This is a battle tutorial for the Trainer named Sukotto Hosenka.

If you haven't read the Battle and Example Battle threads, you should do so. They may seem confusing, but they will help you to understand battling.

A lone Pokemon Trainer named Mikkel stood inside of an empty arena. The Trainer had light brown hair and a pair of excited blue eyes. He wore fairly basic clothing, which he favored because it was very comfortable. Mikkel heard a high pitched creaking noise towards the entrance of the large building. After looking in the direction of the sound, he noticed a fledgling Pokemon Trainer enter the space. Without taking the time to properly introduce himself, he shouted, "Hey! I challenge you to a Pokemon match!" He then reached down to his belt, withdrew a shiny Pokeball, and lobbed it into the air towards the newcomer. As it began to fall towards the ground, the Pokeball opened, releasing a bright red light. After the light faded, a pink blob was revealed. The Trainer shouted once more, "Let us begin, go Dopple!" Mikkel had a confident look on his face, as if he expected to win the battle before it began. He was confident that his Ditto would be able to handle anything that came out of his new opponent's Pokeball.

Sukotto wandered aimlessly into a vast arena. The air in the building was strangely still for a few moments, so still that he didn't even acknowledge the echo of the creaking door that was loudly vibrating throughout the space. This was the kind of place where Trainers experienced intense battles. Even though the air wasn't moving, it still spoke to the Trainer. It clearly stated that there was a history to this place. Large crowds had caused the atmosphere of the building to grow old and weary with their cheering. It was a very peaceful experience. Unfortunately this peace wouldn't last for long, as an irritating voice broke the tranquility of the arena. "Challenge accepted." Sukotto reached towards the right side of his body for the Pokeball that was latched to his belt. He tossed it between himself and the Ditto that had appeared in front of him. It would be interesting to see how Doku would handle fighting a clone of himself.

Thankfully, it seemed as though Doku had a slight speed advantage over the Ditto. This meant that it would have the chance to strike before the shape-shifting Pokemon even had a chance to use its signature move. Knowing that Doku's Astonish technique wouldn't be able to affect the Ditto in its present state, Sukotto decided to open the battle with his Croagunk's less powerful move. "Doku, let's try to lower its accuracy right away with a Mud Slap." The frog Pokemon croaked in agreement and then scooped up a handful of dirt from the arena floor. It then took aim and launched the debris towards the Ditto in an attempt to hinder its eyesight. If completely successful, the attack would make the Ditto less effective offensively. In addition, the hurled dirt had a chance of slightly damaging the Pokemon. Sukotto hoped for both, but figured that his Croagunk would be able to handle itself well enough in this battle no matter what.

The youngster's eyes widened as a frog-like Pokemon appeared out of his opponents Pokeball. He hadn't ever seen this type of Pokemon before, so he wasn't quite sure what to expect. Just when he got over the shock of seeing a new Pokemon for the first time, the frog attempted to throw dirt in the eyes of Dopple. "Hey! You're fighting dirty!" Mikkel glared at the opposing trainer. "Dopple, let's show them how it's done! Use Transform!" The blob-like Pokemon quickly shifted its form into that of the frog. The newly formed Pokemon seemed to hold a bit of a grudge for having the dirt nearly flung into its eyes and it seemed as though it was ready to get some payback.

Finally, the battle would truly begin.... Sukotto stared down the clone of his Pokemon. Its features matched those of Doku's perfectly, even the various scars and imperfections that were unique to his Pokemon "I see that you've trained your DItto well. I would have to rely on my Pokemon's personality quirks in order to tell the two apart." Physically speaking, the two looked identical. It was a bit of a shock to Sukotto, in all honesty. Fighting another Croagunk was one thing, but fighting one that looked exactly like Doku was something completely different. "Doku, I refuse to believe that a mere clone will be able to match the skills of the original Pokemon. Use your Astonish and let us show them this fact." Doku croaked and then kicked off of the ground hard, quickly making his way towards the opponent's Ditto. Doku focused his mind on imagining the Ditto in its blob form being thrown into a pot and boiled. The Croagunk then lashed out with a fast wrist strike and attempted to project the imagery into the mind of his opponent, hoping to frighten the Ditto into making a mistake.

Due to Ditto's Evasion, the attack misses.

As the wrist strike flew towards Dopple, it managed to push off of the ground and get itself out of the way, causing the strike to miss. "Well done, Dopple," Mikkel cheered, "Let's follow that up with a Mud Slap! I think this one is going to really hurt them!" The frog-like Ditto swiped up a collection of dirt from the arena's floor, as the Croagunk had done earleir, and then attempted to fling it into the face of its opponent. The Ditto was still a bit sour from having had that sort of move used on it earlier, so it really tried to do as much damage as it could.

22(Damage Dealt)-2(Croagunk's Special Defense) = 20 Damage Dealt

The attack knocks Croagunk to the ground, severely weakening it. It manages to get back up, but it looks like it's having trouble even standing.

Croagunk is still standing.

Round ends.
