Nicholas sat on the bench looking up at the night sky. The slums had a distinguishing scent a mix between feces and smoke, he was trying to think of a name for a smell like that when suddenly Two beeps came from his cell phone and he puled it out, reading the new message;

Weekly SOLDIER Report-
Fundings for the Shinra Electric Co. are growing dangerously low, 1bil. has been granted to the Scientific research department to fund the creation of New, highly advanced Soldiers with the use of Mako.

The boy crinkled his nose, He'd known all of these people, particularly well. He even found Matts phone in his bedroom after hed been confirmed K.I.A he kept reading the smal part of the unsent text message to nicholas on his phone 'She wasnt killed by Wutai, It w' sighed and griped the sword on his back, stretching out his arms, "It what...?" he asked himself silently. He stood up two kids came up looking at him puzzledly. He smiled at them and put his hand on one of their heads, walking back, to get to the elevator back up to his little room.

Misha was just waking up. Never being able to see the sun from under the plate was never a bother to her. Some people complained constantly about it, but she never cared for knowing the time. She stretched out of the decrepid bed and walked to the little shower at the run-down inn she had crashed at for the past few nights. The bathroom was the real horror show, but she hadn't cared. She turned on the faucet and slipped into the shower. She was waiting to hear from her latest client about her next mark in Shinra. Misha didn't care, she would take Shinra apart one piece at a time if she had to.

Her hand glided back to the faucet and turned it off. Misha stepped out and dried off, rubbing the towel through her hair and all over until the last drop was dried, and she was slipping her clothing back on. Aiko was waiting by the door for her, ever vigilant and silent. She patted him on the head, "Lets go Aiko, we've got heads to roll." She affirmed and walked through the door to leave.

On his way up to the elevator, Nicholas's phone rang "We need you in the missions department, its beens almost a week since you've accepted one, so the higher ups have assigned you this one." Nicholas's eyes had bags under their eyes, he was rather tired, he yawned into the phone, "Briefing?" he asked sullenly. "I cant discuss this now, not over the phone at least.", "Fine." he replyed. Nicholas shut his phone abruptly and looked ahead. At the same moment, the doors opened to his living section, he shut them and gave another soldier a menacing look as he attempted to get on with him. He pushed a button and the elevator began reeling its way up to the breifing room. He turned around and looked out of the glass elevator, a girl caught his eye and too, as she walked out to greet the Dark morning in the Slums. He could barely make out what looked like a grizzled dog, or a wolf of somesort. he looked away and saw the kids running and playing at the park, and the church. after about 15 seconds the elevator rang 'DONG' and he stepped out, proceeding to the room.

Misha peered through the waste and clutter of the slums, she was perched on a rusted silver pipe, Aiko laying at her feet. She began spinning the cross-blades through her fingers in spirals and finally thrust them into holsters at her sides. She let out a low sigh.. Moments passed as they waited in a small alley off the main pathways. After some time passed she was aware of someone heading her way.. Finally... she thought as the stranger crept toward them, and stopped shy of a few feet from them. The stranger was dressed from head to toe in filthy garb, with a hood wrapped around the entire face. Their identity a complete mystery.

Misha stood up but didn't close the gap between them. Aiko remained down but his ears were up, and alert. "It's about time you showed... I've waited three days now.." She spoke, slightly annoyed. "The timing wasn't... right" the stranger replied. "But today... however... is a new day, my dove." He spoke softly, almost incoherently. "Lets get this over with, who and where..?" Misha dejected.

"Relax my dove... the worm will come to you. Be ready." The stranger spoke, extended their arm, and dropped what looked like a small orb, only to disappear in a thick shroud of smoke. Aiko jumped up and Misha braced, but the stranger was gone, and the smoke cleared to nothing... "What a waste.." misha sighed..

As Nicholas reached the massive doorway he clicked the open button and flashed his DNA signature, making the doors swing open. He went into the back-room where all 1st class Soldiers were briefed on their important missions. "Nick, welcome." a familiar sounding voice said, happily. Nicholas gave a nod, and managed a half-hearted smile in return. He motioned with his hand for the man to go on. And so he did "Nicholas, we've had several deaths lately, more than we should in Shinra company, im sure you already know, that many of the deaths weren't put into the reports this week." A small look of surprise flashed on Nicholas's face, and quickly faded away with the news of deaths not being conveyed, that meant one of two things - Important deaths, or too many. Or perhaps both, now that he thought about it. "Not just SOLDIERs have died but many of our higher ranking members, whom don't even fight have been murdered, like the Directors son, Al." Nick didn't respond to anything just processing all the information in his head. "We've tracked the Assassin down, to somewhere in the Slums." to this, Nick did respond, "The Slums?" Nick was puzzled, 'The Slums of all places?'. "That is only natural my boy, but this is for the good of the people, and it will save lives. Of course we have no idea whom it could be, just try gathering information. And track them down, we know how good you are at this. That is all." The man, Hojo, slid some paperwork to him, and nick cast it aside. "When i get back." the boy said, and left. Too little information had been given at the breifing, this would take a while, he had a sure feeling in his gut that Hojo knew more.

After the whole strange incident with the client, Misha decided to take back to her roots. Her and Aiko needed something to wet their whistles. They began their way through the slums, from sector to sector, until reaching 7. They wound their way through the borough and toward the bar. The kids were out playing, and Misha felt bad, even though pity wasn't one of her stronger emotions. One day they won't have to play in the smog and filth. she promised herself and pushed through the large door to the main bar, and slid into a bar stool, Aiko by her side.

The Barkeep was a scruffy man, there was a cigarette burning in the ashtray behind the bar. Misha put on a small smile, and ordered a drink. "House whiskey, on the rocks, and a cup of water for my friend." The barkeep stood up and began working on their order, coughing and wheezing the whole time. Misha began a little relaxing but never stopped being vigilant. One hand forever rested on her hips, between each handle of her blade.

Nicholas hit the button desending the elevator, he found it a bit dull, since he was going right back to where he was. you couldnt see the Starts from the Slums. It was always dark and depressing. He stepped out of it eager to get away from the music that had just now started playing, it was the soundtrack from final fantasy 7, "God, its the same stuff every time i get on that." he told himself, he approached the bar and swung open the door, taking a seat, two spots away from Trina, you could clearly se his SOLDIER insignia, and sword on his back. He put a bleak smile on and motioned for the bar tender ordering some milk, "Hear any new lately?" he asked non-chalantly. The question was simply returned with scilence as a glass of white milk was placed in front of him.

As the man entered the bar, Aiko's ears perked up and he stood, and began whining slightly. Misha looked down at Aiko, then her eyes hovered over to the man sitting two bar stools down. His eyes were the first thing she noticed. Infused with Mako, clearly. The next sign was his obvious SOLDIER insignia. Aiko was getting restless, but Misha ignored him for once.

This has got to be the worm... Misha thought and lowered her eyes. She began to stir her drink. How rare of a find. Sitting in the bar beside me...The old stag was right... she thought and began thinking of her next move.. How to finish the job... What a shame, the first half-decent looking mark I've come across. Misha began planning her next move silently in her head..

Nicholas noted the girl staring at him, he drank his milk in two gulps and licked his lips. "You seem to be thinking alot." he said as he set the glass down on the table. "Is something the matter miss?" he asked puzzledly. He looked the girl over, she wasn't bad looking, he saw the wolf, it was obviously a bit worried about something. He let out a yawn, and stretched his body, being careful not to hurt himself on his weapon. Nick wiped a tear from his eye, it wasn't one of sadness, only one that said 'Hi, im sleepy.'. Her rather skimpy outfit stood out, he didn't normally see people with clothes like this in the slums. What more, were the rather nice swords protruding from her sides. Her hand was on the handle of her blade, but that had been there since hed gone in. 'Well, SOLDIERS arent the most, beloved people down here.' he thought reasoning with himself.

Mina shifted to the right when the SOLDIER spoke to her, and then stood. She remained seated and kept her body at ease, even though her mind was racing with thoughts. She took one hand off of her hip, and picked up her glass, taking a sip of the whiskey. She set the glass back down, and looked the SOLDIER in the eyes, her eyebrows arched slightly.

"Thinking... isn't the only thing I do, Soldier. And yes, there is a little matter at hand here.." She put on her most innocent look, but not in an over-theatrical way. "Maybe you can help...?" She asked. Aiko was quiet now, listening to the both of them, and standing beside her bar stool.

"Explain." Nick kept his wits about him. He put on a smile and scratched his head, like he didnt know what he was really doing. He shifted towards her and you could now see where it showed him as a Soldier 1st class, on his jacket. He leaned back and his sword touched the ground, causing him to stand up and check on it, the sword, being as big and long as it was, was surprisingly lightweight in his hands. He put his eyes back on the girl and then looked at the dog, he smiled at it, still listening to the girl, as he squatted down and held a peice of beef jerky out form his pocket, "You hungry boy?" he asked it. He always had a soft spot for animals, he didnt know why, they were just fascinating to him.

"My sister... is missing." She quickly fabricated. "She's been missing for a week now, and I've been searching all of the sectors." She explained, exasperated. "Aiko is the best searcher, but not even he has come across her scent." The wolf stood his ground, and put one paw onto the Soldiers lap, and waited before putting the other, climbing up towards the beef jerky. He was sniffing all around for it.

"You're a first class soldier.. maybe you could help me find her.." she finally asked him outright to help, "But.. then again, you're probably too busy to help us..." She sighed, and began to stand up, and prepare for her departure. One hand took her glass, finishing her whiskey, the other remained on her hip holster of the blade.
