Are you a squib?
  Yup! And proud of it!
  I'd rather be all muggle.

There aren't many discussions about Squibs anywhere, but sometimes there are.
But JK Rowling has said that Squibs live a sort of sad half life and are exposed to and sometimes immersed in the wizarding world without being able to fully participate in it.

But my question is, why can't Squibs go to school to learn things that magic isn't needed for? Things like Herbology, Astronomy, Muggle Studies, Ancient Runes, Arithmancy and History of Magic. Some may say Divination and Care of Magical creatures can fit into this, since one aspect of diviniation is the ablity to BS and Mrs. Figg "does a roaring trade in cross-bred cats and Kneazles."

Actually, the only classes that really require magic (that readers know of so far) are Charms, Occulemcy, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Transfigurations, Potions and Flying Lessons.

If Squibs can learn some of the things that don't involve Magic, then they can work in and help out in the wizarding world more, not just like Filch and Figg, but perhaps doing Herbology breeding or something. Also, this can make them more of a link to the Muggle world since they can't do magic. They can fit in both communities. Especially if they study Muggle Studies. Then they could work in the Ministry and work in the muggle relations area.

I believe it's very likely that squibs would have wizard children because of their magical heritage. So it would be better for the parent squib to be immersed in the wizard world so that the child wouldn't be confused like a muggleborn when they find out they are wizards. And then the parent's would be able to teach them a little before hand.

Unless they have a school for squibs (which I kinda doubt)...

I think wizards are a little bit prejudice to squibs in that way.

Ron even says "I think Mom's got a second cousin who's an accountant, but we never talk about him." That kinda gives me the impression that the wizarding family doesn't care much about the squib part in their family (apparently he had a daughter named Mafalda who was also a squib, who was edited out of GoF). Obviously they don't talk to them much, but then again, they are second and third cousins... ... although my family is larger than the Weasley's and we are all close to our second cousins.

Does anyone else have any views on Squibs or wonder anything about them?

Speaking of Mafalda, she was supposed to attend Hogwarts, so that would mean that Squibs (under Dumbledore at least) could go to Hogwarts.
Oh wait, I just went to Jo's site and looked at the little section on Mafalda
it says she was a witch, well that solves the can squibs have wizarding children question, that would be a yes, since even though the Weasley's squib relative married a muggle he still had a witch. (You know what would be fun to try, wizarding punnet squares). Personally I think that Dumbledore would let a squib attend Hogwarts if they choose to because he seems not to hold the prejudice against them that the rest of the wizarding world does, but I doubt many would take him up on the offer because it would mean admitting they were a squib and they wouldn't be able to take a majority of the almost "core" classes, like transfiguration, potions, charms and so on.

But still, if they could have a different track for them, teaching them Herbology, Astronomy, History of Magic, Care of Magical Creatures, Muggle Studies, Arithmancy, and some basic Potions, in addition to some more Muggle classes like Chemistry, Home Ec, Muggle History, and Political Science, you could have a very good workforce in dealing with Muggles, especially as spies on the Muggle ministry and other government forces. I guess these classes would be like the Special Ed classes in Muggle high schools today. Those classes teach the students how to survive in the world by themselves.

But as Snape said, Potions is actually magic, and you need magical ability to do it. So I don't think Squibs could do it.

Oh, and I've tried wizard punnet squares. They don't work. At all. Perhaps the squib gene is carried only on the X chromosome, which would make it as rare as color blindness (ooh, yes this make sense...). Genes carried on only the X chromosome are most likely to occur in only a few men, and in very very few women. Perhaps it's a combination of the X chromosome and a few other genes that make it so wizards, muggles, and squibs can all exist in the ways they do...

Hmmm, I did a report on the genetics of Hemophilia so I get what you're saying with the X chromosome. That's really interesting, but then Mrs. Figg would be a very rare occurrence, but then again we haven't come across any other female squibs so it could be very possible. Oh, this makes me want to look into Tonks, I think it may've been a mutation in her case. I have a feeling JKR didn't think this hard about the whole thing... oh well it's fun.
