Looks good and thorough, I'll have to read it later when I'm off work and have more time.
Just make sure we don't categorize all Christians in with the wacky majority of them.

It is nearly imposable to seprate reiligon from politics. You can't change the government. that's why we need to make a clean detachment of reiligon & politics. scream Soon you wont be able to tell the two apart. gonk

I'm soooo glad that I live in Central Europe, where fundamentalist Christians have no foothold whatsoever! -People coming to your door, trying to convert you by handing you crappy propaganda that reads like a very blunt parody? - Nope, except for some Jehova's Witnesses, and you only encounter them every other year or so. -Televangelists sending "prayer cloths"? No such thing. - A political lobby based on right-wing Christian fundamentalism? No such thing.
I guess that's because our Protestants were more influenced by Luther than by Calvin, and demanded a clear separation of Church and State on their own rather than trying to erect a Theocracy.

I fyou would mind me asking, how do the gov. feel about Wiccan's and witches over where you live? What rights do they have? I am thinking about leaving America.

Nice essay, well written. Though I don't think we need to worry too much about the Christian church taking over. They might be able to influence a few small towns in North Dakota, but they will never be able to make any major changes to the country. The First Amendment will always rule over them and the countless other religions, and growing number of Atheists will always be there to hold them back.

Or the constant fighting to keep "God" in the pledge? Isn't that First Amendment violations right there?

Ten bucks says the amendment never gets passed. And the fact that they have to fight to keep God in the pledge says more about how many people are against it than for it. When the pledge was first created almost everyone was Christian so no one cared, but now there are so many other religions and athiests they have the support to be like, hey, resepct for everyone. It will probably be a while before it actually gets taken out, but at least it's moving in the right direction.

wingedkitty When the pledge was first created almost everyone was Christian so no one cared,... actually, 'God' was added later on during the Cold War to seperate us from the evil godless communists. Edit: McCarthy?
