The Lower Ring plays home to the poor classes of Ba Sing Se's society and the majority of its population. These consist of newcomers to the city, including its multitude of refugees, and manual workers. The Lower Ring is also the most densely populated area of Ba Sing Se and has a very high crime rate. Buildings in the Lower Ring are generally small and the roofs here are brown-tiled, indicating the poor status of the owners.

"I can't believe I'm here !" she yelled out loud. It was already a busy day, Hui Ying was sure that no one would pay attention to her. Why would they ? She'd managed to buy some clothes and only travelled with a modest satchel. Modest was quite the word since it looked over-stitched and unexplainable brownish spots adorned it. Her staff was unrecognizable. It'd been carved and painted with all sorts of symbols, making it look more like an over-sized fancy marching cane than a reliable glider. She was currently in the market, trying her best to maintain a low profile. It wasn't that hard, there wasn't much difference between her and the locals. Why would there be ? The monks lived a simple life and that certainly didn't change after more than three years of exile in the forests. She thought that living away from the Eastern Air Temple was easy. In the end, it finished as an hermitage. No out-of-the-world discoveries from all the other nations, she flew over them though and rested in some places before getting to Ba Sing Se... Not after stranding between troubadours and artists to learn a few tricks. Hui Ying had all the time she needed to lead a less peaceful life. She wasn't so sure what was the status of Airbenders within the Earth Kingdom, it'd be best for her to keep that detail out of passer's eyes. She was left with finding the " Wandering Orchid", her father's restaurant. It was so hard to concentrate, so many shops ! She patted her bag, knowing well that there was only a few copper pieces left and a single silver one. Her stomach grumbled. "Sounds like I'm more hungry than I look." she thought of taking a run, the quicker she made it to her family's place, the faster she'd eat. "Get your pastries here ! Fine cakes, tea and sweets for your own delight !" Was she willing to wait ? Absolutely not. Her father would forgive her, she spent years not tasting his cooking, it could wait a little more. Minutes later, a fuming tart in her hand, her stomach swelled up just at the smell of fruits and cinnamon. Hui Ying headed to the side of a building, removing her bag and sitting down to enjoy her treat. Yum. "Sorry girl, I'm going to need this more than you do." Before she could do anything, a young man ran off with her satchel. What !? Who'd actually steal that worn out thing ? Seemed that some people were just too desperate. Grunting and stuffing her pastry in her mouth, she ran off after the guy while screaming (with her mouth full) "Hey ! Somebody stop that idiot with the girly bag!" She really wished she could just send a swift air whip at the thief, but that would've ruined her cover. Hmm. No reply. Discontinued, so don't bother anymore.

Haku glanced around his surroundings with a look of mild disgust. Tracking spies was not really his thing, but money was money, and information was information. He would have much rather been fighting out in the open, or hunting down a dangerous rouge. But neither of those opportunities had presented themselves to him. Spying had. So Haku had had not choice but to smile blandly, and accept the mission. However, now that he was actually getting a good look at the place he would be staying while he conducted this mission, Haku was starting to have second thoughts. Still, nothing he could do now, but proceed like usual. Checking that his water pouches were still strapped firmly at his sides, he set off down the dusty road at the leisurely pace, dark brown eyes cool and emotionless. Although he did not appear to be doing so, Haku was actually making a mental map of the lower ring, making note of hotels (or inns) and seedy-looking bars that had a guard standing outside to keep the unwanted out. The sun was beating down on his pale neck, and Haku's thick, long hair stuck to his skin. He needed to get out of the sun, and soon. It would soon be midday, the hottest time to be outside. And since the sun only weakened his powers, Haku knew that staying outside on an especially hot day could be dangerous for someone like himself.

run with the wind, jump into the air; let your sorrows fly and greet a new day. ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ₒ◊˺ʡ͒⁞‖ zнi, нυι уιηg ‖⁞ʢ͒˹◊ₒ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄AIRBENDER▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ (Sorry. Can't imagine how they could contact.) It was foolish to stand here. With the sun tapping hard on her, she knew she needed to move. It wasn't a problem, being able to bend air helped. Still, Hui Ying wondered why she even listened to him. "-Wait here ! I need you to get something for me !" ordered her brother. Weird receiving orders from a younger brother. At the age of 16, he was already taller than her. That huge stack of hay. She'd been waiting for three hours from morning. No mysterious package. **That's it. There's a limit and this is it.** she thought. Feeling like she always did when she was out for nothing, Hui Ying stormed out of her place. She headed straight back at the restaurant, knowing too well that her brother wouldn't get back home before late midnight. Sorry for his package, the guy just had to be there on time. Being in one of the shadiest, creepiest part of the Lower Ring definitely gave her chills. Even if the sun shone all mighty.

The bustling streets didn't seem to notice one more person moving through them at all. Yang recognized the streets of this place though, from his first escape from the city. He looked around seeing the merchant's pushing off their foods and jewelery made cheaply to anyone passing by. Yang couldn't figure how he'd find it in such an expansive city, he would have no choice but to explo-
His thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a small girl bumping into him and falling to the ground, "My apologi-" began Yang then seeing that bread had fallen from her dirtied shirt. Yang stood to look at the girl as she fearfully returned the gaze.
"YOU LITTLE THIEF!!" Yelled a burly bearded man surging through the crowd holding a club above his head.
It didn't take long for Yang to put the situation together. A thief, but one stealing the necessity to survive. Yang's decision was a hard one to make but in the end only his instincts could tell him as they did when the club wielding man reached the little girl and without question went to bring the club down on her little body.
Just as the little girl cringed guarding her bread as if it were a member of her very own family, everything seemed to stop except for one small sound. A tightening sound, as she looked back up she would see Yang gripping the man's wrist his tightening grasp only matched by the intense staredown between them.
"She has only taken food to live, and only a small bit of bread, there is no need to punish someone for something as simple as that" Said Yang onto the deadened crowd, watching eagerly.
"What do you know about it?" said the man Yanking his arm back, "No one steals from me, and no one GETS IN MY WAY!" yelled the merchant as he swung the club down now aimed for the head of Yang.
The club came down, the motion was smooth but it also became suddenly light in the arms of the merchant. As everyone stared on Yang re-sheathed one of his blades. The merchant stared on in horror at the boy that before he seemed to dwarf but now the intent between the two seemed drastically different.
"Leave here, and leave this girl alone" said Yang
The merchant had no choice but to acknowledge his defeat, "You will regret this someday, boy." he said as he stumbled away.
The crowd returned to their normal bustle, Yang turned to the girl and kneeled, he held out a hand to help her up. "Are you okay, little one?" he asked her, she slapped away his hand, grabbed her bread and ran off, Yang looked on in confusion, thinking he had done something good had only turned out to seemingly cast him in a negative light. Yang stood, feeling rather surprised at the moment, but he had no time, he had his own mission. He continued to walk through the lower ring focused on looking for this 'Jazmine Dragon' that he would hold his destiny.
