This is a battle tutorial for the Trainer named Cenron.

If you haven't read the Battle and Example Battle threads, you should do so. They may seem confusing, but they will help you to understand battling.

A lone Pokemon Trainer named Mikkel stood inside of an empty arena. The Trainer had light brown hair and a pair of excited blue eyes. He wore fairly basic clothing, which he favored because it was very comfortable. Mikkel heard a high pitched creaking noise towards the entrance of the large building. After looking in the direction of the sound, he noticed a fledgling Pokemon Trainer enter the space. Without taking the time to properly introduce himself, he shouted, "Hey! I challenge you to a Pokemon match!" He then reached down to his belt, withdrew a shiny Pokeball, and lobbed it into the air towards the newcomer. As it began to fall towards the ground, the Pokeball opened, releasing a bright red light. After the light faded, a pink blob was revealed. The Trainer shouted once more, "Let us begin, go Dopple!" Mikkel had a confident look on his face, as if he expected to win the battle before it began. He was confident that his Ditto would be able to handle anything that came out of his new opponent's Pokeball.

Cenron was so proud that he finaly has a pokemon of his own to train. but he couldnt stop at just one, he had to have more. While walking around town he noticed an empty arena and thought to himself. "This will be a good spot to test Doctore and see what he can do." Cenron entered only to come upon what seemed to be an overconfident trainer challenging anything that moved to a duel. Cenron thought to himself "this isnt what i had in mind but a test is a test". "Doctore let's teach This kid to choose his battles more wisely!"

Each Trainer must roll 2d20 in order to break the tie for their Trainer Dexterity and Pokemon's Speed. The first die will count as the Dexterity tie-breaker and the second die will count as the Pokemon's Speed tie-breaker.

The young challenger eyed up the Bellsprout that stood before him. He wondered how powerful this foe would be and was excited to experience it first hand. "Alright Dopple, let's see what sorts of moves this Bellsprout has. Use Transform!" The pink glob began to glow with a bright white light. As the light reached its peak brightness, the shape of the Ditto began to shift from an abstract blob into the thin and plantlike form of a Bellsprout. As the light faded, it became clear that the pink form had been replaced by the leafy figure of a Bellsprout. Mikkel grinned and looked into the eyes of his new opponent while shouting, "Let's see how you handle this!"

Transform – Normal
The user takes on the form of a pokemon they see, learning all of their abilities and gaining all of their knowledge.
Battle – None
Ranged None
Effect: No Target
The user assumes the form of any Pokemon it sees and learns all of that specific Pokemon’s Moves, gains its ability, copies its weight and height and knows everything the Pokemon knows for the encounter, or until the user chooses to revert to its original form, or the user uses Transform to change into something else. The user still knows the move Transform after they have transformed. The user’s Stats do not change.

Doctore's bonus: 1

total damage done: 8

Well done for the most part.

When you roll Vine Whip's Damage Check, you must also add one more stat to the damage dealt.

If the move is a Physical move, you add your Pokemon's Attack stat to the damage dealt. If the move is a special move, you add your Pokemon's Special Attack to the damage dealt.

Since Vine Whip says "Ranged Physical", it is a Physical move, so you would add Doctore's Attack Total Stat to the damage dealt. Doctore's Attack Total is 8, so the total damage done will be 16 Physical damage.

One more thing. I didn't mention this in our conversation, but when you roll that Bonus 1d4, you should specify that it is a STAB bonus. That is short for Same Type Attack Bonus. If you have any questions, let me know.

You should update your posts and add in that 8 extra damage that you will have dealt.

16(Vine Whip Damage) / 2(Ditto is now Grass type and resists Grass moves)= 8

8(Damage Dealt)-5(Ditto's Defense)= 3 Damage Dealt

The Vine whip seems to barely scratch Ditto.

Ditto is still standing.

The round ends. Trainers may now make their actions. Mikkel won the Tie-breaker, so he will use his action first.

Mikkel chooses to pass his Trainer Action.

Cenron may now use a Trainer Action. For a list of these, refer to the Trainer Actions thread in the Game system sub-forum.
