Many years have gone by since Kenshin's adventures during the Meiji era. Sadly, our famous hero had finally passed away from the deterioration of his body due to the use of the Hiten Mitsurugi style of swordsmanship. Kaoru still lives on and remains as an instructor in her dojo, the Kamiya Kasshin style of swordsmanship. Her son Kenji, now fully grown, followed in his father's footsteps and had learned most of the Hiten Mitsurugi style of swordsmanship. He had been offered a position in the Imperial army but he had refused. His mother needed him more. Kenji thought that he was the only person in all of Japan that knew his father's techniques. He was wrong.
With the Meiji Era passed, war broke out again between the Imperial Army and the Shisengumi. This war was known as New Bakumatsu. There are two differences this time around. Weaponry was much more advanced, meaning the availability of guns wasn't so scarce or illegitimate anymore. Also, one mysterious samurai/hitokiri in the Imperial Army made a name of herself. Thats right, this samurai was a female and was nicknamed Hitokiri Battosai the II. Two reasons why for the name. One, she used the same Hiten Mitsurugi style like the previous Battosai and she killed just as many. However, she despises the name she was given. Battosai had already been used once. It should not be used again.
The goals of Kenji and Battosai the II are both similar and different. Both of them desire to become perfect in the Hiten Mitsurugi style of swordsmanship. Kenji's personal goal is to find out who had been using his father's hitokiri name. Battosai the II desires to become a better hitokiri than the original Battosai and gain a new name for herself. Something that will never be forgotten, just like Battosai's name was not forgotten.
Will Kenji be able to find the mysterious Battosai the II even if he has to join either army to do so? Will Battosai the II be able to become greater than the original Battosai? And if these two powerful warriors meet, will they fight or become friends?
