Basic Info

Brief History

The Draconis Empire was originally founded in 0 AG (After Gaia) when First or Lost Gaia was destroyed by enemy forces the people of Lost Gaia were flung into space and around 550 AG founded the Draconis Empire they founded a republic in the form of a crescent moon that hugged the southwestern part of the now Draco Galaxy Draconian history officially starts with the founding of the original colonies by Draconis himself and runs up to modern times and the present day with wars and events such as the Dark Age and the Conscinousness Wars and Succession Wars filling out the space in between. The Draconis Empire is made up of 100 billion systems and is composed of 93% Temperate worlds, 2% Desert and Ice worlds, 1% Gas giants, 2% volcanic worlds, and 2% Twilight planets. The people of the Empire are highly religious and several cross special celebrations dominate the Draconis calendar including the Ogles'dash (Rememberance of the Dead) and the Tahana Ocle (Founder's Birthday) the state religion is Yu Yevon and is centered in the Second Gaia city of Bevelle which is the home of all 200 religions including all the old Gaia and Earth religions.

Foreign Policy

The foreign policy of the Empire isn't far removed from that of other Star Nations the Dracons Empire maintains a Naval base on the surface of Mars in the Sol sector and though this is the only foreign base the Empire maintains talks are currently underway to acquire additional forward bases for the purposes of advanced strike bases, forward staging areas, depots for humanitarian aid and more given the new reforms all bases come under the jurisdiction of the Royal Navy while the Suwayyah Marines provide a anti boarding and police action for the Navy as well as manning the installations helping maintain law and order and discipline in the crews as well as providing extra hands to assist the crews during combat. The Empire is currently abstining from wars except in pure defence as it is currently occupied with other military endeavors.

Government Structure

The Draconis government is based around the Emperor himself who heads the executive branch of government even with the new reforms he maintains a very large amount of control over the other branches including his own very few things can be done without his approval and signing off on. The other two branches are th judicial lead by the High Fane court and the legistlative lead by the newly formed Imperial Senate. From here power is directly given to the individual planetary governors called Magistrates who sometimes form their own unions for better systemwide distribution of power however permission must be given by the Emperor and Imperial Senate.

Entertainment

Entertainment in the Empire is varied and plentiful. On Second Gaia the city of Luca is the entertainment mecca of the planet however many Draco planets have plenty of their own stadiums where sports such as Hyperball, Blitzball, Hover racing, and gladitorial games are held for people of more sophisticated refinement or those with weaker stomachs large amphitheatres still play the classical comedies and dramas of Ancient Greece and Rome along with 20th century Earth humor and alien humor discovered after the Gaian invasion of the now Draco Galaxy. Many homes of the Empire also have sensovisions and holovisions allowing access to everyday media programing as well as portable and at home gaming systems bio computers for personal use still provid the staple of Draconian entertainment as the Hyperwave Internet becomes bigger and bigger Psionic entertainment allows for pleasant and fun thoughts to be directly downloaded into a person's mind as well as VR googles providing some of the most intense gaming moments available.

Education

Education is accomplished by sending students to special psionic schools students sit in telepathy seats where psionic helmuts download the nescessary academic info directly into the brain it is quick, painless and can be safely done over and over each day allowing quick transfer of information that normally would have taken a lifetime of education to be completed in a matter of 2-3 years this psionic education is backed up by traditional reading and writing techniques coupled with lessons in typing resulting in a well rounded and very well educated student who is educated on a wide variety of topics.

Communication

Communications is runned by the government controlled Draconis News Network or the DNN. They transmit info over a variety of mediums such as the Hyperwave Internet, Hyperwave Network (wormhole transmission), holovision, sensovision, and wireless field computers (for the military) the DNN also owns its spinoff organization the DTA or Draconis Transportation Authority.

Transportation

The Draconis Transportation Authority regulates and coordinates the use of sub-space they charge various service fees but does not provide public transportation that is handled by special charter companies who are given government contracts usually by the individual planetary governments but the central government sometimes hires them to help the military logistical and deployment department with its transportation woes. Without the DTA the use of sub-space is not only illegal but impossible since the jump nodes are locked off via by witholding the info needed to access them the military however gets unfettered sub-space use for free.

Social Benefits

The Draconis Empire has subsidized public services such as police and transportation these services are paid for in the form of subsidy taxes but otherwise is very affordable since the costs are evenly dispersed throughout the Empire via the taxpayers.

Society

Draconian society is harsh and cruel at times truthfully it is a dictatorship ruled by the Emperor and his puppet government however the current Emperor is on good terms with the people he took the Empire out of debt at the beginning of his reign saw to great scientific and technological advancements did much to improve the quality of life, strengthened the military, and made sweeping changes to btoh the government and military hell he even led them through a Demon invasion along with several inter galactic wars and rebuilt the Empire into the powerhouse it is now. Society is built off of the new caste system three castes the Judicator, Templar and Khalai castes are then broken into several classes such as Farmer, Templar, and Royal to name a few this places workers and Farmers toward the bottom rung and to ensure political and military support places the aforementioned groups toward the top.

Culture

Draconian culture is vibrant and active full of song and dance and celebration Draconian culture is typically male oriented however basic civil rights are given to all including women Draconian culture revolves around constant worship of religion one time the Empire was nearly shutdown completely for over two hours as many gave thanks and prayer Draconian song and dance are influenced by religion and tradition however it still has some saucy rhythme to it dances such as the Dance of Enticement and the Hymm of the Ages offsets the monaural and drone like chants such as the Hymm of the Faith and the Highfather's Resonance. Draconian Culture seems to assimilate the best of other cultures as well however religion and culture of conquered races and nations are allowed to continue as before so long as the people pledge allegiance to their new master the Draconian Emperor.

Religion

Religion stands at the center of all Draconian life a Solarian visitor once said that "If fate outlawed worship the Draconian spirit would quickly wither and die." He might have been right but free religion and worship is not only legal its encouraged though Yu Yevon stands as the official state religion other religions are practiced with equal fervor though sometimes love for religion in the Empire sometimes spills over into violent fanaticism.

Imports

The Empire as great as it is still requires imports from trade partners imports are checked by the ISA or Internal Security Agency and include Nebula Gases, Titanium, Energy, DNA, Water, and Robotics.

Exports

The Empire exports a great deal of items like imports all items are checked by the ISA and the export list includes Food, Nitrogen, Military Weapons and Equipment, Medical Supplies, Nano Technology, and Phranxite.

Economy

The Draconis Economy is very stable and the Empire has enjoyed over 8,000 years of financial success the Economy is based off the Inter Galactic Gross Product and the backing up of Dracos by precious metals and minerals including diamonds, Gold, Platinum, Ralxite, Baj jewels, and Khydarian crystals. The Economy is offset by tax money as this money is simply recycled from source to source and doesn't bring nothing new to the table like trade growth and also by the expenses a Star Nation will naturally incur including the maintainence of its military and running of its government.
