Ok, so I just finished watching the Half-Blood Prince movie. After Dumbledore died, I was sobbing for about ten minutes, and I'm still shaking. This happens every time I watch/ read the Half Blood Prince.

Is this a bad thing?

It just means your sensitive to deaths (even those of fictional characters), there's absolutely nothing wrong with that- especially considering it was Dumbledore, he was an awesome character and a father figure- someone to be looked up to. I would only think there was something wrong if you didn't feel pain or think twice about his death.

That's what I do! I also had the same effect with Dobby, especially in the movie, and Fred. We grow with the characters while reading the books. I find it totally normal.

You guys make me feel so much better, my family thinks I'm pathetic that I cry whenever I watch the move. Then I remind my mother of who was sobbing AT DISNEYLAND when she was reading the HBP the day it came out. I cry so many times in the series.

I had a dream the other day where Fred didn't die. Later that day, I literally collapsed because the fact that he actually is dead hit me like a rock. In my dream (at the Battle of Hogwarts), nobody had been with Fred when he "died". Then, all the Weasleys, Harry and Hermione entered the Great Hall and saw Fred's "body" and ran screaming toward it. Fred stood up and said "I was only joking" and wiped fake blood off his face.

Glad to help! And doesn't that sound like a thing JKR would do? I know that the whole mood in that book was dark and dangerous but I think I would have liked that ending better.

It really does sound like something she would do. Fred just can't be dead...it's horrible. sad

It probably would've taken a loooonnng time to get over Fred's death. if he ever did fully get over it. Some people say it was foreshadowing Fred's death when George lost his ear. He lost one of a set.
