Which is the best?...this is the big question. Studio Ghibli or the original animated Disney movies?
Personally being a sucker for all things Japanese I prefer Ghibli films...there is less bursting in song for no apparent reson. Plus the art is breath taking and the music even more so - Joe Hisashi is one of my favorite composers *awkward if I just spelt his name wrong....* The sound track for Monoke Hime and Nausica are my favorite....
But Disney has swayed me with it's latest offering - Tangled....I love the relationship between 'Flyn' and Maximus...I want a horse like Maximus....and the older movies like The Lion King, Snow White and Aladin have a special place in my heart as the movies I could qoute by the age of 7.....
VOTE AWAY!!!

Ooh... that's hard D: I'm gonna have to go with Disney because i've known it longer than Studio Ghibli and it has many classics. Though I do love Studio Ghibli a lot! whee

Yuna's going for Studio Ghibli,
No questions asked!
People can technically say I grew up with them
If I have to choose between Disney and Studio Ghibli
Studio Ghibli all the way!

I have barely heard of Ghibli, so I say DISNEY ALL THE WAY! I grew up with his movies, so they've grown on me. You can't beat the pure awesomeness of Mickey Mouse!

The problem with Disney is they care more about money than the movie they are making and more often then not the plot of the movie is un-original or stolen *cough* Lion King *cough* and then once they do have a success, they immediately capitalize on it in every way possible which include Direct-To-Video sequels that completely ruin the characters we fell in love with in the original movie. Remember that awesome movie Peter Pan? Remember the silent Tinker Bell who could only feel one emotion at a time because she was so small? . . . . . Yeah, the "sequels" turned her into a sappy "Disney Princess". Remember Lady Tremain from Cinderella? I always considered her one of the most evil Disney Villains because she was not born to be evil nor was she created from evil, she was human! Utterly and completely 100% human with no external influences guiding her evil decisions. She was cool, calm, and just enjoyed making one girl's life hell. Well, Cinderella 3 is all I can say. . . .
Sorry! I ranted off topic! Now, the point is Disney cares more about making money than producing good movies. Now-a-days, they just slap some crap together with a computer, make it 3-D, and hope for the best. Ya they are entertaining to watch, but I doubt anything made in the past five years has left as much of an impact on you as their "Renaissance" movies like Little Mermaid and Lion King.
Now Studio Ghibli on the other hand is THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE! Notice how they only turn out one movie every couple years or so and all their movies are hand drawn! Miyazaki, seems like a true artist, taking his time and producing something to be proud of! His movies have even been pushing Disney off it's Academy Award pedestal! The movies like Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away are so beautifully drawn with engaging characters and plots! Spirited away may not have much action in it or even a "villain" but I bet those of you who watched it were on the edge of your seats waiting to see "what happens next"!
Right now I see Ghibli filling the role that Don Bluth once held against Disney back when he made The Land Before Time and The Secret of NIHM. I just hope Ghibli doesn't make the same downward spiral he did emo

inky6 I've never heard of Ghibli so I'd have to say Disney. How can people say they never heard of Ghibli! Surely you at least heard of their more famous movies!? Some of them won Academy Awards!!! Princess Mononoke? Spirited Away? (This one was even distributed by Disney!) Howel's Moving Castle?!?! (also distributed by Disney) Ponyo? (distributed by Disney) Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind? (Distr. Disney) Castle in the Sky? Kiki's Delivery Service? (Distributed by Buena Vista Pictures, AKA Disney) The Cat Returns? Pom Poko? Porco Rosso? Tales of Earthsea? Ten bucks says Disney will also distribute The Borrower Arietty when it comes out! Even Disney knows when someones' animation was better and cashed in on it ASAP! before Ghibili released it on it's own and cost them sales like Bluth did, Dreamworks does, and Pixar used to do.

I can't choose one ove the other.
Ghibli have done some fantastic films, and at their best they give Disney's best a run for their money.
Disney tend to churn out films, and some are amazing, but their business practices leave a lot to be desired (use a copyright expired story, and then copyright the result). But on the other hand, without Disney, we'd never have the "big eyes" anime style.
Its swings and roundabouts. We need them both.
