The gym consists of a multi-functional court, that can be modified for basketball, tennis, volleyball, soccer, kickball, dodgeball, and wall ball. The two single doors are storage rooms holding the different court equipment. The double doors lead to the work out rooms, which contain just about every piece of equipment one can imagine.

Leo’s thoughts were still a mess when he entered the gym. He wasn't sure what he was going to do, but he knew that he couldn't just lie around in that tiny little room, and expect anything to change. He had left with the idea of benching some weights, and using that to make him tired enough for his mind to shut off.

But now that he was here, his eyes locked on to the court that made up the main part of the gym. Grinning, he spotted the hoop, and his mind was made up. He hadn't played basketball in a while, and it was the perfect all around sport, even if he was playing by himself. It only took him a few moments to source out the storage closet, and drag out a crate of basketballs. Some looked old, and some were brand new. He grabbed a fresh, bright orange one, and took off down the court.

He ran around a little, getting back into the movement and ball handling. It didn't take him long to fall back into pattern, and he headed back to the hoop. It was only a practice one, so it wouldn't be grounded properly, more than likely. He’d have to be careful, but he could still shoot.

He lined himself up at the free throw line, carefully went through the steps…

And missed.

He cursed, and chased after the ball on its rebound. He lined up again, and…

Missed.

On the third try, he made it in. Fourth was another miss, but fifth and sixth made it in. He started adding in movement as he got his muscles to remember their marks. He ran, spun, and dribbled around invisible players, making a mental game of it, adding pressure to his shots. Unknown to his conscious mind, he was grinning like an idiot, just loving the feeling of being free to run around.

His mother and father had thought sports were a waste of time. He was only allowed to play when there was nothing better for him to be doing, and only because it was a form of exercise. But this was one of the reasons he had moved out here. This was the humanity he wanted to connect to. No one to tell him he couldn't, no one to tell him his form was wrong, or that playing just for fun was pointless. It was the most amazing feeling in the world.

"How am I supposed to react to that?"He mumbled, standing near the entrance to the student cafe, staring at the ground as he contemplated where he was going to go. He'd thought about staying there to read, but for some reason he couldn't seem to get himself to focus his mind on the idea of just sitting there, reading, for who knew how long. It just seemed like a pain more than anything, especially since he had been rather thrown off by his roommates words before. He'd been trying to figure them out as he'd walked there, and now he was stuck with his thoughts on them. 'What does he even actually think of me? Not that I give much of a s**t, but still. He sits there and snaps at me and reacts the way you'd think someone might when around someone who acted the way I most obviously did when first meeting him, but then he goes and tells me not to worry about staying away from him, something I wasn't worried about at all, that I may be the only one to keep him aware and all that? What the ********? Then..there was the whole reminding him of home thing. What was that supposed to mean?'

'Is that maybe why I even actually tried to listen to my brother about taking it easy on him? Maybe for the same reason? That he reminds me of..that place? Why would I want to be reminded of the place that tore my brother apart..?'
He thought to himself, fighting with his own thoughts. He truly didn't know how to respond to any of it, how to react, mostly because he hadn't really been expecting the response the other had given him, more than anything. Sighing, he shook his head and looked up from the ground, before starting off down the hall. Where he was going, he wasn't sure, but it hardly even mattered. He held his book beneath his arm, a small brown paper bag in one hand, and a cup of coffee in the other, even though he'd not even spared the cup a second glance, and he'd not even taken a sip of it since he bought it. It wasn't sweetened, there was no cream added to it, he didn't care for either of them, but then again, he also didn't much care what his food usually tasted like. Sugar...sweets in general weren't his thing either. It was very rare he even cared for anything of the sort.

However he had been hungry at the time he'd stopped there and that was why he even got what he had. Now though, he found himself uninterested in the contents of the brown paper bag he carried with him. He glanced down at it with a blank expression, and sighed, before turning his gaze back away, only to find that he had no clue where he actually was anymore. Had he been that wrapped up in his thoughts?

『 ☬ Beware The Beast With A Frozen Soul, That Cradles The Burning Heart ☬ 』

"Where the hell am I now?" He muttered as he glanced around the area. The walkway was mostly deserted it seemed, as he tried to think of where he was in comparison to what he could remember of the map he'd left back in the room. However he hadn't bothered to remember certain parts of it yet, even though it probably would have been a good idea to do so. He just hadn't had the patience. However it didn't actually take long to figure out where he had ended up, as he'd spotted a set of doors a little further down from where he'd been, and upon approach them, he saw a plaque on the side of the door that told him he was by the gymnasium. He at least vaguely remembered the general area it was in on the map at least, but how had he managed to even make it that far?

He shook his head growled quietly at himself for being so distracted by trying to figure things out he honestly shouldn't have even cared about in the first place. Trying to figure out another persons reasons for talking about certain things was usually his brothers thing, not his own.

"Maybe I should just head back to the dorm after all. If he left the room then I won't have to deal with him until he decides to return. I guess though if he didn't leave then that would end up being just something annoying in general...." He said, his words drifting off near the end as he thought he heard some sort of sound coming from the room in front of him. He was pretty sure there would be no classes right then since it was the first day in the school for everyone, at least, he found it safe to assume so when the people in the office didn't tell him he had to be in a class at a certain time, and it didn't seem any students were rushing about to get to one. It also didn't seem anyone else was really even all that close by him either, and it was clear none of them really seemed interested in entering the gymnasium either.

However it was obvious that at least someone was in there...and despite his disinterest in interacting with anyone, he decided it probably couldn't hurt all that much to take a quick look. Carefully shifting the bag to the hand he held the coffee in, he moved to open the door just enough for him to get through, before he slipped through, and let it close behind him. He took a moment to scan the size of the gymnasium, and to take in it's appearance before actually looking to see who it was that was in there. He barely even caught a glance of the male as he moved towards one of the sides that held the bleachers, or whatever they were called in this case. Of course the slight glance was enough to make him wary as what he'd thought he'd seen was a flash of red hair that seemed a little too familiar, but he'd chosen to ignore it long enough to set his things down at least. However, when he turned to actually look, he realized that it seemed there really was no avoiding the other.

It was Leo....again. Only this time, seeing him didn't trigger any form of annoyance or hostility in him. Instead, it just grabbed his attention, and kept it. He wasn't sure if the other had even realized he'd walked in, since he'd been rather quiet in doing so, and even if he had realized it, he wasn't sure if he knew who it actually was. Of course he was ready to leave if he needed to but for the moment at least, he was alright with simply watching the other as he moved. He was more curious about how he handled himself in this sort of situation than anything else though, and needless to say, he felt he'd been correct in not allowing himself to jump to any conclusions about his strength back when Leo had brought up not being afraid to fight him. And then there was the fact that he was smiling...or...maybe more like grinning, as he moved...almost as though the simple act of being allowed to move in such a wide, open space, free from the hassles of those who would gladly get in his way was something amazing to him. Something new. Maybe they weren't wrong...and their thoughts about him possibly being from a place at least a little similar to their old "home" had been correct. It would be easier to know most likely if they could just remember where they had seen the symbol on all of his things before though.

(Out Of Cognition: EWWW BLEH POST BLEH I wrote it a bit oddly, it almost seems to have too much, feeling, in it, even though it really isn't supposed to? lol. I guess that's what happens when one argues with oneself in their own minds and such. He'll get a better hold of himself probably on the second day. XD Also he was talking really quietly at the end, but that doesn't mean Leo didn't hear him. XD Wouldn't be surprised if he heard the chains and such on him as well.)

Immersed in his mental game, Leo was oblivious to his surroundings. He had gone so far as to create faces for his opponents, based off of people he knew from home. The closest thing he had to friends, but the furthest thing from them in the outside world. The kind of people that would occasionally admit they wished you were still around if you’d died, before moving on as if the thought had never occurred. But it made his fantasy feel more real, besides the fact that they couldn’t actually steal the ball from him.

The thought had occurred to him that if any one saw him, he would look insane. But given his earlier show of mumbling to himself outside the office, he figured it would probably be the consensus before long. So he let it go, and simply enjoyed the freedom.

In his mind, the halftime buzzer had gone off, and he looked toward the benches to check on the “coach.” Which was the orderly who kept the gym under control. He was a monster of a man, tall and muscle bound, with the speed and intelligence to at least make you nervous of breaking the rules. Usually during halftime, he would have them stretch, and replenish fluids. Not that a game of basketball could really do any damage against the patients, but the doctors would have a fit if anything did actually happen to their prizes. But in a moment, he went from looking at the man’s gruff face, to seeing an actual living, breathing person.

His fantasy shattered around him, and he actually flinched. He had been so completely unaware that a person had snuck up on him. Was he really that tired? Or was the person that good? Even after looking, he still couldn’t answer the question, because he realized it was Aquios. He chased after the ball, grabbing it up before heading toward the male, fidgeting with the sphere in his hands. When he was a few feet away, he spun it upwards, letting it land on his fingertip, still spinning.

”Well, fancy meeting you here. I figured you’d be off yelling at your brother for trying to keep you on a short leash. I’d had the thought that we could be the demented roommates known across campus for cursing to themselves in the hallways.” he grinned, looking much more relaxed than before. He knew his eyes had changed, because he could feel the difference. The gold had been completely overtaken by a deep, sapphire blue. It clashed with his hair terribly, but there wasn’t anything he could really do about it.

"What..? Oh...yeah...Well I had to push him to the back of my mind so I could get some peace and quiet in my own mind for a bit, and even after I lowered the wall enough for him to be able to talk to me he didn't try anyways...so..."He said, surprise at the ease of which the other had approached him after their earlier fallout loosing his tongue for a moment there. When he realized he'd just spouted out that his brother wasn't there to talk to him at the moment, he blinked and shook his head a bit, closing his eyes. He tried getting it back on track but he was still just so tired, and it wasn't like it mattered anyways. It wasn't that big of a deal that he'd told him that anyways, not when he already knew about his twin and his situation.

He decided to just drop the hostility for now, it wasn't going to get them anywhere, and even if it did, it wouldn't get them anywhere good. Though he honestly didn't feel defensive to begin with so it wasn't all that difficult to push the idea away.

'Besides, I see no reason to mess up his mood. Not this time around anyways. Though I can't make any promises on what I might do at any other time.' He pushed the thoughts to the side as he opened his eyes and glanced around the room, taking it in. After a moment he turned his gaze to Leo, a slight grin of his own slipping onto his face as he took notice of the others once again, and he shrugged, throwing his hands up and to the sides a bit.

『 ☬ Beware The Beast With A Frozen Soul, That Cradles The Burning Heart ☬ 』

"Besides, it's not like it's too late for that to become a thing. I'm sure pretty soon people are going to be looking at me like I'm a lunatic who talks to himself in the halls any day now anyways, since I have a bit of trouble remembering to respond to him mentally often enough." He said, chuckling and letting his arms fall to his sides again. He wasn't trying to be sarcastic by any means, as he knew it would more than likely turn out that way anyways. At least that was the way it turned out everywhere else he'd been. Though then again it wasn't like he really cared what everyone else actually thought about him in the first place.

"Anyways, not sure I expected you to be one who enjoyed basketball, but you did seem to be enjoying yourself." He said, his gaze falling to the ball the other still held. He'd played before in the past, his brother having taught him back when they were in the facility during one of the few times they were allowed free time. He'd wanted to try and find something they could do together that might actually keep his focus off of his usual tendencies of violence and starting fights in general, while still allowing him to interact somewhat physically and socially with others, and though it was a risk, he still took it, and in the end it had worked out for the best. He'd managed to keep his focus on the actual game, and somehow even if someone slipped up and hit him or anything like that, he didn't really get angry or start a fight. He would get really into the game, and it was probably one of the few things he found fun.

Of course Pharos wasn't all too into it, but he loved seeing his brother have fun, and that was enough for him. After they left the facility however, when he got the chance to play, he seemed to enjoy it, and actually seemed to get more into the game. It could be argued that Pharos was actually more competitive than he was with the sport, but that didn't mean he couldn't just play to have fun.

"I mean, it seemed like you were basically in your own world over there, really into it, ya know?"

Leo wasn’t sure he wanted to ask any further questions about Aquios’ brother. He seemed to be the type that might flip if someone got too close or pried too much. So he simply nodded, making a small sound of acknowledgement that he had heard the male.

He laughed at the other’s lunatic comment. “Well, hopefully if everyone thoroughly believes we’re lunatics, we wont have to deal with too much stupidity, cause they’ll just stay away from us.” He let the ball down from his finger, and dribbled it a few times.

“It was my only real pastime back home. My parents were super strict, so I didn’t get much spare time. I had to choose one thing to really devote myself to, so that I could make the most of the little freedom I got. I chose basketball, because it takes a little bit of everything. And the people in my program made it a good challenge, so it took my mind off of the-“ he stopped for a minute, not really sure how to safely finish that sentence. He shrugged, “Off of everything but the game, I guess.”
‘That’s vague enough, I think. I hope, anyways. Until I get complete control of the facility, I can’t afford to let things slip. I gotta be more careful.’

“You play?” he asked, trying to nonchalantly move the conversation. He let the ball be still in his hands, just the pads of his fingertips rubbing against the leathery texture.

"That would be great, only I have the bad habit of seeking out trouble. Unavoidable in most cases. Unfortunate I know, well, for the people I end up targeting anyways. Of course there are the times I decide to behave myself at my brothers request. Not something I do all too often though." He said, chuckling a bit as he watched the other let the ball fall towards the ground. He lifted his gaze back up to him, then flicked it about the room again quickly, as though checking to see if there was anyone else around. Though he had entered the gymnasium knowing there wasn't anyone else but Leo there, that didn't mean someone hadn't managed to slip into the room unnoticed while they were talking. He didn't much care for people sneaking up on him.

'Wait, what? Program...What did he mean by that....' He snapped his gaze back over to the male, now listening rather closely to what he'd been saying. It was just a word, it could have meant any type of program, from something in a past school he might have been in, to something else his parents put him in to keep him busy while they were away or something, it could have been some kind of coping program, for some past trauma or whatever. It could have been anything, he knew, and if it hadn't been for everything else the other had said up until that moment, he probably would have ignored it, and just thought of it as something simple like that, however, in this case, he couldn't just do that. Especially so when he suddenly cut off before explaining what he was trying to distract himself from. 'It is a bit unusual I have to say, for you to be attempting to figure something like this out. Usually you have no interest in deeper meanings behind words. I do have to say, though, that you do have a point. Something about him....Is familiar. What are you thinking, brother?'

『 ☬ Beware The Beast With A Frozen Soul, That Cradles The Burning Heart ☬ 』

The voice was soft, quiet, almost tentative, as though Pharos was testing the waters, making sure Aquios was okay with him butting into the situation out of nowhere. Luckily, Aquios was rather calm at the moment, his response being a thoughtful hum as he kept his gaze on the redhead in front of him. His response after the cut off seemed to be more of a quickly thrown together excuse, but for most, that would work for them. Besides, most people would let it drop there, knowing there are some things people just didn't feel like talking about. He usually wouldn't, but in this case, he felt it was probably best to let his hurried cover up slide. For now anyways.

At the question of whether he played or not, he let his gaze fall to the ball again, for just a split second, before he brought it back up to meet Leo's eyes, which he now noticed were no longer the same light gold as they had been before. They were blue now. What that might mean he wasn't sure, but he guessed it might be safe to assume it had something to do with his seeming to be excited or perhaps happy at the moment. He couldn't really tell though...
'If I had to guess, I would have to say it more than likely is safe to assume that. I could, however, be wrong. I cannot exactly see him as clearly as I would like to at the moment, and even then, if I could, that would not necessarily mean I could tell you for sure.'

"Well, I have played before, and still can, but it's been quite a while since I've actually had a chance to do so. It's been a busy month for me and my brother. Haven't had much time to stop and actually do anything other than work and prep for our trip here." He shrugged, figuring there wasn't really an issue with his telling him that. There was nothing there that would give their past away or anything, and it wasn't like the information could be used as a threat against him or his brother, so, why not?

"The people I usually played with though, were human. Well...most of them were anyways after a certain point. It was rare that someone like you, me, or anyone else like us would join a game when it came down to a mostly human group of people."

Leo tilted his head. ”You played with humans? Aren’t they like super fragile, though? You must have had to hold back a lot.” The thought confused him. He had always been told never to play around with humans. That they were weak and slow, and would break if he so much as touched them the wrong way. ”I always played with people like us. Actually, besides my parents, I can’t say that I’ve ever met a real, regular human. And even my parents weren’t exactly human, so I don’t think they count.”

He decided to bounce the ball a few more times, his fingertips beginning to feel funny after rubbing the rough surface. The sound echoed in through the gym, and he nodded, more to himself than to the other.

”Wanna play some one on one? If you’ve been busy for the past month, and if today was half as hectic for you as it was for me, then it might be just what the quack ordered, you know?”

It might not be a good idea. He didn’t know how competitive the male was, how he would react. This could make sharing a room even more difficult. Not that he was expecting a walk through the park in the first place, but still.

’I don’t know why I want him to like me so badly. This has never happened. I didn’t even care if my parents liked me, and there were deadly consequences to that. So what is up with this guy? What makes him so special?’

For a moment, he stared at the male’s hands. He knew that his own hands had been immersed in blood more times than he cared to remember. He had torn people to shreds, killed brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers. He had nightmares about it sometimes, but mostly he just didn’t think about it. This male in front of him had power to rival his own. He could tell in the way he carried himself, in the way he’d spoke. So, how much blood sat on his hands? Were they equally murderous?

He shook the thought out of his mind, and shrugged. ”Up to you, though. I can go back to my mind games, if you’re not feeling up to it.” He put the grin back up, hoping it would cover the way his eyes had dulled, just slightly, with his darkening thoughts.

"I don't have to "try" and understand anything you or anyone else has to say."

"Yeah, Humans. There are a lot of them out there, in fact, they make up quite a large chunk of the world outside of...places like where all of us come from. They are everywhere outside of the realms people like us seclude ourselves in. As for whether they are fragile or not, the answer to that would be yes. They can be, most definitely. There are some out there though that are stronger than you might expect, but that is mostly in will of course, not so much physically. Compared to our kind anyways." He explained, unaware of the fact that he was basically throwing it out there that he was in fact a lot more observant than he seemed to be, and then there was the fact that he just barely caught himself before he had said something about his facility. However unlike Leo, the switch in his thought path had been nearly instant, and it had quite possibly been a little better concealed than the others. Though that didn't mean he was absolutely sure yet about what sort of place the other might have come from, it just seemed that was where his mind insisted he go with the information it had gathered.

'I'm not quite sure yet exactly what to think, but it seems like my mind wants me to believe he came from some place similar to where we did. Why the clues seem to point there, I'm not really sure. It could just be because I know what that sort of place is like...and honestly it might explain this feeling of "home" i get from him. I'm not sure I much like it. But...for once I plan on doing some research the moment i get the chance to...Do you think the library here or in town might have some information on old facilities or incidents?' He asked his brother, this time making sure the words were only in his thoughts, since he'd rather Leo not hear him. That probably wouldn't go over well with him, and honestly, he wasn't in the mood to share his and his brothers past with someone he just met. 'Honestly, I am not sure. I can say that I doubt it does. While the library, from what I have heard, may be massive, that does not mean it holds all forms of information in it. Perhaps minuscule amounts on ours based on the state it was discovered in after our escape, but anything else, like what actually went on there or anything like that, I highly, highly doubt it. The information about places like that is usually very well contained....'

『 ☬ Beware The Beast With A Frozen Soul, That Cradles The Burning Heart ☬ 』

He sighed quietly, running a hand through his hair, gaze flicking across the gymnasium as he heard Leo ask if he wanted to play the game with him. He realized he'd nearly forgotten he was having a conversation with him when he'd went to answer his brothers earlier question, and now he had to try and force his mind to refocus on what was going on. It wasn't entirely too difficult.'Nice going, I know you can space out sometimes but for you to almost completely forget you were having a conversation with a person who is standing right in front of you, well, that is definitely something.'

"Mm..well, I wouldn't mind playing I suppose, maybe it will help calm me down, like it used to. Well, calm me down in one way anyways." He said, turning back to Leo to find him staring at him. He tilted his head a bit, letting his hand fall back down to his side as he tried to figure out what exactly he was looking at. That's when he noticed the look in the others eyes, how they had dulled a bit, and he flicked his gaze down to see that the other was, he assumed, looking at his hands. He stood there, thinking, trying to figure out why he might be staring at them with that sort of look on his face, when it hit him, and he brought his gaze back up to Leo as quickly as he had dropped it. He remembered that look from before his brother and him shared a body, and he remembered it when Pharos used to look at their reflection in a mirror, as though remembering everything that had happened both during their time with the facility and after. He had been remembering their purpose in the facility, had remembered the bloodbath of them leaving the place, and all the times they were forced to shed blood while there. While it never really fazed him all that much, he had always wondered how it had impacted his twin. Though, that hardly mattered right then, as he watched Leo snap out of wherever his mind had gone, quickly throwing his grin back up as he said it was fine if he didn't want to play, that he could just go back to his mind games. He'd already said he wanted to play right? He wasn't going to just back down on it now.

He chuckled, grinning at Leo before holding up a hand to signal for him to give him a moment as he moved back to where he'd set his other things down. He had to remove the small thin chains he had connected to some of his piercings, and had to remove some from his clothing as well. He'd learned a long time ago that whether purposely or on accident, if one was pulled during a match, it would sting like a b***h. The actual piercings he felt no need to remove, though, so he left those alone, setting the other parts down in a somewhat neat pile next to the paper bag and cold coffee, before he started moving back towards the other.

"Now, I believe I already said, I'd play, I'm not going to back down now. Oh, and as for the thing about me playing basketball with humans? Well, when I play, I'm not really all that violent about it. I actually seem to be capable of adjusting how I play to suit the situation. It was always like that for me, even before I left my home, and found myself mostly surrounded by humans, who seemed to be the only ones willing to deal with me at the time. Surprisingly, others of my our kind either wanted nothing to do with me or any others like us, or just wanted nothing to do with the humans."
