P E R S E P H O N E :: goddess of spring, and Queen of the underworld in Greek mythology :: Summary:: -- In Greek mythology, Persephone is the daughter of Zeus and the harvest-goddess Demeter, and queen of the underworld. Homer describes her as the formidable, venerable majestic queen of the underworld, who carries into effect the curses of men upon the souls of the dead. Persephone was abducted by Hades, the god-king of the underworld. The myth of her abduction represents her function as the personification of vegetation which shoots forth in spring and withdraws into the earth after harvest; hence she is also associated with spring as well as the fertility of vegetation.Persephone used to live far away from the other deities, a goddess within Nature herself before the days of planting seeds and nurturing plants. In the Olympian telling, the gods Hermes and Apollo had wooed Persephone; but Demeter rejected all their gifts and hid her daughter away from the company of the Olympian deities. The story of her abduction by Hades against her will, is traditionally referred to as the Rape of Persephone. It is mentioned briefly in Hesiod's Theogony, and told in considerable detail in the Homeric Hymn to Demeter. Zeus, it is said, permitted Hades, who was in love with the beautiful Persephone, to carry her off as her mother Demeter was not likely to allow her daughter to go down to Hades. Persephone was gathering flowers with the Oceanids along with Artemis and Athena—the Homeric Hymn says—in a field when Hades came to abduct her, bursting through a cleft in the earth. Demeter, when she found her daughter had disappeared, searched for her all over the earth with torches. In most versions she forbids the earth to produce, or she neglects the earth and in the depth of her despair she causes nothing to grow. Helios, the sun, who sees everything, eventually told Demeter what had happened and at length she discovered the place of her abode. Finally, Zeus, pressed by the cries of the hungry people and by the other deities who also heard their anguish, forced Hades to return Persephone.Hades indeed complied with the request, but first he tricked her, giving her some pomegranate seeds to eat. Persephone was released by Hermes, who had been sent to retrieve her, but because she had tasted food in the underworld, she was obliged to spend a third of each year (the winter months) there, and the remaining part of the year with the gods above. With the later writers Ovid and Hyginus, Persephone's time in the underworld becomes half the year. :: Traits of her children :: ⇛ Children of Persephone are some of the sweetest students upon the first meaning. Although, a majority of them hold a dark and devious side that should be on careful watch. ⇛ Children of Persephone tend to be summer/spring people. Enjoying the warmth and rays of the sun. They get extremely depressed and moody in the fall/winter months. ⇛ Children of Persephone are naturally afraid of the dark. If they ever visit the underworld, they rarely stay long because of crippling fear. ⇛ Children of Persephone have a very prominent green thumb. No not literally. They just do exceptionally well with plant life, mainly flowers. :: Basic powers of her children ::⇛ Children of Persephone can manipulate and control the vegetation that surrounds them within the time that their godly mother is with Demeter, spring and summer months. They cannot, however, create it themselves. They can grow it further and bend it to their will in battle or in mundane life. ⇛ Children of Persephone in the times that their godly mother is within the underworld, fall and winter, can summon hellhounds to aid them in battle. The size and strength of the hound depends on the strength of the child. Beginners call upon small and weaker hellhounds; the stronger the demigod gets, the stronger the hellhounds get. ⇛ Children of Persephone can speak to the 'life' that is within plants and vegetation. The greens tell them of oncoming enemies and can transfer messages to other children of Persephone. ⇛ Children of Persephone can create a shield from plant life that can take anywhere from three to ten hits before the child has to either defend themselves or create a new one.

Stacie Ann Kirkwood --D aughter_O f_P ersephone-- : : : : ...i'm in here, can anybody see me?... ...can anybody help?... : : : ___________________________________________________________ Sergio had escorted Stacie all the way to her cabin. She had to say it looks as though nobody else has lived here before. She sort of liked that fact. Being the first of something gave her a bit of pride. She turned to Sergio with a smile and a nod of her head. "Thanks a bunch for helping me. I probably would have gone insane if I had to find it on my own." She laughed a small bit. "So, um, will I be seeing you around the camp grounds?"She asked hopefully. It would be nice to know a familiar face in the crowd, no matter how small the crowd. ___________________________________________________________ : : : ...i'm in here, a prisoner of history... ...can anybody help?...

"No problem Stacie." Sergio said to her with a smile. He probably would have went crazy if he didn't have siblings to help him when he first came to camp. He knew if he thought about that too much he would become depressed though so he answered her question. "Yea hopefully, I may get a bit to eat in a bit if your hungry." He said with a kind smile as he began to step out of her cabin. "Well uhm, have fun getting settled and everything. If ya need me, you know my cabin. Just leave a note or something."

It had been a few days since Sergio was out of his cabin on his own free will. Stacie had forced him out a few times, but not for very long. In all honesty, he wasn't upset that they broke up, any romantic feelings he had for Beau were pretty much gone now. He was just taking the loss of an amazing friend hard, especially after all they had gone through already. Yet, Sergio knew that he had to get out and stop worrying about if she would or wouldn't come back. That was totally out of his control, all he could control now was himself and what he did from here on out. So instead of sulking about the fact that his friend could die at any time, he decided to visit someone who had been on his mind almost as much as his own idiotic paranoia. After taking a deep gulp of air, expecting the worst, he knocked on the door to the Persephone cabin three times. "Hey Stacie? It's me, I just really wanted to get out and see you." He said with a light smile as he waited for her response, expecting the worst but hoping for the best.

Stacie Ann Kirkwood --D aughter_O f_P ersephone-- : : : : ...i'm in here, can anybody see me?... ...can anybody help?... : : : ___________________________________________________________ Stacie had chose to stay in a bit today. While it was nice outside, she drew the curtains in her cabin and allowed the sunlight to hit the arrangement of flowers that sat in a vase on a small table in front of her. She hadn't gotten a real chance to paint in a while, so she thought to go back to cliched basics. Every so often flicking her green eyes to the budding orchids surrounded by baby's breath and various leaves, she mixed colors to blend and match the real thing. Her concentration was broken when a sudden knock fell on her door and was followed by a voice she had grown fond of. A smile slipped onto her lips as she skipped to the door. Before she opened the door, she fixed her hair as best she could, it being in a messy bun and her baggy sweater sleeves were rolled up to her elbows. Taking a steadying breath she opened the door to come face to face with Sergio. "Well, hello." She beamed, her eyes capturing the sunlight of the day, bits of paint stained her hands and a spot or two on her full cheeks. "I'm just hanging around, would you wanna come in? Unless you wanted to go out and do something, that is." She stepped away from the door, allowing him to enter if he chose to. ___________________________________________________________ : : : ...i'm in here, a prisoner of history... ...can anybody help?...

He instantly felt relieved when he heard the girls welcoming voice, like all the stress of how she'd react melted away right there. "Maybe I should come in, you look a little preoccupied." He told her with a slight chuckle as he stepped through the doorway. In all honesty he had never been in her cabin, usually she was the one to go to his cabin or they'd meet up on some random chance of fate. It took him a few moments to look around and notice all the art supplies strewn around the cabin. He had absolutely no idea that she even painted, which he voiced pretty quick. "I didn't know you painted. You look cute by the way." He told her with a playful wink. "So whatcha painting?"

Stacie Ann Kirkwood --D aughter_O f_P ersephone-- : : : : ...i'm in here, can anybody see me?... ...can anybody help?... : : : ___________________________________________________________ The daughter of Persephone followed behind the Zeus child into the depths of her cabin. She watched with slight apprehension as Sergio looked over her cabin and the painting that stood center stage. She fiddled with her shirt hem as he complimented her in such a nonchalant type of manner, sending a cheeky wink in her direction. A heavy blush appeared on her face, contrasting the white and purple paint. "Yeah, frizzy messy buns and over sized paint stained sweaters. I'm adorable." She winked back, feeling more comfortable around him recently, her playful nature was peaking through every so often. Sitting back in her chair, she gestures to the vase of flowers. "I grew some orchids and baby's breath. I haven't painted in a while so I thought to go back to the basics. I mainly did portraits when I was in full swing, but I've been interested in vegetation recently." She motioned to the scattered canvases around her humble abode. Taking up her brush again, she pointed to the closest bed near her. "Sit down, chill out." She smirked. Mixing purple and white to form a lavender color she delicately stroked the wet paint into the areas she deemed to have the need for it. She darted her eyes quickly over to Sergio with a small and crooked smile. "How have you been? You sorta lost your chatty nature lately." She asked with mild concern lacing her voice. ___________________________________________________________ : : : ...i'm in here, a prisoner of history... ...can anybody help?...

Sergio noticed the heavy blush that formed on the girls cheeks and instantly perked up a bit more. "I wouldn't argue with that." He told her in his suave nature that he probably inherited from his father in regards to her calling herself adorable. He gratefully took a seat on one of the long empty beds, which made him come to a sudden realization. She didn't have any siblings either, well at least none that lived her. He automatically felt just an inch closer to her knowing that they shared a bit of a lone wolf complex in their respective cabins. "Ya know, you paint really well. A whole lot better then i could at least." He told her with a smile etched into his face. When she asked how he had been, he began making eye contact with the random nails or etches in her floorboard "I don't know, I'm sorry I haven't been up for talking lately. It's just weird loosing a best friend again ya know? I'm just worried about Beau and if she's safe. I mean she didn't exactly handle the lion that well so I already feel bad about that. I just dont want some close to me to die again." His voice trailed slightly on the last few words as he began to awkwardly shuffle his feet, not knowing what else there was to say.

Stacie Ann Kirkwood --D aughter_O f_P ersephone-- : : : : ...i'm in here, can anybody see me?... ...can anybody help?... : : : ___________________________________________________________ As Sergio explained himself, Stacie stopped her painting for a moment to give him her full attention. She let her eyes hold a bit of sympathy for the boy. She saw how close the two were and she didn't even know the full story, so there may have been other factors. All in all she just wanted to take his mind of it. Seeing him upset was not something she wanted in any way. After few beats of silence she stood from her seat and switched her spot to be next to Sergio. She placed a comforting hand on the top of his thigh and heaved a bit of a sigh. "I would like to say 'I understand.' or 'I know what you're going through.', but I don't understand or know what you are going through. Really all I can do, is distract you." She finalized. With a light pat on his leg she nodded her head over to the stool with a smirk on her face. "You are going to finish the last touches on my painting, come on." Stacie stood and held out a hand to the sad boy with a playful and welcoming smirk tugging are her shapely pink lips. "Don't make me stand here awkwardly with my hand outstretched, I'll teach you how paint at least a little better." She chuckled a bit and scratched at the back of her neck. She knew it was a random idea, but it was something they could do that would have no connection to the recent events of the camp. ___________________________________________________________ : : : ...i'm in here, a prisoner of history... ...can anybody help?...

Sergio gave the girl a light smile and took her hand quite eagerly. "Thanks Stacie, I know you don't totally understand, but i'm glad your here" He told her with a kind smile. Then of course he had to do something daring and maybe a little stupid or sudden, so he gave her a quick peck on the cheek before he let her lead him to the nearly finished painting. He honestly had almost no idea how to paint anything, but at least the colors were already mixed so that was a huge plus. He picked up the brush and waited for her instruction, not wanting to dive in headfirst and ruin all of her amazing work so far. Then just out of randomness, he pointed out a quick observation. "Ya don't seem as nervous as earlier in the week, what was up with that anyway?" Sergio asked the girl quizzically as he lazered in his focus to the painting in front of him.

Stacie Ann Kirkwood --D aughter_O f_P ersephone-- : : : : ...i'm in here, can anybody see me?... ...can anybody help?... : : : ___________________________________________________________ Stacie was a bit thrown off by the sudden kiss on her paint stained cheek. It was bold and something that she'd expect from a Zeus kid, but not this soon. Regardless, she flushed just a tad before shaking it away and standing behind the boy as he situated himself on the stool she once sat on. Not a moment after she took a breath to speak, Sergio spoke up again, this time pointing out her flustered nature a few days ago. She had hoped he would forget about that. Evidently, he didn't. Sighing a bit, she thought of something to say that would reveal her budding puppy crush for the boy. "I was just in a weird place that day, ya know? Just one of those out-of-the-blue moods." She giggled lightly and then changed the subject quickly to the paint lesson. Taking his hand in her's, gently, she brought the brush down to dab into the mixed paint. "You want to be gentle. Softly just let the brush make the shape of the petals for you." She spoke calmly and serenely. She applied minimal pressure to his hand for him to mimic, making an extremely small half-circular motion to represent an orchid's ethereal shape. "Don't try to copy exactly what you see, you won't ever get it right. Everything a painter does is unique. No two flower paintings, even of the same type of flower, are ever the same." When she spoke, her love of the art was clear in the tone of her voice. You could almost her the smile that inched it's way onto her face. ___________________________________________________________ : : : ...i'm in here, a prisoner of history... ...can anybody help?...

Sergio allowed himself to blush slightly with the gentle touch of her hand. He honestly didn't realize how close they were at this moment. Even though he knew she was just showing him how to paint in a friendly way, something Beau had told him still resonated in his mind. In all honesty the son of Zeus had no idea how to feel. Yes, Stacie was an amazing girl and he was starting to develop some feelings. But on the flip side of that, he didn't wanna throw himself out there again just to get rejected once things turned good. Plus was Beau right and did Stacie really like him that way. All of this began to flow in his already cluttered mind, that is until Stacie's voice put him back in focus. He let her words and gentle hand guide him through the last portion of the painting. It was actually extremely relaxing, plus the love of art that Stacie had was pretty evident in her voice, which compelled the usually rash and impulsive Zeus child to just slow down and take his time on something. Stuff that took time and patience wasn't really his forte, but he felt so calmed and at ease just from finish off a few brush strokes of a flower. Once he was finished it honestly didn't look half bad, well at least his part, Stacie's part was actually quite amazing. Just so nothing got too tense or awkward again the boy decided to make a joke just to keep the mood light. " Looks more like a egg then a flower, but I really like it!" He said with a laugh before he turned and made eye contact into the girls vibrant green irises. " Sorry that your day was kinda weird and sorry that I've been acting really weird." He honestly was beginning to think he effected her nerves that day. But his mind chose to stay oblivious to that and offer up a new activity. " So you taught me something, how about I teach you something else?"

Stacie Ann Kirkwood --D aughter_O f_P ersephone-- : : : : ...i'm in here, can anybody see me?... ...can anybody help?... : : : ___________________________________________________________ When the painting was finally finished, she felt herself smile just a tad as Sergio joked a bit on his work. It did have an egg shape, but Stacie didn't mind at all, she really enjoyed the fact that he and she actually did something wonderful and calming together. "It's a new breed of flower." She laughed quietly. When he turned to lock eyes with her, she felt her heart jump slightly. His apologies were unneeded and it caused the daughter of Persephone to smile warmly. "It's all good, really, I understand. Well, sort of." She corrected herself a bit at the end, recalling her earlier statements. "What I really mean is that I comprehend and accept that you are going through some tough stuff, if that makes any sense." She rambled a bit before just waving it off as Sergio offered to now teach her something new, since she had gave him some pointers on how to paint. "Yeah! That sounds like a good idea." She agreed. "What did you have in mind?" ___________________________________________________________ : : : ...i'm in here, a prisoner of history... ...can anybody help?...

Sergio laughed along with the girl and decided to give the new breed of flower a name. " We should call it the Stacie since it's so beautiful." He said in a totally suave tone and tossed a confident wink to the girl. He was pretty glad this girl wouldn't hold much of a grudge about his recent behavior. It was a huge change of pace for the son of Zeus recently, with his dad being the ultimate grudge holder some of that was bound to pass down to him plus he was pretty sure Beau was quite mad with him over a few things when she left. He was honestly pretty happy that Stacie was just so different from him. She was calming and reassuring while he was stormy and somewhat harsh at times. Even though the girl could be sarcastic, he honestly didn't mind and felt that her sarcasm was usually well deserved in the moment. Hanging around her just felt totally different and honestly quite uplifting. Just to ease any more doubt between the two the boy returned her warm smile and said " No it totally makes sense, but I think things are gunna be a lot better soon. Specially since I have such a great friend to talk to." He even placed his hand on hers just to reaffirm his point. " Anyway, I was thinking that I could help ya learn to fight more so your more prepared if we go on a quest again." He figured this would be an even trade off, plus the more time Sergio spent with her the better in his mind. He had trained so much since he had first arrived at the academy, why not pass down some of his unique fighting talents to the girl?

Stacie Ann Kirkwood --D aughter_O f_P ersephone-- : : : : ...i'm in here, can anybody see me?... ...can anybody help?... : : : ___________________________________________________________ Stacie rolled her eyes in a joking manner when Sergio threw in his little compliment. He was so full of himself sometimes that it made the demigoddess want to laugh and shove him or something. Regardless, it was still a sweet comment that she blushed lightly over before listening to his idea on what the two could do next on this wonderful day. He suggested that he teach Stacie how to fight with a bit more confidence. To be honest that was a very good choice. She wasn't the most daring or ferocious girl on the battle field, and with the experience this boy has had she was sure that growth would happen. Nodding her head in compliance, she smirked at the curly headed boy. "I like that a lot actually. I'm down." She confirmed. With that, she skipped towards the door and swung it open to let the sun in. "I promise to go easy on you." She stated coyly. She then exited her cabin quickly and ran towards the arena. "I bet I can beat you there!" She called out with a childish laugh. ___________________________________________________________ : : : ...i'm in here, a prisoner of history... ...can anybody help?...[EXIT]
