Lady Moonshadow used a drop of healing craft to close the wound on her hoof. She didn't have much, she was not one of the rare ones to have the three gifts. No, only the Lady and two of her first circle had that. She was no healer. But there was the small amount of healing that came with basic craft. It was sufficient to close so small a wound. And the wound had been necessary. Very. The web she had awoken with her blood had shown her that she needed to rebuild her court. She used her horn to break the spidersilk strands and a bit of craft to return her ring to it's place on her horn. The jewel shone with her inner fire. It had not taken much of her reserves to call up the vision.
In honesty, she had not needed the web this time. It merely told her what she had suspected. If she was going to be here into the planting time, the land needed the Queen's Gift. If she were alone, then her power would fail, trying to feed a land so hungry by herself. No, she needed others around her, others who could handle the minutia so that she could attend the land. She had been helping it as she could, since she arrived, but Queens Gift was different. And the land was parched.
Vanishing the web she had destroyed, she called in the new webs she had made the night before, each with a chip of her birthright stone at the center. These were somewhat more complex then the illusory webs already in place. Those kept out all but the strongest of Black Widows. The webs weren't selective, but a strong enough Widow, with enough training, would have been able to spot them. She hadn't taken the extra steps necessary to keep them hidden. Steps she had practiced with The Lady.
Moonshadow moved between the illusion webs, replacing them, one at a time with the new ones. More complex because she had to separate. Unicorns only would see the path to the Isle she had chosen, and no others. Had she been a cat, like the Arcinians, or a dog like the Scelties, she would have had to further specify Blood only. However, there were no Landen unicorns. Her fore-mothers would have told her of such a thing.
She closed her eyes in pain. This land was empty. Not only hungry for the gifts only a Queen could bestow, but also empty of the spirits of her kind, no one had been sung to the shadows here, there were no demon dead. Never before, even on the day the old queen had died, had Moonshadow felt so lonely, or so missed Mistral. She called in the goblet with her usual brew of poisons that she had mixed the night before and sipped, hoping that soon she would have some company, that soon she would once more have a court.

Rune had finished purifying an animal's wound so it wouldn't become infected. How he'd end up on the edge of the beach closest to the island was beyond him, since he didn't always pay attention to his surroundings and how he gets to places. Glancing up, he looked across the ocean catching sparkles across a way. At first for him, it looked like the ocean was glistening in the sunlight... on closer inspection it seemed to signal a desire for his attention. Puzzled, Rune decided to inspect this part of the land and went forward to investigate the trees, frowning as he sensed something wasn't right.

Her head tilted as she heard someone approaching. No psychic scent, no feeling of cold rage. She felt no touch of the abyss. Had something come through her webs that was not a unicorn? Worried, she headed for the connection to the land, to watch the new fellow approaching.

Rune closed his eyes as he walked slowly around, taking in with his senses that the earth here was uneasy. His mother had spoken to him and his brother, sometimes, of how the earth spoke to her when it needed her. It was how wherever she resided, the land was in an eternal spring.
Granted, he didn't bear quite the same talents as his mother. She was brave. She was calm, beauty...His strongest talent was purity, something he received primarily from his mother.
Reserved, he knelt to the ground to scoop some of the soil up and examine what it was the soil was telling him....

Lady Moonshadow saw him. A unicorn certainly, but no hint of the Abyss, no psychic scent. Even a broken male had a scent. What was he. Well, one way to find out. "Lord," she called, her voice sharp and full of her natural authority, part of being born a Queen, "attend." Protocol.

The soil went still as Rune lifted his head to give the voice calling to him attention. He blinked and rose up but didn't move. He was unaware he was in the presence of royality and had no idea how to behave for such.
He responded in a gentle voice, one meant for lullabies to young. "Good morning, miss." If the soil went quiet...then this lad either has a way with the land or is the reason it is disturbed... He hoped it was the first thought.

Her brows rose slightly over her eyes. Miss? She had never been addressed as such. Miss. Who used such a term. It seemed almost... familiar, but she could not quite place it. "I am Lady Moonshadow, Queen of Scelt. You would be?" she asked, surveying him. Her opal jewel shone from it's ring around her horn, and the necklace that served as warning and wisdom about the witch who wore it was in plain sight. She waited for him to introduce himself and approach.

A gentle smile touched his mouth as he crossed over, took her hand, knelt and kissed it softly. He released it and stood back up.
"My name is Rune. No king, lord, no fancy title. Uh forgive me...I have no idea how to really behave in the presence of royalty."

"Royalty, Lord Rune?" she asked, a bit confused. He was almost acting like... but no...those were just stories. There were no Landen Unicorns. If he did not know protocol, it was simply her job, as the Queen, to teach him. But first, she had to understand him.

He too seemed puzzled but quickly recovered.
"Royalty...a word used to describe one is in a state of power." It was the best he could come up with.

She gave him an odd look, and tried to recall what the human blood had told her of their odd society. "Do you mean the Arisots? Or those who rule by the old ways?"

"I'm not sure what you mean by Arisots but yes... like those who rule by the old ways...."
That set him back a bit. "Old ways?"

"Well which is it?" she asked, "Those who honor the Blood and the old ways, or the Aristos that the Lady's mate disdains?"

"What is the Blood and the old ways and Aristos and the Lady?"
He was confused. the Blood sounded like a demon or vampire clan to him but rather then assume, he'd ask about it.
