Riku walked into Kaine's office. He was a little angry that he couldn't see Simizu, but he was out and this matter couldn't wait. Kaine was the next best captain to discuss the ... project Riku was about to pursue. Riku couldn't feel Kaine's presence inside of the building at all, but he sure that he was in Seretei at the moment, so he would be back soon. Riku sat down on the couch, making sure for the hundredth time this hour that the leather bound journals were all in their special pouches underneath his dark jeans and murky gray shirt. Kaine would be in soon, and then he could begin.

"Why hello," Riku said before sitting on the couch and facing Kaine. "I was wondering if you knew. What exactly is a zanpaku-to?" He posed the simple question to being the conversation.

Riku smiled faintly, "Because I might have found something out about zanpaku-to. Now tell me," He said, attempting to keep the conversation going the way he wanted, "how specifically do you think zanpaku-to are bound to their wielders?"

Riku smirked before answering back, "Good, It looks like you can see where I'm going with this." He said as he stood up. "A zanpaku-to can exist on its own, like the living samurai and their katana. The ending on one does not mean the ending of the other." He rose from the couch to stand directly in front of Kaine's desk. "And the 'binding' of a zanpaku-to that has been 'cut' from a shinigami would be quite possible as well, would it not?" He said with his smile intact.

Riku's smile faded, and then he sighed. He produced one of the leather bound journals concealed under his shirt with his right hand and began reading. " 'The rogue shinigami, my old friend Hyro, has been dealt with. He had a strange power; I could still sense him and his zanpaku-to, powers I had grown accustomed to, but he had another power as well. He called to like any shinigami would there zanpaku-to, I cannot recall the name, but it revealed itself. I do not recall him ever having a power like this before, He was killed, as he could not be apprehended. He and his zanpaku-to were extinguished, but the other power, as I will call it, since I do not want to refer to it as another zanpaku-to, stayed. It gave off reitsu, weak as it was, it gave it off. Before I could decided to take it back, however, it was swallowed up by the hollow realm, and I could no longer sense it.' " Riku closed to journal with a distinct clap noise. "Now, does that seem to back up my point a bit more?" He questioned as he looked up and let the arm holding the book rest at his side.

(Alright, but it'll be a pretty weak one.) Riku frowned, "Can't you see the possibilities of this?" He replaced the journal and withdrew another, opening to a page while making no motion to his weapon, "Here," he said, finding the correct page, "It took no less than four captain class fighters to take down this rogue shinigami." He looked up again, "Just think of how much power that was, contained in just one man."

Riku rolled to the right to avoid the attack and concealed the journal with one fluid motion. He sighed, "Such a shame you disapprove." He said as he drew his sword in his proper left hand "Whisper. Suto-mu Fungeki." He said before the metal storm on needles tore apart Kaine's office in a sphere around him, and Kaine if he didn't get out of there quick enough.

Riku jumped back as his needles scattered. He called back to his opponent, "You should feel happy to hold those flames, but not as glad as I am to hold this." His shikai disintegrated, not like when it reforms to his bankai, it just fell apart into millions of little pieces, before a scarlet stained knife replaced it, only instead of pointing blade out, it dug into his palm. "Fīdo. Chimidoro ni kiba. (Feed. Bloody Fang.)" He said as the the blood staining his skin lept from him directly towards Kaine at a quick pace. If it touched him, he would be begin to bleed from that spot depending on how much touches him.
