It feels weird to be the first one replying, but I need help!!! (please...) sweatdrop I need some help on drawing characters in profile. Not the faces, I can do that pretty well, it's the body. It's mostly about where the arms and shoulders are in relation to the body. Whenever I draw a character in profile, it makes them look fat... gonk

Yes, well... I have problems drawing hands. I like to draw semi-realistic hands, but sometimes they look distorted or awkward and I'm like, 'Nuuuuu!!!' I also need help in drawing the body. I received advice that the body is measured by six heads of the person and I tried doing that and lol, I just need more practice. Any tips? rofl

ive already learned to a good level, but the 1 part that almost ALWAYS screws me up.....are the hands. the only way i can sort of get them to work is by making them really "smooth". this however gives them a very unnatural look which i f..king hate, i would like to learn how to do a more realistic look (when i say realistic i mean the way ALL hands do in animes and mangas), sooooo if u hav any tips, or sugested references or websites, plz tell me, thx!
PS. i think it´d be a good idea for you to teach how to do hair for ur next tutorial. good luck ;D

That may work if you're drawing a girl's hand, but i see that may be an issue for guys's. Remember that the finger has three joints, and be sure to size each finger accordingly. (pinky finger smallest, thumb thick and fat) I can't work too much with words >_< Draw me some hands and i'll see what I can do. Anyways,by the way,I suck at hands myself, only now am i really practicing. You can find hands anywhere, just get a magazine or better yet, your favorite manga.

Any tips? rofl Hmm,you wouldn't mind providing samples of your art,no? It'd help me a ton xD Well, six heads total is one thing. You must also know the proportions of all the individual body parts (the leg, arm, hip, foot, head,) Just some pointers: -The arm, when let hanging loose downwards, the wrist is where the groin area is. -The lower limbs of the arms and legs are longer than the upper limbs. - Be sure to define the curves in female characters by accentuating the curve in the hips and also the back. The arms also curve in to hint femininity -Be sure to express the ankle in the foot. Also, note that the inner ankle (the ankle that's sticking out inwards) is higher than the outer ankle. Also, unfortunately,i cannot assist you much with hands, because i suck with them too XP All you can really do is study the structure of the hand, and just draw from real life as well as manga. Hope this helps a little ^^.

Rirei Amor Would you know of any programs for drawing? I have photoshop but I wonder what else works I have trouble with finding downloads. I think Painter Sai is the best all around program for clean lineart and nice colors. It isn't as advanced as Photoshop, however, but it is still perfect for creating full pictures. That being said,it is much easier to use >_< GIMP is your next bet. I mainly only use this for special effects such as lighting effects and the certain filter options. GIMP is almost a direct clone of Photoshop, but there's one major difference. It's totally free. biggrin I prefer Sai over GIMP,because it is simpler and has slightly better coloring. However,it is still a very reliable program, confusing at first, but you can learn to use the special effects to your pleasure. Download it free and safe from their website here http://www.gimp.org/downloads/
