A poem I wrote after a particularly beautiful starry night on campus.
The stars above me,
They’re twinkling-
And I wonder..
Someone told me once-
If they twinkle,
It means they’re very far away.
So far away in fact,
That the light of these stars
Comes from dead stars,
Their light taking so long to reach us,
That by the time we see them,
They’re already dead and cold.
A sky of dead stars,
Shining their cold light upon me-
Who couldn’t help but feel sad?
A bit depressed to think-
They were alive once,
They shined their light,
But now,
They’re cold and quiet,
But we still see them.
And I wonder-
Will I dissolve into Starlight?
And shine my cold life upon others…
Far,
So very far away,
All I am is a memory of me?
