Background: Born from the rape to a young brook naiad, Callisto was raised in one of Artemis's forest surrounding her mother's brook. She learned how to survive early in life, scavenging, hunting and scouting the forest and using those skills to better protect herself and her mother.
One night, she was about 13 years old, Callisto left to hunt for her mother's and her dinner. When she came back to celebrate her successful hunt though, she found her mother's dying body laying upon the side of her brook. Going to her mother, Callisto learned that men from the nearby village had come in search of the beautiful young naiad they had heard about and killed her mother when she fought against them.
Losing her only family, Callisto went to the only other one she respected, asking the goddess Artemis to allow her the chance to protect those in need and hunt down those who would wish harm upon women or the forest.
