Why do people celebrate such a miserable cold time? (there, I asked a question.. or such)
I'm bad at these pagan holiday things. I acknowledge the season (and suffer through the cold) and take note of the changes in the world, but I have no clue what kind of ritual to do for it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YuleSome information on Yule. As per ritual, well do what you want. Everyone celebrates differently, there is no right or wrong with any holiday. I don't know what I'm going to do for Yule yet myself. For all it's my favorite season, this time of year is really hard on me, and it's hard to celebrate when I feel like crap. But I'll at least attempt something.

I like to think of Yule as a lose of one thing but a gain of another. Like you give up smoking, to gain better health.
like the holly king dies but the oak king takes over. one life is lost for the other to live.
think of it that way, it may help.

It was Litha for us Down Under, and unfortunately because the moon rises later for us in the summer...we missed the eclipse by about 15 minutes...but the moon still looked beautiful.
