Okay!
So first you need to go here
UO Client DownloadThat will give you Razor (what you use to play on), the UO Auto-map, and Ventrillo (I never use it since I dont have a mic. and I never go on epic adventures with my guild. haha)
Once you have it downloaded and installed, you always use Razor to open the game and you should always open the UO Auto map or you'll be lost. haha

UO WikiThis'll also help you out with learning more about the game, its creatures, skills etc. And when you go to make your character, make their homeplace Britainia, its usually everyones starting place since its the most busy town.
I started out mining(ore), it raised my strength, and made me gold. Then I started blacksmithy, making armor, using different colored ingots to make armor. Im not a Grandmaster Blacksmith yet. but Im close enough, it takes a loooong time. But i can repare armor and make new armor mostly all exceptional.
I got bored of just being a smith so I started fencing. I had to learn parrying, and tactics for that.
I also had to raise my Dexterity so I could strike faster. So I just macroed that for a while snooping into my buddies bag. Using snoop to raise your dex will destroy your karma, but you can just as easily get it back by fighting creatures and bad guys. or else you can macro musicianship and that will raise your dex too.
smile Learning Magic Resist is what I also did, since Im not a mage. Helps when fighting magical creatures. Sometimes their spells can take a huge hunk out of your health, paralyze you and kill you. Resulting in you never wanting to play UO ever again. hahaha jk! Also learning Healing is important if you're not a mage, it will also raise your intelligence.
smile It does take a while to get good at whatever you choose to be. And the possibilities are endless when it comes to your character. The UO world is also huge and theres loads to explore.
