Got any questions about moats, groats, the world, or anything in it? Ask it here, and staff (or a knowledgeable regular) will answer it as soon as possible!

*Raises hand* I have a few questions biggrin

Are groats, like, evil? Or are they just... groats?

How intelligent are groats? If they're as intelligent as moats, do they realize that moats are self-aware? Do any individual groats (or packs) have a personal/cultural taboo against eating moats for that reason? (Like, how most people in western society would be disgusted/horrified at the prospect of eating a dog, but many people in eastern society would be okay with it?)

So, am I correct in assuming moats raise their young communally? Are they aware of whose kids are whose? Do they care?

Do groats raise their children singly (like, mom/dad only)? In pairs (mom and dad)? In groups (mom/dad and moms/dads)? Or does the whole pack hatch/teach the babies?

Is it possible for a moat and groat to be friends, or at least have a "I promise not to kill you" truce?

Sorry. I know that's a lot of questions >>

None of the pets in the shop are inherently evil (or good, for that matter) - while they all have very general species "guidelines" of sorts, it's completely possible for individuals to deviate from that standard, and of course, not all personalities will fit into a specific category!

Now, moats likely think groats are evil, because groats try to eat them.

Groats are just as intelligent as moats, but in different ways (again, for the most part; there will always be the possibility for anyone to make their characters deviate from this) - moats are more organizationally-inclined, which is why they have such a well-structured culture, because they are best at thinking like prey - where the best places to hide are, where the safest places to eat/bathe/sleep are, etc.; whereas groats are better at thinking like a hunter - where the most likely place to find moats is, how to lure out a moat, etc.

As a whole, most groats have no reason not to eat moats, but it's definitely possible for users to have groats who choose not to, or to form a pack where the entirety of their belief system is not eating moats/getting along with them. There can be as many packs of groats/herds of moats as people want there to be! And each would get its own belief system and such.

Again, it's possible to deviate from this, but the general system for moat baby-raising is doing so communally, yes - they'd know but not care whose kids are whose, since most everyone is equal in their society.

It would probably be the females raising the kids while the males hunt, but (as always) I'm including the "deviation is possible" clause!

And, as mentioned, it's certainly possible for moats and groats to get along. :3 They'd never breed, as they're different species which makes it kind of impossible (especially since one species has live birth and one doesn't!) but I'm quite sure that if the circumstances were right the moats and groats could get along~

Ask all the questions you want! <3 As long as it helps you get acquainted with the shop, we're always happy to answer, no matter how many. x3

I got a question about the whole "no contact with humans" thing.

So when someone owns a moat, does that person have a herd? Do owners interact with their moats/groats? Or is owning just something the shop does, and not factor into RP at all... lol

As far as I know and TTF can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the moats and groats exist in a world w/o humans. So no owners don't interact with their moats/ groats aside from putting them in a journal. Everyone owns their individual moat/groat(s)

Does that help?

Um... I'm not sure how to explain it other than the owner does not exist in the world where Oat Island exists. So the pets owned by a single person don't necessarily know one another in-character. There isn't, and can't be, any interaction between you, the owner, and any pets in the shop - because as far as official roleplay is concerned, you as a person don't exist and don't know about Oat Island.

OOC, of course, you can do whatever you like - but that sort of informal RP is strictly that: it's meant for fun, or for the lulz, but it can't have ever happened in the pet's actual RP history; so if you *snug* your moat, you cannot RP the moat being "snugged" by you because you don't actually exist in that place. >>

Does that make sense? It makes sense in my head but I'm not sure how to word it. |D
