((Note: I will be editing and reediting this information until I have as much information as I can find from many different places.))

Drow are the most feared denizens of the underdark, and with good reason. Since the civil war that first exiled the dark elves under the earth, they have been forced to fight for survival on a daily basis. Watched over by dark gods with cruel ambitions, the drow have spent thousands of years evolving into scheming, power-hungry warlords.
The drow are also referred to as the Illythiiri or just “dark elves." They comprise some of the most powerful spellcasters. They are typically quite evil, possessing a complex and rich culture. Drow are swift, cunning, and innately resistant to magic.

Drow are, on the whole, sadistic, arrogant, cruel, destructive, hedonistic, and treacherous. They play an eternal game of advancement at the expense of others which is encouraged by the spider goddess and has transformed the dark elves into a race of scheming backstabbers who are eager to increase their own stations by pulling down those ahead of them and crushing their inferiors underfoot. They trust no one and nothing. Most are incapable of compassion, kindness, or love. If they are capable of such emotions, they are incapable of bringing themselves to express such emotions because of the rampant distrust of their society. In their mindset there is little room for friendship. They may secretly value other family members or acquaintances, but because their overly suspicious, and paranoid, natures taint any strong relationships they may form. Some go as far as to be actively murderous and delight in the giving of pain.
Most do not honor their promises or maintain their personal loyalties once it becomes inconvenient to do so. Pride lends them a certain sense of style and appreciation for subtlety. They can be courteous and urbane to eben their deadly rivals. They enjoy surrounding themselves with beautiful things and give hardly a thought to the cost. Their fascination with beauty also extends to the physical body. Drow of both sexes often display their physiques to degrees that other societies may find vulgar. Most drow children who exhibit physical deformities or deficiencies are slain.

Poisons

Velkyn Ogglin ("Invisible Foe")
Contact Neurotoxin
This is a rare poison and it is taken from the toxin sacs of the uncommon *dakhree* fish that swims in certain Underdark lakes. The brewer has to remove the sacs with gloves on his hands if he wishes to avoid being poisoned. The poison sacs are located all over the fish's six-inch body, and are tiny, requiring a steady hand and delicacy to remove effectively which is what makes this poison so rare. At the time of onset, the poison causes the victim to convulse as the potent substance attacks the nervous system. The victim then begins grand mal seizures and suffers spinal damage, his back arching and twisting violently as his body jerks involuntarily. If the poison is not neutralized before it has run it's course, the victim will require a cure serious wounds spell to recover from the nervous system damage.
The onset of this poison is 1-4 minutes.

Khaless ("Trust")
Injected Neurotoxin
This is the famous sleep-poison of the drow. It is used on their crossbow bolts to immobilize an enemy so that he can be killed at leisure. ingredient comes from the spores of the oloth'arr mushroom. The poison attacks the central nervous system, causing the victim to fall asleep.
The onset of this poison is 1-2 minutes

Belbol d'Elghinn ("Gift of Death")
Injected Hemotoxin
This is a powerful poison and greatly prized by drow nobles for assassination. It is also called Elash Elghinn ("Silent Death"), after the venomous water serpent of the same name. The venom takes effect immediately, causing damage to the victim's blood vessels and causes dramatic, extensive hemorrhaging. The victim will gush blood from his mouth, eyes, nose and ears within minutes. They will have time to develop bruises all over their body before they mercifully die. Drow find death caused by this venom to be particularly entertaining. There are, however, certain individuals who seem to be immune to Belbol d'Elghinn and upon whom it has no effect at all. When it does work, it causes a spectacular (if regrettably short) show.
The onset of this poison is immediate.

Orbb'st Ssrin ("Spider's Kiss")
Ingested Septicemic
Brewed from the poisons of five different spiders. Since all spiders are sacred to Lolth, the venoms must be carefully harvested without killing the spiders. All spiders used are huge in size which allows for more the venom to harvested easier. Collected venoms are dried to a powder and added to a strongly flavored food or drink as it does have a sour taste. The poison causes chills, fever, and prostration for several hours. If not halted by a neutralize poison spell, does permanent damage to the body's immune system. This makes the more susceptible to disease and poison in the future.
The onset of this poison is 2-6 minutes.

Golhyrr del'Ilharess ("Trap of the Matron")
Ingested, Cumulative Irritant
This poison is the flesh of the rare krashyll mushroom. Successful administering of this poison to one's enemies is seen as quite the victory of cuel'a'cul (drow ritual of slowly, over time, destroying one's enemy while remaining blameless). Must be given in six stages, its poison slowly building in the body, in doses no more than a two tendays apart. As drow are a suspicious race, it is easy to why success with this poison is greatly admired and worthy of the twisted, centuries long plots of the Matron Mothers. Its name also suggests that it requires the power and subtlety of a Matron Mother to use effectively. After administering the sixth dose, death will take its victim in half an hour, causing the throat to suddenly close up in massive anaphylactic shock. Victim dies of asphyxiation within minutes unless an antidote or neutralize poison spell is used. Note that while choking to death, a priestess can't cast any spells.
Onset: Special

Jal wun Jivvin ("All in Fun")
Injected, Debilitative Irritant
Compared to some of the other poisons used by the drow, this is no more than a gentle warning. Not directly fatal though the one poisoned might wish it were otherwise. Could become lethal if the poisoner is able to strike while his victim is weakened. This poison is brewed from the venom pouch of the rakhyrr, a blind species of underground toad. Victim is plagued by intense nausea, vomiting, fever, chills, and malaise. A neutralize poison spell will take care of it immediately, limiting its usefulness.
Onset: 1-6 hours

Rathrae Dos ("Behind You")
Injected Neurotoxin
Poison greatly favored by Matron Mothers for use in their torture chambers. Brewed from the venom of the ghostyk, a strange insectoid creature that resembles a praying mantis, it attacks the central nervous system, rendering its victim completely incapable of movement though fully capable of feeling pain. Why it is so prized by the drow should be obvious. Note that this is a biological, not magical or terror induced effect: elves are fully susceptible.
Onset: 2 - 12 minutes

Haszak ("Mind Flayer")
Injected, Special
Not strictly speaking a poison, but a potent alchemical creation. Using a certain nerve cluster of the brain of an illithid, the potion is magical in nature. It's cost reflects both the rarity of its active ingredient and its unusually long duration. It is an effective, if expensive, toxin to use against a spellcaster, as it acts in almost all respects as the feeblemind spell. It does have an interesting variation, though: Rather than reduce the victim to a state of retardation, it causes hallucinations and paranoid delusions for its entire duration, punctuated only by interludes of catatonia. Dearly loved by the sadistic drow.

Quality - Superiority

Know they are superior, especially to surface elves.

Born with abilities that other races would kill to have which makes it only make sense that the lesser races should be jealous and hateful towards them.

Whether openly derisive of other races or quietly condescending, they make others understand that whatever powers they may gain, they can never match what drow accomplish by simply being born.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 30, 2011 5:03 pm

Quality - Egotism

Believe in themselves because faith in others is foreign to them.

Have always relied on their skills and wits to survive. They must continue to believe that they can or they'll succumb to the depredations of other drow trying to scramble up the social ladder.

Quality - Suspicious

Treachery and lies are expected in drow society. Devastating betrayal is admired.

Despite their sense of superiority, most fear that other creatures will get the better of them somehow.

They are always on their guard.

They are not openly on their suspicious (this would lead to an attack), but they are wary and choose their words carefully.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 30, 2011 5:13 pm

Quality - Humility

A necessary skill in their cutthroat culture.

Confronted on equal or lesser footing with a being of greater power, they will often abase themselves to survive. Dead don't get revenge.

Switch from superiority to groveling when needed. If one survives, one can always make them grovel before oneself later.

Quality - Caution

Take calculated risks.

Rarely fight for anything but themselves.

For a greater cause, such as serving a deity or the survival of the house, they make the greater risks.

Only most fanatic fight fearlessly.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 30, 2011 5:19 pm

Quality - Drive

They take steps toward some end with everything they do.

The most driven are usually the most powerful.

Greed

Hunger for wealth and power. The hunger is greater than mere avarice.

See wealth as a means of power and power as a means of control which they need. See power and control as security.

Need to feel as if they are the manipulators rather than the manipulated.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 30, 2011 5:36 pm

Hate

All drow hate all other drow.

Hatred stems in many cases from envy.

A drow who sees someone more powerful, more intelligent, or more secure sees an enemy.

When a drow's self-hatred and self-doubt outweigh his hatred of others, he fails to take risks and can no longer seize what should be his.

Gluttony

There are very few obese drow, but they do exist.

They do engage in binge eating.

Being overweight or obsessed with food is a weakness and weakness is deadly.

Same is true for alcohol.
