I've really gotten out of the groove when it comes to my writing...and my Roleplaying for that matter. So I wanted a small place where I can type freely and build myself up before just jumping back into the fray. The works I'm posting/typing here are unedited, so if you find any typos or missing words...that's the reason why. I'm also...not really sure if I can post something like this here...but...uh..let me know and I'll delete this, K?

The first post that I'm going to set up is going to be a piece that I've already written. Its...more like for comparison purposes. The others however are going to be far recent post that I type on the spot. The characters I use...will alternate depending on how I'm feeling...or if I'm feeling a particular flow. And any information that needs to be known about the character will be posted in the form of a profile in the 'Character Enrollement' form. So..that's about it....I guess I'll start now....

ɴтoɴιo

The sun shone gloriously upon the its happy creatures as they traversed the concrete paths of the city. Men and women walked to and fro in the hopes of making appointments or to their next cheerful distraction. Children scampered between them like little kittens in play, their movements quick and darting. It was a normal scene to see considering the time of the day but something was odd. Something was decidedly strange. And this aura…this feeling…seemed to be coming from one of the citizens that merged seamlessly yet somehow apart from the crowd. The feeling itself was not obviously apparent. And not in anyway hostile. But…it didn’t quite fit in…it didn’t exactly mesh with the wholesome overtones that ran rampant in the others that made up the city’s populace.

It could be have been the man’s way of dress. A suit nicely tailored but with an old world flare that was much unlike the more modern and cutting edge style that men choose to drape themselves into this day and time. It could be the fact that he wore gloves, a strange thing in its self considering the fact that the weather was pleasantly warm yet cool. A temperature that was not exactly meant for things like gloves and scarves. The oddity could even be from the accessory that the man chose to carry. A long thin cane, the color of onyx and trimmed with gold, that he carelessly twirled between his fingers. Making it obvious that he had no real need for it. But it wasn’t any of those things.

Though they were in some way abnormal, these same things only made his person interesting to see. Something refreshing and new compared to those that constantly repeated what others did unknowingly and without a thought. No, it was something else. And more than likely it was the simple fact that his expression, his manner, didn’t fit his overall state of being. He was handsome true enough. His lips curving naturally into a teasing and playful smile. Eyes a honeyed brown that sat pleasantly within a smooth cocoa complexion. And hair a raven’s black that fluttered stylishly yet without clear control as it brushed a strong brow.

But there was a certain…watchful tint hidden behind the lazy haze of his golden gaze. An almost wary quality to the bare edges of his smile, not clearly noticeable to the human eye…but was like something that just barely hovered within the peripheries of your vision. There…but just not quite.

“E-Excuse me. Excuse me. Can you-”

Another being that did not mesh with the crowd, but for a whole different reason. Though the man saw the little girl quite clearly, it would seem that others were so engrossed with themselves that they didn’t truly perceive her presence. Or more to the fact that they saw her and in turned ignored her. The girl for her part
seemed vaguely upset as she clutched what seemed to be a thick book to her chest, though whether it was for the fact that she was ignored or for some deeper reason was unsure. Her grip tight and sure around the thick tome even in the midst of her polite pleas. But what truly stood her apart as well was the fact that even though she made the picture of one in peril or in need, her green eyes still showed a certain determination even through the traces of fear that sprinkled through her voice. Even as that hint of fear grew ever so slightly as the man started straight toward her….

“Midsummer‘s Nights Dream, right?” The man’s smooth voice came in a deep and friendly tone as though he were only talking about the weather and not starting a conversation with a little girl that he had just met.

“Uh. Wha-What?” The answer he received to his question was timid and wary but at the same time curious. Though she was trying to gain someone’s attention, she had not expected such a question out of the blue and as such she found herself interested in what he had to say, “I’m sorry. I don’t know what you mean…”

“The book, señorita. ” The man’s voice came again, colored with extra spice as he used the Spanish word and a almost warm tint of inner amusement, “It’s Midsummer’s Nights Dream, right? By Shakespeare? Though I may be wrong. I have to admit that I‘m not very well acquainted with the classics…”

“Oh. Oh, No! You’re right.” The girl said over excitedly as she finally caught on to the man’s meaning and grew slightly embarrassed that she did not pick up on it right away considering the fact that the title was a Shakespearean play that she knew so well and as a matter of fact was currently carrying the same volume in her hands at this moment, “Yes, you’re exactly right!”

“A tale of love triangles, secret meetings, and magic… ” The man said with a charming smile as he brought his cane in front of him and placed his hands upon the top of the stick, a dragon’s fierce head that formed a natural curve, as he leaned forward slightly to get a better view of the girl, “ I had read that book when I was little. A copy that had the same cover as the one within your hands. I thought that I recognized it.”

As the man mentioned the fact that he had read the book when he was ‘little’ the girl couldn’t help but let a small smile cross her lips. Not at the fact that he had been younger, for even she for her younger eleven years knew that she would have to grow up someday just had this man before her did. But the fact that he had been anything that could be considered ‘little’…was just funny. He seemed to be as tall as a skyscraper in comparison to her minimum four-something inches of height and considering the fact that he had lean form it made him look taller besides. She had a feeling that even when he was her age he still had been very tall. Looking at the book within her arms briefly the amused smile on her face turned wistful and happy as he hugged the book tighter, “ And a fairy King and Queen. And a magical flower. My mom had this book since she was in high school and she let me read it. I like this book a lot!”

The girl’s voice and smile had a care-free quality to it, the fear gone for the most part…as though just finding out that this stranger had something in common with her eased her mind. In response to that the man’s lips curved as well as he finally raised the question that he originally sought to ask, “ It is truly a good story. And a interesting read. But…why are you out here with it, pajarito? One would think that reading is best enjoyed inside where there quiet and less people bound to step on you by accident…?”

As the man asked his query a single brow rose almost teasingly, his lips still curved with its cheerful smile, and his stance fluid even as he waved his right hand to indicate those milling around them.

“Reading? I wasn’t planning on reading in the middle of the sidewalk…” The girl’s soft laughter bubbled from her throat as she thought of all the problems she would have trying to do such a thing before her face fell ever so slightly as she thought again of the reason she was there in the first place, “ Actually…I’m sort of lost…”

“ Lost?” The man’s voice came again in a questioning tone, his golden eyes shining with concern and…a hidden light of knowing. As though he knew or at least figured the girl’s situation and had just affirmed it to himself with her admission.

The girl didn’t seem to notice this or to be more exact she was seeped so deeply into her bout of melancholy that she didn’t notice as she nodded her head in response to the man‘s question, “ I…well…I wanted to get more books by Shakespeare because I really liked this one…and I remembered that there‘s a bookstore around here…but there was so many people around and…”

“You got confused in the crowd.” The man finished understandingly as he saw the route that the conversation was going. It was no surprise that she did get lost in the crowd considering the fact that most of the city’s people were wandering around its streets because of the great weather. Not to mention the fact that she chose to wander out during the time when most businessmen and women were commuting to their lunch spot of choice or at least to another engagement.

Straightening up from his half-bow for a second the man glanced around and considered the situation. Though that train of thought was only a formality considering the fact that he practically made up his mind when he had first caught sight of her in her, “Where is it?”

“Where?”

“The book store. Do you know where it is, pajarito?”

“Ah, I think its close to a coffee shop…the one with the pretty sign in front…decorated with drawn flowers and steaming cups of coffee and tea….”

He was not all together clear on the exact location of the book store…but he was pretty sure he knew of the coffee shop of where and which she spoke. A small and quaint shop, one of many around that block, that catered to those who wanted to slow their pace, to rest for a bit before jumping back into the harsh flow of the crowd. Its should be only a block or two from where they stood…

“Lets go then.”

“Go?” The girl repeated slightly confused at the strange connection of words. First he asks where the bookstore was and then he says to….

“You- you’ll take me?!?”

“Of course.” The man said with a smile, its natural curve showing a hint of amusement as he finally brought his full attention back to the girl, “ I can’t exactly leave a muchchita in trouble, can I?”

“I….thank you…” The girl said after a stunned moment, the words of gratitude soft and almost lost within the canopy of the concrete jungle, but no less sincere as she flashed the male in front of her a brilliant smile. Only giving the girl a smile in response the man started toward the direction of where he remembered the coffee shop to be, making sure to keep his pace slow enough for her to easily keep up with him and within his sight.

A room. Covered in the lovely tones of the late afternoon. Reds, honeyed yellows, and the muted tones of approaching purple. Slowly the setting sun painted the room with color, a blank canvas being filled. Now if only the same could be said for the piece of paper that sat in front of him. It stayed the pure white that it had been an hour before, the coming night doing nothing to change its empty state. Something that filled the artist with a burning frustration.

A pinch of dried leaves, preserved at the perfect temprature. A nice dry heat with enough moisture to keep the flavor strong. A small serving of crushed berry, the color a dark crimson that painted the fingers like oxygen laden blood. A measure of vanillia, a soft pleasure that tickled the tongue and senses. And finally a spot of bourbon, a fruity bite that burned yet soothed.

Done with the strange concoction Callysto closed the top of the dark copper pot and set it to boil at a intense 350 degrees, a sinister and crooked smile gracing her pleasant face. The mark of either a mad woman or a witch planning her next brew. Though if Callysto is involved...its probably a little bit of both.

"Ooooooh, mec~ This tea is gonna be good! I can feel it!"

'Don't you always say that?' A male's sleepy voice, silent in nature and only heard within the safe confines of her mind, came just at the end of her sentence. Before a soft coiling could be felt moving up her left leg and around her waist, a snake's head finally coming to rest upon her shoulder. Its mouth wide with a odd reptilian yawn, echoing its voice's sentiment.

"Non! This one is gonn' be perfect I'm telling you!"

'Tastes like piss and berries....' A female's voice came then, from just across the room and with the same amount of silence. But with a clearer and more awake timbre to it.

"....Quoi?"

'The last time you said that a tea was perfect, you said that it "Tastes like piss and berries", if I remember correctly...' The quotations were practically obvious in the sentence, and the amused quality to the crow's voice only added to the mocking tone.

".....Tais-toi ..." She clearly remembered that cup of tea, if it could be called that. The smell had been bitter and tangy in nature, its flavor reminiscent of waste and garbage. It had been a potion not even fit for the fire...rather one that warranted a ritual to relieve it of bad spirits before it was disposed of at the darkest edges of the kingdom.

"That was last time. This time its gonna be perfect....hopefully..."

|| Mad Hatter||

Wonderland forest is a dark and mysterious thing. Each and every corner of its domain holding hidden dangers and wonders for the unwary and the curious respectively. If anyone were smart they would leave the 'dangers' well and to its self, if anyone had any sense of perservation they wouldn't venture into its bowels unless they truly knew where they were going and where they were meant to be. And if anyone did have a sense of the two above reasons, they would have to have a true and important cause to be within the neighborhood of the castle...

"Hat, hat...." A tall and slender male murmured to himself as he tread the set path through Wonderland forest, his tread soft and almost soundless as his bare feet stepped carefully and unthinkingly over the fallen leaves, " Now where has that hat wandered off to? Didn't I tell it to stay well within my sight?"

The man was a sight to see to be sure. He was nicely dressed true enough, within a suit of onyx and cerulean, but the fabric was wrinkled and obviously well worn if the stray threads found here and there told the truth of it. His hair? A lengthy crimson laced with gold and his eyes a easy contrast with its turbulent shade of blue as the watchful orbs shifted through the shadows of the forest in the apparent hope of finding the "lost" head wear. His walk was lanky in nature but graceful, as though at any moment he would turn a trick. And his movements were restless, his hands fluttering here and there as it saught out a action to keep themselves well and truly occupied.

As though in sync with his hands silent wish the man brought one up to tap his thumb thoughtfully at his lips, the other hand coming to curl around the tip of his right elbow as he murmured again with a voice that seemed vaguely accented, the origin unknown, " Its been a while since its been missing, maybe too long in fact...did it get lost? Or kidnapped? Oh, dear....that's vaguely upsetting. And just past tea time too...horrible..."

Just as the man was about to go deeper into thoughts of 'ruined tea time' and the 'kidnappings of hats' a strange sort of green happened to catch his eye. A sort of green that was neither dark or light, one that didn't quite match the easy spring green of the tree's leaves. One that was exactly the same shade as...

"Ah! Ah-ha! There you are!"

....his hat. Dangling upon the limb of a near-by tree, for all the world looking as though it were waving at its owner as the the wind blew through the forest and caught inside its silken innards, was the hatters...hat. The place in which it were found would be strange enough considering the fact that one would think that if something was lost...it could have been found on the ground or at least stuck upon a low bush. But the simple fact became odder, or stranger as the case may be, when it was found that its branch mate...was a silver plated tea set tittering ever so carefully upon the branches arm.

"Naughty thing!" Marcello exclaimed reproachingly as he tugged the hat off the branch and looked over the head gear, his hands idly flicking off little bits of fungi that had broken off from the trees hard bark, "Wandering off when I wasn't looking. Shame!"

The hat for its part was silent, its piece of cloth unmoved at the man's reprimand. But as another wind took the forest its ribbons fluttered and its card quaked, the very act seeming as though it were clearly chastised, its manner fearful of the undesired anger from its master.

"Ah, its alright little darling. All is well, I was just worried" Marcello continued his one sided conversation easily as he finished his impromptu clean of the top hat and capped it reassuringly upon his head,"And I see that you've been waiting for me. You even remembered to set out a spot of tea! Lovely."

In a move that surprisingly didn't unseat the recently found hat, the hatter leaped easily toward a lower branch. His half gloved hands catching upon its thick mass as he swung once...then twice before latching his feet onto the rough surface and spun himself about so that he was sitting right-side-up upon the tree. Finished with his small task he crossed his legs and reached for the tea set just slightly above him and carefully set it on his lap, going about his business.

'A croissant, lavishly buttered. A cup of tea, filled almost to the brim. And sugar...sugar?'

"No spoon"

Realizing the small kink in his plan for a 'spot' of tea Marcello quickly patted his coat jacket in the hopes of finding the utensil.

'My pants? No. My sleeves? No. My shoes? Hmm, shoes....'

Thinking that that was a mystery for later Marcello shook his head and went back to the problem at hand. His hoped for spoon was no where to be found.

'Now where could it be?' The hatter contemplated as he scratched thoughtfully at his noggin and tried to think of a place he may not have checked. He was about to try checking his coat pocket again when he remembered...his hat!

Smiling at the sudden realization Marcello swiped the hat from his head and reached deeply and quickly into its recesses, the canopy of noise from such an action coexisting strangely with the fact that he was reaching inside a hat and not some crowded cupboard, and finally pulled out a spoon.

"Yes!" The delighted crow came as he successfully pulled out the utensil and capped the hat again upon his head, his hands already moving to put the required twenty spoons of sugar into the still warm brew. As he stirred the tea for a few moments and then placed the spoon within easy reach, the Hatter went about to enjoy his evening tea.

A small flicker of bliss coming upon his features as he mixed the sweet and slightly bitter taste of the herbal concoction with the buttery taste of the croissant, "Delightful."
