For me, it's the entire package. Great gameplay, a storyline that's one of the most well crafted stories in the entire gaming industry, and the characters are great (Disney, Final Fantasy and original characters).
It's just a perfect mix of everything.
The story is probably the strongest reason that I love Kingdom Hearts so much though. It's just so intriguing and each game unravels the mystery, while at the same time adding to it. It's brilliant.

Kingdom Hearts is a beautiful story, along with its great art and graphics. I believe this is the first video game that ever made me cry. Especially the ending of the second one. I was like, "Gahhhhh! What?! It's over already?!" It's also pretty cool that SquareEnix incorporated both Final Fantasy and Disney characters into the story.

i saw a trailer for the first Kingdom hearts game and fell in love. the games are well done and the story is wonderful and well touching. i bought a ps2 to play kingdom hearts. since then i've found other games tied to the saga that i like as well, if i hadn't played kingdom hearts i may not have gotten into the final fantasy games or other RPGs. i even got my non-gamer sister to play KH and my mom!! it brought my family together.

The second game seemed to end much faster than the first, and just when it was getting good. D: Im glad that they started to go toward the KH specific characters after the first game. It makes all the difference I think. It allows the Disney and Final Fantasy characters to provide a different role than they usually are in. (sorry for the delay in activity, forgot my password. xP)

I managed to get my non-gamer step-sister to play Kingdom Hearts too. :3 Well, she played some other games like Mario Kart but that's about the extent of what she would play. She liked the characters and story of KH so she ended up playing it, though I had to do the hard battles for her. sweatdrop (sorry for the delay in activity, forgot my password. xP)

You should get her to play Re: Chain of Memories before Kingdom Hearts 2, that way she can understand it better. :3

There's hardly a recap at the start of KH2. That would be like not playing Kingdom Hearts because there's a "recap" of Kingdom Hearts in the opening of KH2. Sure, there's some clips during Sanctuary, but they don't explain anything at all. It's just random clips of things that you have no idea of why they're happening or what they mean... unless you've played KH and CoM that is. xP I guess it's up to her, but it's silly to me.

radicaledward124 i agree with you. she'll start KH2 and see that she needs to play CoM to get what's going on. At the very least she should read about the plot online if she really doesn't want to play it. I can see CoM's gameplay being a turn off to some, in fact I've seen people say they hated it. xP Or she could watch the cutscenes online, which would probably be easier.
