Sevg'ili peered over her shoulder, trying to see if anyone could see her. Through the silently falling snow, she didn't see anyone and her tail flicked with excitement. She ruffled her fur a little bit, trying to keep the warmth in as her paws grew damp from the snow she was standing in. She crouched, her rear end rising up and shifting to and fro, her tail coming straight up behind her.
Her ears perked forward and she pushed herself forward into a drift of snow. She grabbed at the fluff, flailing wilding through the snow, rolling over and over, kicking it up with her back paws and throwing the cold, whiteness every which way.
Laughing, her rolling came to a stop and she sat up, half choking on snow that went up her nose, snorting and giggling at her own antics that no one could see. She sighed, let out one last laugh and flopped down onto her side, letting the snow settle around and on her body.
She loved to play. ..Maybe she wasn't so good at it, but no one had to see, right?

A soft chuckle came from behind a bush near to where the young kip was playing, and then a red, horned head peeked out, smiling. "It sounds like you're enjoying yourself, little one," Ank'ti remarked, stepping slowly out from behind the bush and sitting down in the snow a few feet away from the pink and white kip. "Can't say I blame you -- snow is always worth the wait for winter." A playful gleam sparked in the red Kom'Giet's ice blue eyes.
"But isn't it dangerous for you to be out here on your own, little one?" Ank'ti asked, craning her neck and looking around for any other Kom'Giet in the area she might have missed. "Where are your parents?"

At the sound of laughter, Sevg'ili pushed herself straight up, heat rising furiously to her nose.
"Ahh, ahh, hi," she flustered, shifting her front paws to and fro, digging at the snow a little. She over-grinned tensely, unsure of who the large red 'giet was in front of her. No one she recalled from her family group, that was for sure. She giggled a little.
"It's really my first snow. Well um, that I can play in anyway." She puffed her chest up proudly. "Momma said I could go on my own today! I don't have to have Sissy or anybody with me." She smiled again, more relaxed this time around. The red female she sat near seemed to emanate a....calmness. Sevg'ili liked her. She seemed kind.
"I'm Sevg'ili," she said, standing up. She took a step forward, knelt forward and placed the bridge of her nose to the snow, in the proper respectful form for the elders that her parents taught her.
"Where are you from? I don't remember you."

Ank'ti rose to her feet at the kip's bow and lowered her own head in return, smiling still. "I can see why your mother trusts to let you out on your own, Sevg'ili...you are very well behaved." The older Kom'Giet sat back down on her haunches in the snow, her tail wrapping around her. "My own daughter Sedna could learn much from you...but she's quite shy, and doesn't like the snow, so she's stayed home today."
"My name is Ank'ti," she added, shaking her head a little to rid her horns of the snow gathering atop them. "And I love the snow." The red 'giet bent her forelegs and leaned down closer to Sevg'ili, a playful sparkle in her eyes. "Since this is your first snow," she half-whispered, conspiratorially, "I bet you haven't ever been sliding, have you, Sevg'ili?"

Sevg'ili grinned, pleased at the compliment. Her mother would be proud of her! She shook her head and neck to fluff up her fur again.
"Thank you!" she beamed. "You have a daughter?? She must be very nice to be your'n. But, who doesn't like snow?" She sat down and pawed at her nose. Snow was so fun! And fluffy! And....shiney! She honestly couldn't think why anyone wouldn't enjoy the white stuff.
"It's very nice to meet you Ank'ti. I'm glad you have sense to like the snow!" Sevg'ili giggled at the thought of a full grown Kom'Giet doing what she had been up to only moments ago. Her mother would never do something like that! Her mother was boring. She wondered at what kind of a parent Ank'ti must be...and how lucky Sedna was.
"....sliding...?" Sevg'ili tilted her head to one side. Thinking for a moment, she recalled some of the older 'giets talking about it, but couldn't recall any specifics. She shook her head. "No, I've never been sliding. Is it fun??" She stood up again, nearly bouncing on her toes, her tail whipping back and forth in excitement. She'd do anything for fun!!!

Ank'ti smiled and tilted her head. "Well, she's my adopted daughter, but yes, she's a sweetheart." The red Kom'Giet stood and flicked her tail. "But she's from the plains, down by the Great Sea, and isn't used to the cold."
"But anyway. She's home safe in our den, and won't be expecting me back until nightfall, so I have plenty of time to teach you about sliding." The elder kom'giet leaned her head down to Sevg'ili and raised an eyebrow. "That is, if you have time? Your parents aren't expecting you back soon?" A look of genuine concern crossed her face, sympathy for the worries of a parent. "I wouldn't want them to worry."

"You mean, it doesn't snow everywhere?" Sevg'ili scrunched her face up, trying to imagine a place without snow. It was impossible! "What...what kind of place doesn't have snow in the cold months?" And where, she wondered, was this thing called the Great Sea? It must be some strange 'giets that come from a place with no snow, that's for sure.
She shrugged to herself and jumped a little, side to side in excitement for the new game. "YAY! I love learning new games!!" she gushed. She nodded fervently at the older kom'giet's question. "Momma said I have to start coming home at dusk, so I'm there before dark. So that's plenty of time!" Sevg'ili's tail whipped around her body in excitement, stirring the snow through the air.
"Plus I'm sure Momma will be happy to know I made a new friend, whose old and all." She grinned again, and wiggled her butt in excitement. "Let's go let's go let's go! Let's go sliding!"

Ank'ti chuckled and shook her head. "No, some places are hot all year round...or at least the cold months aren't quite so cold as to have snow." She smiled down at the pink little kip. "Maybe you'll visit places like that someday."
Ank'ti looked up to check the sun's position in the sky. "Well then, it looks like we've got a couple more hours before either of us have to head home...plenty of time for some sliding," she grinned, her tail twitching playfully as she bent down onto her front legs, her haunches raised in the air. "Are you ready? First we need to find a nice big snowy hill with no rocks or trees around the bottom."

Sevg'ili looked towards the sky, watching the snow drift down for a moment. She shrugged. "Maybe I will someday. I'll ask Momma to take me sometime."
Grinning again, she circled the crouching Ank'ti and began pouncing down the path.
"Sliding, sliding!" she sang.
Suddenly she stopped, and turned to face the red 'giet. "But um...I don't know where we're going?" she admitted sheepishly. "The only hill I know of is the one by the big pond at the river? It goes right down to the water....so there aren't any rocks or trees, but there is water. I haven't been there since the cold though. Do you think it'd be okay?"
