I'll admit, I can be something of a gearhead at times. I drive a 2000 Dodge 2500 truck with a 2.5L Cummins engine, extended box, extended cab, oversize tires, and a missing muffler, which makes for a huge, loud, bright red truck. And I am damn proud of it.
I also have a soft spot for classic muscle cars -- '69 Dodge Chargers, particularly (General Lee... -sigh- heart ) -- as well as the old pickups.
I currently am saving up a bit of money for my restoration project -- a 1934 Plymouth. All it needs is body and interior work -- the engine still runs, and there were new brakes in the backseat. rofl

So, what about the rest of you? What do you drive, what do you wish you drove? Any other gearheads, or am I alone in that?

I like the Plymouth. I've always toyed with the idea of building a rat rod out of a kit but whenever I get close to having enough money and start really looking into it I run out of money. I am also a charger fan, I would also like to have either a 67-70 Chevelle or a 67 Impala.

I've never even looked into kit cars -- my dad and I are more into the hunt of finding an old car rotting away in a garage or junkyard, and piecing it together from there. Are the kits expensive?
Chevelles and Impalas are nice cars too -- someone around here drives an Impala around in the summer, it's pretty flashy looking.

I'm not what you'd call a car person. I know next to nothing about them, and it makes me feel quite awkward when I'm around other techies that know their cars as well as their computers. I'm not even a fan of the fancier cars that some people drool over (like the mustang, etc..)

But when I get around to getting my license and have enough to get a car of my own, I'm gonna get a Ford Escape. I have such simple tastes. smile

Depends what you call expensive. You can build an AC Cobra for 30 grand. You can build yourself a rat rod for less than 10. It really depends what you're looking for.

my dream car is a 66 mustang.

i know how to change a tire, change my oil (which no one does at home anymore, but i know how if i had to), and change a fuse. that is my extent of car knowledge. oh yeah...and wiper blades. i can change those.

i would have no idea how to build a car...except out of legos. im good with legos.

'66 is a good year for Mustangs. I can't stand the 'retro' ones, myself, so I go around saying I hate Mustangs, but I do have a love for the older models. They were much sexier cars back in those days. heart

As for knowing how to change tires and such... be proud, that's a dying art. At least around here. My cousin blew up three cars in a row because he never thought to check the radiator fluid or oil, and apparently having flashy red idiot lights all over the dash meant that the car was happy or something. talk2hand I almost cried for those poor cars when I found out.
The only reason I'm any good at the more advanced work is because I come from a long line of mechanics and farmers on my dad's side, and a long line of car-illiterates on my mom's side. So I learned to work on cars from my dad and practiced by working on mom's family's cars. xD

Hey, I'm jealous! The most advanced thing I built out of legos was a stable. From a kit. With instructions. xD
