≿ Jiinra ≾

In the south west reaches of the darkest, most malevolent forest of Roanor lies the secretive temple city of Jiinra. Very little is known of their people and even less is known of the city itself, its massive walls protect it from anyone or anything that might threaten them. And rightly so, as the forest surrounding them is one of the most dangerous, many have tried to breach their walls in the past and all have failed.

Asphodel walked through the dimly - lighted and forested expanse. She had never traveled in such a land. Trees towered above and around her.
A stream of water slowly trickled down. All kinds of herbs and fungi grew in the damp area. Asphodel knew well not to even brush past the malignant growth, as it was poisonous.
She continued her trek through the dark, dense forest. She faintly remembered the place. Around the place supposedly was a temple. She had heard tell of the temple, protected with enchanted walls, countless and powerful wards protecting it for years.
She felt the arcane energy ebbing and flowing from the center of the forest. She hurried her pace.
A shadow loomed over her. She could see the walls looming before her. She stopped, resting under the shadow of a large tree. She readied her longbow and arrows. She felt the presence of others.

a man in a darkened ropbe walked hurriedly through a hall, before abruptly stopping, a man had appeared in front of him "M-My Lady! the first ward has been crossed, we must tell Lo-" the cloaked woman put up a hand to stay his talking "it is alright, the first ward is often tripped, it is probably just another off trail traveller or some degenerate adventurere seeking fame, the forest will take care of whatever it is, like it has always done, the robed figure shifted anxiously, "but what if it-" she statyed him again "if the second ward is triggered then we can talk of that, just be calm, this is nothing new" he nodded, still unsure "okay.... i guess your right".....

in the woods the shadows stirred and there slithered and stomped silently a great beast, a wyrm a dragon bound to earth, it peered in the darkness guided by an arcane ward, its black eyes beholding an elf, out of place in his woods, it sped compeled by dark powers to kill the intruder, it ran with its massive, sleek, body, on its four powerful legs, shimmering green with dull brown, he came into view of the elf now and reared readying to swip at it with both claws

OOC: i spit a wyrm at you for jumping into jiinra >.<

Asphodel felt some invisible force jerking herself slightly. She heard the rustle of leaves behind her. She whipped her hair around, her hair flying wildly.
A long wyrm snaked its way slowly towards Asphodel, its sleek, serpentine body wrapping around trees, the wood creaking. Ebony eyes peered at the elf with interest, its long tongue poking out of its mouth, licking its three pairs of razor sharp teeth.
" Huh - ?! "
With a quick blur of motion, the wyrm lunged at Asphodel, its claws outstretched towards her. Asphodel barely managed to block the attack, her arms moving wildly as she unstrapped her daggers and stabbed at the wyrm. Before she could react, the wyrm snaked itself behind her with unnatural speed, its teeth closing in on the elf's neck.
Asphodel whirled around, stabbing one of her daggers into the eyes of the wyrm. The creature shrieked, a screeching noise that was unnaturally loud for Asphodel because of her enhanced hearing.
Damn, how is it that it can move this fast? Magical enhancements? Is it guarding this place - ?
The wyrm slowly snaked backwards, gathering itself for its next attack.

the wyrm whipped its head, pawing the dagger from its eye and stomping on it, bending it out of shape beneath its massive blow, it crouched as if readying to pounce the elf, letting out a low rumbling growl, it opened its mouth shooting out a clear deluge of liquid towards the elf, a passing leaf was caught in the cloud and crumpled into a black shriveled nothing

Cursing under her breath, Asphodel got herself into a battle position.
Liquid was shot from the wyrm's mouth, no doubt poisonous and deadly. Asphodel raised her hand and whispered under her breath a protective spell. A incandescent barrier was raised around her, protecting her. The poison stopped at the barrier, sliding down to the grass. A thin line of smoke rose from where the poison dropped, the grass around the area burning. The barrier materialized out of existence.
I can't let that touch me. And one of my daggers is gone .. :Asphodel thought, worried.
She readied her longbow, aiming an arrow on her bow. A long forked tongue hung out from the wyrm's mouth, clear saliva dripping from its mouth.
An arrow was shot from Asphodel's bow, aimed between the wyrm's eyes. The arrow narrowly missed; the wyrm hissed and rushed at Asphodel. Two more arrows were shot: one hitting its leg, the other missing. As the creature closed in on Asphodel, she forsook her arrows and longbow and took out her dagger. Leaping, she pounced on the wyrm quicker than the eye could follow, stabbing the dagger into its eye, digging deep into its head. As the wyrm swiped its claws at Asphodel, she leapt from the wyrm, leaving the dagger deeply embedded into the creature's left eye.
Damn, I meant to stab deep enough to cut through its skull. At least its partially blinded.
Asphodel silently moved to the wyrm's left side, her longbow and arrows readied.

the wyrm whipped around in a blind rage, both eyes now cut up and bleeding, it swiped and snapped blindly whipping its tail and body around, cutting up trees and tearing the ground up, it was practically the end

мσnтαguє : тhe dєvil's illusionisт ~

Deep within the dark forests of Jiinra, a woman leaned against a tree.
She was dark skinned, some of her dusty pale, spiky hair held up with a crimson leather strap. The rest of her hair was let down. A small golden flame played at her wrist. It flickered here and there, disappearing and reappearing as she flicked her fingers in the same direction.
Montague, as the woman was known, was garbed with crimson clothes, a long skirt flowing down around her legs. Attached to a golden belt was a whip, spikes jutting out the end of it. It was dark black, glinting and shining, as if it were polished daily. Her ears pointed slightly, as if she were an elf, yet something else as well. Earrings pierced her left ear, glyphs inscribed on them.
There were very little trees around her, and the ones that remained were burnt or had indentations cleaved into them that greatly resembled serpentine teeth. The trees that still stood were tall, reaching up to the sky, their dark leaves letting only small rays of light through. In fact, the only sources of illumination were the slight rays and Montague's magical fire.
Suddenly, she felt a jerk on her shoulder. She stopped moving her fingers, and the flame was still. Creaks were heard from afar, the sound of wood breaking. She heard rather loud screeches. Knowing it was the wyrm, she stood upright. With a flick of her fingers, the flame was extinguished. She readied a spell, but hesitated. Could it be a trap?
No, it was not. :she convinced herself. The jerk was a clue enough : it was her cue that the second ward had been crossed : someone or something had used magic within the forest. It was her job to track down the source of the magic and destroy it.
As she chanted an incantation, light surrounded around her. A ring of emerald flames closed in on her, playing harmlessly against the grass. As it closed in on her, her body disappeared.
The flame flickered out of existence.

She was down to her last arrow. One of her daggers was crushed by the wyrm. The other was left embedded inside the creature's eye.
It was blindly thrashing about, rampaging loudly. Liquidy poison dripped from the gaps between its crooked sharp teeth.
She would have to resort to magic. She raised her palm. A nimbus of energy formed at her wrist, swirling and becoming a jade orb of light. She released the magic, aiming it at the wyrm. It played harmlessly on its tough armor.
" Tch. "
Asphodel knelt down and touched the ground, careful to touch the grass and not the fungi nearby. As her fingers touched the surface, ropey vines erupted from the earth, wrapping around the wyrm. It writhed and screeched, but to no avail : she had immobilized it.

the wyrm hit the ground and gave a piercing screech that shook the tree's, it spewed the acid liquid in every direction it could turn its head, burning everything it could and scratching anything it could reach, it knew it was close to death but there wasnt much it could do.

the hooded figure from before ran hurriedly down a corridor, looking frantically "mistress!? mistress!?" another hooded figure approached him "what is it now?" he fidgeted "one of the first wards are being broken" she looked over "then give it some more power" he twitched "we have" she sighed "and none of the other wards have slipped?" he shook his head "maybe i should go re-power it personally...."

мσnтαguє : тhe dєvil's illusionisт ~

There was a flash of crimson light as Montague appeared in another part of the dark forest. Flames shot up from the earth, a ring of fire surrounding her. Her head was bowed, eyes were closed, and her arms were crossed, pointing at the ground, her hands in fists. She had followed the trail of arcane energy and it had led her to this place. She did not know what to expect, but, in any case, she was ready.
She opened her eyes quickly, and she scanned the area. The wyrm was entangled in a great mass of earthy veins, undoubtedly made from magic. A dagger encrusted with rubies was embedded in its head, a great scar spanning across its entire head. Several arrows were stabbed in its body. Nearby, the remains of a dagger of similar make was strewn across the grass. It appeared as if it was crushed. Trees around the wyrm were deteriorated, thin lines of smoke rising from its burnt bark.
About 2O feet away stood an elf. She looked greatly fatigued. A great bow with Elvish glyphs inscribed on it was held in her arms. However, she was not maimed by any injuries. Montague was slightly impressed that the elf had managed to damage the creature to such an extent. Impressed she was, but not intimidated.
Montague readied her whip, its blades glistening. She pointed her whip at the elf. It bursted into flames, harmlessly playing around her fingers.
"Elf, your existence here is unwanted. You shall not tread on this land. You shall fall."
Flames leapt from her whip, forming into a great serpent. The serpent charged at the elf, bearing its great fangs.
Montague had purposefully used this mirage spell for intimidation. It was essential that she had to intimidate her opponent. She could, perhaps, frighten them and catch them off guard. It was her battle style, her greatest asset.

Who -- ?!
The flaming serpent leapt at her, fangs bared. The eyes bored into her soul. She could not help but stare into the eyes. The serpent descended onto her, fangs closing in on her neck. Only when the dying wyrm screeched did she snap out of her daze.
She barked out a spell, desperate to protect herself. There was a blur of emerald energy and a flash of jade light. The bolts of energy missed the flaring serpent narrowly. The energy continued, their trajectory unchanging. It crashed against the wyrm. It was felled instantly, screching loudly with unearthly loudness.
The spell was enough to make the serpent hesitate and falter, its body leaping backwards and undulating with unmatched grace. It coiled around the dark-skinned elf.
Asphodel cursed under her breath. The wyrm was enough of a challenge: this was just too far. She could not handle this herself. She had to escape.
She quickly took her longbow, strapping it to her back. She bounded into the forest, not looking back at the elf. She chanted a quick spell, a nimbus of energy forming at her fingertips. The energy was shot at the dark-skinned elf.

the hooded man scrambled to the priestess, "MISTRESS ONE OF THE FIRST WARDS HAS BEEN BROKEN!" she looked up and walked silently towards a nearby votive statue "then I'll redirect the remaining wards to that point" she said simply, the hooded man flipped out "ALL NINE!!" the priestess nodded "Th-Thats overkill.." she looked back and a glowing white eye looked down on him "notify me immediately if any more go out, lord death may need to activate the secondary level" he nodded enthusiastically

back in the forest the wyrm screeched out its last pathetically, but in response came low screeches came from all direction, six for now, calling back and forth, birds flew from the directions the screams came from

OOC: get that dagger from its skull >:]

A streak of emerald light rushed at Montague. She moved herself away, the spell narrowly missing, destroying a tree nearby. Unfazed by the sudden attack, she leaped after the elf, the wyrm's cries reverberating through the entire forest. She cursed, aiming a spell at the creature. A flame leaped from her fingertips. A split second later, the wyrm was engulfed in flames. It's cries died out moments later; it had passed away.
Montague quickly moved from prey to prey, her whip following after her, along with her mirage serpent.
" You shall not escape from me, elf!"
A ring of violet flames shot up from the earth, surrounding the elf and Montague.
Her serpent towered above Montague, its body shaking and undulating with anticipation. With a quick blur, it lunged at the elf.
