“Pure Intentions with a Price”

A fragile heart was in my hands
With much hesitation and thought
I broke it unintentionally
A crime I have been a victim of myself
Guilty as charged
I inflicted the same pain on someone else
I honestly didn’t mean to hurt him
Everyone has the right to be happy
I might not be everyone
But I still have the exact same right
As selfish as it is
I sacrificed his love for my happiness
A destination every human tries to reach
Two people have to be completely happy
For a relationship to work out
He loved me but I didn’t feel a spark
It broke my heart to break his
I know how he feels
The feeling of love torn from you
As it spills out from the middle of your heart
While it breaks in two
Feels like a piece of your soul
Has been ripped from you
My intentions were pure
But guilt haunts me as
The price I paid was at high stakes
Now I learned that sometimes
The price of happiness means
Taking it from someone else
