This is a battle tutorial for the Trainer named Kent Forest.
If you haven't read the Battle and Example Battle threads, you should do so. They may seem confusing, but they will help you to understand battling.

A lone Pokemon Trainer named Mikkel stood inside of an empty arena. The Trainer had light brown hair and a pair of excited blue eyes. He wore fairly basic clothing, which he favored because it was very comfortable. Mikkel heard a high pitched creaking noise towards the entrance of the large building. After looking in the direction of the sound, he noticed a fledgling Pokemon Trainer enter the space. Without taking the time to properly introduce himself, he shouted, "Hey! I challenge you to a Pokemon match!" He then reached down to his belt, withdrew a shiny Pokeball, and lobbed it into the air towards the newcomer. As it began to fall towards the ground, the Pokeball opened, releasing a bright red light. After the light faded, a pink blob was revealed. The Trainer shouted once more, "Let us begin, go Dopple!" Mikkel had a confident look on his face, as if he expected to win the battle before it began. He was confident that his Ditto would be able to handle anything that came out of his new opponent's Pokeball.

First Pokemon: Ditto Ditto's Speed: 5 Mikkel's Dexterity: 10

Kent had been minding his own business, completely absorbed in a little book he was writing in. He'd been muttering to himself and hadn't even noticed the trainer at the other end of the arena. Until he shouted, taking Kent completely by surprise. "AAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!" His foot slipped on the tile as he had shifted to run away instinctualy. He fell backwards onto the ground. "Ooowww. I'm fine." His brain had finally clicked that this guy wasn't an actual threat. Kent sat up in time to see the guy release a pokemon. Well, either that or just a pile of purple. Dang, he wasn't going to be able to get out of a pokemon match. "Torchic." Thoth hopped up next to him. The Torchic had been out following him, and had managed to escape his failed escape attempt. Kent sighed and nodded and Torchic hopped forward, with a very serious expression on his face. Kent stood up, "I don't suppose there's any way I can talk you out of this, uh guy person?"First Pokemon: Torchic Torchic's Speed: 6 Kent's Dex: 8

Mikkel grinned and shook his head. "Not a chance! Now are you ready to begin or what?" The Trainer demanded. He really wanted to see what his opponent's Torchic was made of. The youngster was eager to begin the match, but it was clear that the Torchic had the edge on his Ditto in terms of speed. This fact didn't matter to Mikkel, he strongly believed that Dopple would manage to beat their new opponent.
Since this is the first round of the battle, the Trainers have already used up their turns by sending out their Pokemon. It is now the Pokemon's turn to act. Torchic's Speed is higher than Dittos, so he may use a move.

Kent sighed again. He might have been more enthusiastic at any other time, but he had been in the middle of something else when the boy had interrupted. "Fine, yeah, let's just get this over with." He looked at the other boy's pokemon. "How the hell do you hurt a pile of purple goop?" He muttered. "Alright, Thoth, try using scratch." His Torchic immediately began hopping forward, eyes intent on the ditto. When he was near enough, he leaped forward, slashing out at the ditto with his claws. Scratch – Normal The user throws out their clawed arm, scraping the target’s body. At-Will – 2 Melee Physical Damage Check: 2d10 Effect: 1 Target

25(Scratch) - 5(Ditto's Defense) = 20 Damage Dealt
The attack creates a gash in the Ditto. The Pokemon still has some fight in it, but it's definitely looking like it's quickly going downhill at this point.
Ditto is still standing, but is quite beaten up.
The young Trainer was amazed at the power of the Torchic's Scratch attack. At this point, he was already beginning to lose some confidence in his odds of winning the fight. However, Mikkel only ever gave up if he believed that the battle wasn't going to be won and he still had faith in his Ditto. "Dopple, I know you're hurting, but let's attempt to match their power with your Transform!" The pink blob began to glow for a few moments before its shape shifted from that of an ambiguous form to a distinctly birdlike creature. "Alright, let's do this!"
Transform – Normal The user takes on the form of a pokemon they see, learning all of their abilities and gaining all of their knowledge. Battle – None Ranged None Effect: No Target The user assumes the form of any Pokemon it sees and learns all of that specific Pokemon’s Moves, gains its ability, copies its weight and height and knows everything the Pokemon knows for the encounter, or until the user chooses to revert to its original form, or the user uses Transform to change into something else. The user still knows the move Transform after they have transformed. The user’s Stats do not change.

Kent's eyes grew wide at the sight of the ditto transforming into a Torchic. Even Thoth cocked his head to the side a little bit in puzzlement. There certainly wasn't anything like that on Cinnabar. So, a shapeshifting pile of goo, any other surprises? Oh, wait a second. He began rummaging in his pockets, pulling out a red device. He'd almost forgotten about this. He flipped it open and pointed it at the purple pokemon. Using Pokedex

"Ditto, a Transform Pokémon. It is able to rearrange the cells of its body and assume any form. Its only attack is Transform."

"Huh, that's pretty cool. Though if that's its only move, how does it attack?" Kent looked up at the two pokemon. The only reason he knew which was his was because one looked like it was having trouble, the transformed Ditto. "Better not find out. Thoth, scratch it again!" Torchic hopped forward quickly, leaping up to deliver a downward slash at the offending pokemon. It wasn't particularly happy at being copied. 20(Damage Dealt) - 5 (Ditto's Defense) = 15 Damage dealt.
The attack moderately the Ditto, it inflicts enough force to knock it down.
Ditto faints.
Unfortunately for Mikkel, the power of the Torchic's Scratch attack was just too much for Dopple to handle. The young Trainer let out a disappointed sigh and raised his Pokeball, aiming it at the Ditto. "I'm sorry that it came to this. Dopple, return." He looked up to his opponent. "You did well in this fight, but don't count me out. My dream is to someday own my own Pokemon gym.... I hope that we meet again!" With that, the youngster vanished into the dimly lit parts of the arena, leaving his opponent by himself in the vast place.
You may evenly distribute 150 Experience Points to the Pokemon you used in this fight. Before adding any points to your Pokemon's profile, you have to make a post in the Experience Report thread, located in the Game System sub-forum. Instructions about what you need to do in that thread may be found in the first post.
If your Pokemon levels up once or more than once, you'll need to make a post in the Pokemon Profile Approval thread. Visit the Pokemon Experience Chart for details on when your Pokemon levels up and what happens when your Pokemon levels up.
