This is a battle tutorial for the Trainer named Nearra Cullen.

If you haven't read the Battle and Example Battle threads, you should do so. They may seem confusing, but they will help you to understand battling.

A lone Pokemon Trainer named Mikkel stood inside of an empty arena. The Trainer had light brown hair and a pair of excited blue eyes. He wore fairly basic clothing, which he favored because it was very comfortable. Mikkel heard a high pitched creaking noise towards the entrance of the large building. After looking in the direction of the sound, he noticed a fledgling Pokemon Trainer enter the space. Without taking the time to properly introduce himself, he shouted, "Hey! I challenge you to a Pokemon match!" He then reached down to his belt, withdrew a shiny Pokeball, and lobbed it into the air towards the newcomer. As it began to fall towards the ground, the Pokeball opened, releasing a bright red light. After the light faded, a pink blob was revealed. The Trainer shouted once more, "Let us begin, go Dopple!" Mikkel had a confident look on his face, as if he expected to win the battle before it began. He was confident that his Ditto would be able to handle anything that came out of his new opponent's Pokeball.

Nearra was filled with excitement as she walked up to the building. She had never seen any architecture to this measure. She scouted for the entrance and ran to the door. She opened the door slowly and crept inside, barely able to keep her excitement at bay. She was surprised to find an empty arena with the exception of a basic looking boy with light brown hair. Then all of a sudden she heard the arrogant words, “Hey! I challenge you to a Pokemon match!” come out of the overconfident boy’s mouth. Well this was unexpected she thought to herself. She scrambled for her Pokeball which was secured on her grey belt given to her by her Grandmother. Then a flash of red light shone and out sprung her challenger’s Ditto Pokemon. She then gripped her Pokeball, hurled it in the air and said “I choose you, Tom Cruise.” Her Pokeball hit the floor and a blue light flashed and out came her Staryu Pokemon.

Since Staryu's Speed is higher than Ditto's, it may now use a move.

As Tom Cruise came out of the Pokeball it gurgled with excitement. This was the Stayu’s first battle with its trainer Nearra and it was ready to win for her. Tom Cruise realized right away that it was faster than the Ditto the challenger had brought into the fight and it would use that to its advantage. Staryu heard Nearra say “Use your Tackle, Tom Cruise!” So the Staryu without any hesitation geared up and headed straight for the Ditto using all its Staryu might.

Tackle – Normal
The user throws themselves at the target, their whole weight impacting them.
At-Will – 3
Melee Physical
Damage Check: 2d10
Effect: 1 Target, Weight Class
For each Weight Class the user is above the target, they deal additional 1d10 damage.

Tackle Damage Check: 2d10 = 11

11 (Dice Roll) + 4 (Weight) + 5 (Total Attack) = 20 Physical Damage

Weight Roll
PostPosted: Fri Jan 21, 2011 2:53 am

You're missing two things in your attack. The first thing is your Move's Accuracy Check. You will need to roll 1d20 to determine if your move hits or not. Normally, you do that when you declare which move you're using. Since you didn't do it, you can just make another post that says "Accuracy Check: ", roll a 1d20, and fill in what the roll is.

There is also one more number that you will need to add to the damage dealt by Tackle.

Since Tackle is a Physical Attack, you must add your Pokemon's Total Attack Stat to the damage dealt.

When you get the chance, update your post with this info. The match will continue when you've rolled your Accuracy Check in a new post and when you've added the extra damage dealt.

20(Damage Dealt) - 5(Ditto's Defense) = 15 Damage Dealt

The attack seems to hit Ditto fairly hard. Ditto is beginning to look worn out.

Ditto is still standing.

The Staryu smashed its body into Mikke's Ditto, causing the pink Pokemon to fall back a little. Ditto was still holding on, but Mikkel could tell that the Tackle attack had really managed to hurt it. "I know you're hurting, Dopple, but I know that you can hold on a little longer. Let's mix things up with your Transform!" The puddle of pink ooze began to glow. As the light emitted from the Ditto began to intensify, its shape also shifted from that of a blob into something that resembled a star. As the light faded, it was clear that Ditto had changed into a Staryu. "Let's see them beat us in this form, Dopple! Get ready to win!"

Transform – Normal
The user takes on the form of a pokemon they see, learning all of their abilities and gaining all of their knowledge.
Battle – None
Ranged None
Effect: No Target
The user assumes the form of any Pokemon it sees and learns all of that specific Pokemon’s Moves, gains its ability, copies its weight and height and knows everything the Pokemon knows for the encounter, or until the user chooses to revert to its original form, or the user uses Transform to change into something else. The user still knows the move Transform after they have transformed. The user’s Stats do not change.

The round ends. Trainers may now use their Actions.

Since Mikke's Dexterity is higher than Nearra's, he will go first.

Mikkel chooses to skip his Trainer Action.

Nearra may skip her Trainer Action or use one of the available Trainer Actions

Nearra watched as the challenging Ditto turned into a twin of Tom Cruise. She was a little irritated at this challenging trainer for choosing to use a Ditto pokemon at this point. But she wasn’t too worried about it after she had the brilliant idea to use her Pokedex to plan for her upcoming attack. Nearra flipped open her bright red Pokedex that her Grandma got her for her tenth birthday and pointed it at the opponent Ditto in the form
of a Staryu.
