When the Kyuubi was sealed away, he dispersed among the land, descendants; clans who would each carry some power of a specific element from 7 of the Kyuubi's 9 tails. This tale has been passed down from one generation of clan to the next, slowly fading from legend into myth...While some still believe in the tale, there are others who have come to believe that their gifts are of their own creation.
Following sometime after the original canine beast, the Kyuubi-Okami, there came to be three other mystical beasts: the Kitsune no Rokubi, the Nibi (unknown species), and the winged Inu no Ichibi. Each of these 3 held a a special power gifted to them, and used them to help shape the new world in preparation for the coming generations...
The Gaias (Earth Elementalists)
The Gaias are the clan of wolves who are usually scattered around large grassy plains, in canyons, or even sometimes beneath the earth's surface, or in caves. They inheritted the elemental power of earth from the Kyuubi, and as such are able to help meld the shape of the land by moving boulders, raising outcroppings, digging through thick stone, and many other abilities. Some rare members also have the ability to heal some of the land if it becomes dry and barren, thereby restoring some of the plant life to the world. The Gaias are liked by all and are often the 3rd party referees during conflicts between other clans who tend to not get along as well with one another. Always strong at heart and sound in mind, the Gaias are often the voice of reason and as such they don't typically have dispute amongst themselves. Their coats are generally very earthy colors: browns, greens, and more earthy reds like mahogany.
The Tide (Water Elementalists)
The wolves of the Tide are manipulators of water. They live along rivers, streams, lakes, and seas and oceans in order to always be close to their element. The more powerful members can bring rain with their howling, as well as raise the level of humidity in the air. Usually tranquil, the Tide Wolves love to relax by their streams, honing their abilities and purifying any dirty water. When you can see from the surface all the way to the bottom of a lake, you know that there are or were Tide Wolves there. While the Tide prefer to stay in a peaceful state of mind and body, typically avoiding combat, they hold a very stiff grudge against those of The Inferno clan, who enjoy partially evaporating bodies of water when they're practicing their high temperatured techniques. The Tide have a working partnership with those of The Frost, who use their wintery powers to create magnificant ice sculptures out of the shapes the Tide bend the water into. Tide wolves usually have blue, at least in some measure, in their coats. This can range from a dark to a lighter shade and all forms in between.
The Inferno (Fire Elementalists)
The Inferno are some of the eldest of the clans, and as such, are very powerful and very traditional in how they bring up their young. Normally very diciplined, though the young can sometimes get out of control when learning to control their powers and have a habit of setting things ablaze. This leads to many of the other clans having a very misunderstood view of The Inferno wolves. What they don't realize is that those of the Inferno try their best to control their element, one which simply cannot be controlled 100% unless by the original source of its power. The only clan who has little issue with Inferno, aside from Gaia who understands them, are the Storm Wolves, who have no real reason to dislike Inferno. The Inferno, as aptly named, have the power to manipulate and even create a combustion resulting in fire. The power varies in intensity with each member, but as a general rule they are are quite powerful. They are quick to anger and slow to forgive, especially when they're constantly being misunderstood. Inferno wolves make their homes on crags and near volcanos or any other typically uncomfortable area, because most of the other clans force them to keep away from the other areas. Inferno wolves' coats are always red or some related shade or hue: orange, dark yellow, and the shades and tints in-between.
The Gust (Wind Elementalists)
Gust wolves are very quick on their feet, more so than most, and deceptively strong. They congregate in a very large array of areas, more commonly in meadows or in high mountains much like those of The Frost. Gust wolves are among the clans who have a distaste for The Inferno, due to some of the young using the wind to cause wild fires that spread dangerously fast. These wolves hold many healing techniques at their disposal and are known as the healers as they specialize in it, while most other wolves merely dabble. Those of the Gust clan also are usually called upon as messengers for their fleet paws and ability to traverse many surfaces with speed. Wolves of the Gust clan have grey, white-ish, and pale tones of other colors, and in rare circumstances silver.
The Frost (Ice Elementalists)
Wolves of the chilling Frost clan live high in the mountains, where warmth and heat are no longer notions to them as their bodies learn very young to tolerate and adapt to the biting low temperatures at those altitudes. Frost wolves hold the ability to lower the air temperatures to chillingly low levels and even freeze a lake's surface solid with a touch and some concentration. Their homes generally consist of caves high in mountainous regions and similar areas. Frost, as with Tide, does not much care for the Inferno, having had their ice art melted by young pups and adolescents in training. Frost wolves are typically ice blue, light blue, pale white, and light grey in hue.
The Storm (Electricity Elementalists) Storm wolves change where they live quite frequently. Moving from place to place where the largest storm clouds gather so they can always have their lightning element at the ready. Highly advanced wolves of this breed have the ability to channel and store electric currents in their fur without harm to themselves or others, barring Tide wolves who are more susceptible to the lightning element. Despite this fact, Tide and Storm wolves work very well together; Tide being able to generate storm clouds for other Storm wolves to draw lightning from, as well as they can work in unision to perform devastating combination techniques, and when Gust is added in, they can create a watery, supercharged, tornado of imense destructive power. Storm is actually the sole clan who does not particularly like the Gaias, most notably for their ability to ward off the powerful lightning-based powers of the Storm.
The Luna (Moon Elementalists)
The rarely seen Luna wolves are very unique descendants; they have Lunar powers, or more commonly known as telepathic powers (powers of the mind such as mind reading). Luna wolves are very few in number, and remain hidden much of the time. Their mind powers develop usually around late adolescence and sometimes not until the wolf reaches adulthood. As soon as their gifts manifest, they are immediately taken into training by the elder wolves in order to learn how to properly use, and avoid mis-using, their newfound powers. The Luna typically do not take sides with one clan or another, and have little to no ill feelings toward any pack in particular, but rather only individuals who abuse their gifts. The Luna are sometimes thought of as supersticious, as they are usually known for telling odd and magnificent tales of ages past, but the truth is, it is they who carry on and tell the legend of the Kyuubi, for they are the seers and the prophets of the world. Most Luna wolves range in many colors (and all are dual-colored, usually one color and having a white underside), from tan, grey, and sometimes even black or lavender, but all Luna wolves have individually unique purple runes on their bodies once their gifts have become active. These runes range in the area they cover, from only an ankle, an eye, a full leg, or most of the wolf's body. The runes serve a dual-purpose: they make each and every Luna wolf very unique in their pattern, and they glow when the Luna wolf is using its powers.
