Chapter 6 {Destruction}

User Image

Destruction magic provides many means of inflicting damage on enemies. Destruction spells use elements and pure magic to damage health; an enemy's fatigue, weapons, and armor can also be reduced either permanently or temporarily. Weaknesses can even be inflicted on enemies, amplifying the effects of subsequent spells. The concept of Destruction is fairly simple to understand, however developing enough energy to actually create even the smallest of spells is extremely difficult and requires much devotion and practice. Mages with high experience in the Destruction tend to concentrate on solely one of the elements, however they are capable of casting others. Novices are required to learn all aspects of Destruction. Destruction is most definitely considered a power of balance, since it considers what it is you require Destruction for, though it is most commonly known to be a corrupt power. Destruction enables the Mage to make projectiles that wield certain elements (ex. firebolts, ice shards, waterballs, wind, etc.). It is one of the most difficult concepts to manage, yet it is required in all basic training for Novices.

Wind Spells

1. Ventus
Incantation: None
Description: Basic wind spell. Summons a concussive blast of wind to crash into foes.

2. Tempestas
Incantation: Placidus zephyr audio mei placitum. Stipo hi maleficus populi et finish them. Tempestas.
A high level wind spell that summons the west wind itself to do the caster’s bidding. Only usable by the Lord/Lady of Wind/Air. Even for the Elder it is a costly spell as it manipulates the whole of the west wind, overuse may result in draining of life force or even death.

3. Vefferion
Incantation: Sit venti caeli et corruas. Sit lamina argenti fuerit concutit, nulla manu tenere.
This spell is a work of legends, and only those adept in both illusion and destruction can use it. It involves the weaving of a very powerful illusion, specifically casted on the user itself. The illusion allows the target to see wind currents, pockets of air, and rising or falling turbulence. By using wind-style destruction techniqes, the user then manipulates the wind, weaving the various rising and falling wind currents into a blade that can cut through anything. The risk of this spell backfiring and causing permanent mental damage is high, so it is not a widely used spell.

Lightning Spells

1. Fulgur
Incantation: None
Description: Basic lightning spell. Summons a single ray of lightning to strike the foe.

2. Fulguravis
Incantation: None
Description: Complex lightning spell for the more experienced. Upon collecting enough energy, this spell summons a cloud of lightning bolts in the shape of birds. With a single thrust, the cloud propels at a fairly high speed towards the target. The voltage of this attack is fairly high, and can be considered lethal to those who cannot withstand it. Only Mages of a high rank, such as the Head Mage or a Guild Master, can possibly summon such an attack. Novices in the Destruction category may possibly be able to cast this spell.

Time Spells

1. Foro
Incantation: Universum decumbo dormio. Camena sempiterna saluto terminas. Foro.
Description: An extremely poweful spell only capable of being utilized by the Lord/Lady of Time. It literally solidifies a shard of time into a spear and strikes at the target. The effect of the spear causes no physical damage, but causes the target to rapidly whither into dust. Even the Lord/Lady has a difficult time controlling or using the spell and as such it is a last result.

Light Spells

1. Piaculum
Incantation: Illa, mei pennae, gravis c** dolor et aevium. Obtutus in caeli, go queaso unus proxuma volo. Piaculum.
A completely last resort spell of holy origin and thought to be a gift from the phoenix itself. It summons a beam of light from the heavens that strikes down the enemy and turns them to ash. The caster is essentially asking for a last strike upon their enemies with their own life as the price. It is possible for anyone to cast this spell, but because the cost for its casting is the caster’s life (no other life is allowed), it is very rarely used. In order to “seal the deal” the caster’s body is also turned into ash upon completion of the spell’s effects. The caster cannot be brought back in any way, not through a Potion of Life (their body is ashes) not through necromancy (once again, their body is ashes). There is no guarantee that the spell will hit, there is the possibility of blocking it with a powerful shield spell.
((A word from the Vice (TwiDawnLight): I cannot stress this enough people. Once you have performed this spell there is NO WAY to bring that character back. ZERO. ZILCH. NADA. ZIP. Any attempt to do so will result in failure and if I hear that character suddenly rose from the dead it is GODMOD (if you're considering something like their spirit coming back, reincarnation, etc. PM me). Also, only the caster’s life can be used. There is NO WAY to use anyone else’s life for this spell. We clear? Good. ))
