Plot summary: "Kuromizu city is a modern Japanese town by the mountains separated into two parts by the Kuromizu River. However the movement of people from mountain villages to the city has caused a similar move in the youkai (or demon spirits) of the area who have travelled down from the mountains after their ancestral prey. Most like the faceless nopperabo that make up 75% of the population are harmless. Others are not. While many of the mountain youkai have swiftly adapted to life in the city there are some only wish to devour the population like they did before.

The more intelligent youkai have taken human partners in order to boost the numbers of their race and so have produced a new generation of part youkai, part human children who now must choose between the light of Humanity and the darkness of youkai."

Character type positions:

Youkai: Straight up demon. They can disguise themselves are relatively human but will always have some tell of their true form (i.e. a fox spirits love for Inari sushi and ramen or an Orochi’s love for sake) Bijuu are powerful true youkai as are Aeons and Eidolons.

Three quarter youkai: All Jinchuriki will be this. Possessing great demonic blood they will appear human but may completely transform if threatened or enraged. They will have a youkai parent matching their bijuu.

Half Youkai: A child with a youkai parent will normally appear human but inherit skills from their youkai parent (stronger at night then in the day) and at the age of 18 can choose to remain the way they are, give up all abilities or abandon humanity entirely to become a true youkai.

Quarter Youkai or Seers: Possessing relatively little demonic blood they do not have many youjutsu skills. They may be faster or stronger then regular humans with slight demonic deformities but cannot transform. Like others with a higher percentage of youkai blood they will be able to spot transformed youkai among regular humans. They are most likely to lead normal lives. Seers include Shrine Maidens and Exorcists.

Shinigami: Resident death gods. They will inform if someone has died before they were due to (I.e. was killed by a youkai). There is one in charge of each half of the city.

Half Shinigami: A child of a Shinigami and a human will possess a shinigami's eyes (with ability to see the remaining lifespan of a human) as well as being able to tell when someone has died. They tend to be medics or in rapid response teams. They can heal those who are not due to die or reap the souls of those trying to escape death. This is an incredibly rare bloodline.

Makuta: (To RP a Makuta character you need to be REALLY GOOD at playing villains.) Makuta's are vicious, almost indestructible evil clouds of black smoke that possess human bodies. They feed on human misery and will ALWAYS kill the family members of their target host body before possessing it. Sometimes they will kill the family of it's target by possessing them first, making sure it's host body knows it's hunting them until they plead to be possessed so no-one else has to die. The Makuta will then feed off their sorrows and search for a new host body. They are capable of physically causing bad luck. Sasuke is probably being targeted by one.

Youkai Chotei-sha: A very select group of usually half bloods or more this is an occupation rather then a species. The Choutei-sha or mediator is responsible for settling disputes between youkai clans and policing the area. There are many departments in this work from the actual diplomacy to forensics to the hunting and execution of killer youkai.


All Kekkai Genkai are allowed through Youkai blood. All Ninjutsu can be used but are forms of Youjutsu. Modern weapons like guns are allowed but will probably lose to the ol’ bullet deflecting sword thing.

Each Chapter will be assigned an “Enemy” to defeat to get the plot moving. This will normally be started with a suspicious death, followed by investigation followed by the actual killing of the youkai. Some side-stories are appreciated but shouldn’t interfere with the actual killing of youkai; it’s pretty much the only way to show how badass a character is.

Hmm, since Dad's a three-quarter, and Mama's only a quarter, I guess that makes us half. Would kinda explain that strange craving for ramen and sushi we get.

I'm not even going into the dreams. Anyone know a pale woman with long black hair and purple eyes? Been driving me up the wall to try and figure out who she is.

Bloodlines relate to ninjutsu strength as well as abilities. All of Akatsuki are 3/4 Youkai to equal their abilities.

Fully human is pretty much civilian, 1/4 Youkai is regular ninja strength, basic ninjutsu and so forth.

I would suggest 3/4 actually. I know the math isn't quite working there, but that makes the most sense.

I put Mira as a quarter youkai because her ability (while freaking awesome) is just firestarting, that's pretty much it. I'm really getting to where I don't want her fighting in the REGULAR Danshoku xD unless backed into a corner.
