Here, all you see is white. People with good eyesight can tell the horizon and the falling snow apart. You must pass through this area to get from the mountains to the Safe Landing Area, or the Safe Landing Area to echo base ((unless you are military with rights to land in echo base and bypass this trek.)). It is a rough trek, with no food or water sources for days. Most people carrying standard canteens will find that they freeze within an hour, leading to sure dehydration before you even reach your destination. Bring a heated water container, and goggles. You will also want something to protect you from frequent blizzards, and of course, the Hypothermia that taunts you everywhere you go on this god forsaken planet. Navigating this area by sight is impossible, so you will need a good map and compass. Hopefully the kind that won't be ruined by being covered in a heck of a lot of snow.
