The Story:
There is a forest in the mountains north of Taki, avoided by even the most courageous ninja. Many people who have entered have never been heard from again.
Hidden in these woods are the ruins of a temple village, Tsubasagakure, destroyed fifty years ago at the hand of those who feared their secrets, where it is rumored that the Mekagami clan of Taki truly came from. From the stones and defiled shrines call many unrested spirits. There is reported to be one survivor, a pale woman with long black hair whom people have spied at the edge of the trees, looking outward with amethyst eyes at the world beyond.
In addition to the ghosts of the monk-ninja there are rumored to be many unworldly creatures roaming in the woods, all eager to sup upon mortal flesh that is foolhardy enough to traverse there. Many peasants that live in the outlying area have reported missing livestock and mutilated dogs. No one travels at night.
Lately there has been a change in atmosphere surrounding the forest, the pale woman with long black hair has appeared to be beckoning outsiders that spy her inside, the farmers and villagers near the forest have been able to sleep at night, no missing people or animals have been reported.
Is the Shi no Mori now tame? To find out, the daimyo of the country has requested teams of ninja to go and investigate the ruins of Tsubasa.
But night is near, and the dead travel fast after the sun sets...
