Chapter 8 {Necromancy}

The term Necromancy is defined as the art of communicating with the dead to predict the future, and includes the study and the act of raising the dead. The most prominent practitioners of Necromancy belong to the Mages Guild. Necromancers are capable of trapping the souls of the dead within black gems that they carry around their neck (normally on a necklace). Necromancers are very strong, yet solitary, and do not speak often. Their control of the idea causes them to release an unsettling aura, and others often find them to be disturbing. Anyone is capable of being a Necromancer, however this requires more practice than Conjuration itself, as you are defying the rules of the Realms by ripping souls from the AfterLife, conjuring them, and forcing them to serve under you. A Necromancer has the genuine ability to also control dead bodies, normally of humans, and do contain spells that enable them to rot the flesh of the living easier. Novice Necromancers will have a much harder time with all of these concepts, and will have to exceed little by little in order to successfully conjure a dead body. On another note, all of the powers included with necromancy drain the spellcaster's energy drastically, so in most cases, summoning dead bodies are more or less a last resort. Necromancy is considered the art of Corruption, and cheats Death, however does not appeal to Life.
