondering if she could ever be as permanently cheerful as the Losfir she had met today at the market.

She turned back to the pan with a wide smile on her face, deciding to try and be as happy as she could for the rest of the evening, when she heard the door open. She turned to see her brother walk inside, and waved from her spot near the fire.

"It's the beginning of the Harvest Market!" She called, and stepped aside as Mama came back into the kitchen and took the spoon back from her, patting Ellie on the head while sprinkling some herbs onto the fish. Ellie walked over to her brother and took one of his larger hands in both of hers, squeezing it and looking up at him cheerfully. "I found the fish at Fisherman Cody's stall, and Mama agreed that it was so yummy looking we had to have it tonight!"

Alex

"Well it smells delicious little sis, you and mom have been working hard in here." He smiled and gently let go of his sisters hands and begin setting the table for dinner.

"My first C.C. meeting was a huge success today, did you know that the Galthir have pretty much taken over the city of Glasrowe, Violence and murder in that city is at an all time high. The C.C. are planning on sending over a small group to perform guard duty of the city at night." Alex looked hopeful at Ellie.

"There going to be choosing the people in the group tomorrow, wouldn't it be awesome if I got picked to go with them." Alex stood up strong, and held up his chin.

"Your brother could be the hero of Glassrowe" He caught a whiff of the fish cooking again.

"That smells like a hero's dinner to me" Alex laughed and finished setting the table.

**"Alex! Don't talk of such things in front of Elle!" Their mother scolded from the fire, turning a little to give her son a warning glance. "If you need to speak of such things do it after dinner with your father." Elle looked between her mother and brother in confusion. Mama rarely scolded her brother, but lately it seemed her and papa had been scolding a lot whenever Big Brother brought up some club he was part of. Ellie only knew that she was apparently too young to join said club, so paid more attention to things she could play with, like dolls and the Losfir.

Ellie frowned and tugged on her brother's sleeve as he still stood by the table, trying to get him to lean down so she could whisper in his ear. "Being a hero sounds fun big bro, but..." she looked nervously at their mother, who was silently flipping the fish in the frying pan, a stony expression on her face, "...if mama doesn't like it maybe you should wait to be a hero until later?"

Alex
Alex looked over at his mom

"Yes mam" Alex continued to set the table, when he had finished, he walked over to the sink and watched his hands.

He couldn't understand why his mother did not want him to speak openly about the C.C. It was only a matter of time before the Kilsin invaded the small town of Aelloon.

Alex helped his sister and mother put the food out on the table.

"What time is father coming home?" Alex directed the question to his mother while putting the fish on the table.* * Human * *
