Zusa dashes from her den, later than she had wanted to be. Her best friend, Iksu, would be waiting for her down by the river. As she flew through the trees, the bark blurred into peanut brittle, the light snow under her paws felt like sugar. A brightly colored butterfly crossed her path- she swerved, but she did catch enough of a glimpse to see its transparent, gummy wings, and she smiles. Her heart is lighter as she picks up the sound of the river, just beyond a last patch of trees.

Iksu had been spending her morning down by the river, her favorite place. It was not a river like you would think of though. The river was flowing with chocolate, not water. Sure, there were water rivers in other parts, most other places actually, but she preferred the uniqueness of this particular river.
She had wandered around and had been nibbling on some of the gumdrop mushrooms, when a gummy butterfly had landed on her ear. Her ear twtiched and she decided to take part in chasing the butterfly around to entertain herself until her best friend, Zusa, came along.
She ran ahead after the butterfly, playfully nipping at its wings, with no real intention of harming it. She giggled and batted with her paws at it with a smile on her face, knowing that soon her and Zusa would be playing together.

She comes to a halt just at the treeline, and looks out at Iksu playing in the field. They were teens now, but Iksu was so sweet and playful, she still reminded Zusa of a pup, and it always made her smile. Hey eyes touched on Iksu's long graceful legs, the paws now not too big or clumsy for the rest of her like when they were little. When her tail swished it looked like silk. She was suddenly self-conscious, wondering if she could possibly be as lovely as Iksu was.
She stepped out of the trees after a moment, stepping through the sugary flowers softly, almost shyly, trying to hide her self-doubt, and flashed a smile toward her best friend.

Isku had a huge grin on her face. She saw Zusa coming towards her, and it felt like she had swallowed a bunch of butterflies and they were now floating around in her stomach. It always brought much joy to her to see Zusa.
Isku went running towards her best friend, big smile on her face, laughing and giggling beyond happy to see her, and probably on a slight sugar high. Isku warmly greeted her with a playful bow, and nuzzled her neck. How pretty her fur was! Such a beautiful shade of violet and it felt so soft and silky against her as she lingered in her nuzzle.

Iksu's smile made Zusa's heart leap, and her doubts lifted at once. Iksu was happy to see her- so it didn't matter how Zusa looked or if she was still a little puppy-clumsy, her best friend was here for her, and that was more than she could want.
The laugh was infectious, and Zusa giggles along with her for a moment, and then it tapers off, as a shiver running down her spine, caused by the nuzzle at her neck, and she licks her Iksu's cheek, passing it off without letting it show. The two girls were not QUITE as alone as they thought they were. Sweet Revenge was settled in the snow spying, a respectable distance away, downwind from the two. Her eyes focused on the porcelain colored little female.
She never spent more than a few hours away from her brother, but she loved to watch the girl in the meadow, moreso when she was alone, but it would do, even with the lilac wolf around.

Isku's butterflies came back again. Zusa had kissed her! Whether or not it was a serious kiss, or just a playful one, she could not tell, but to her it didn't matter....she had just received her first kiss. Isku blushed lightly and smiled turning away from Zusa slightly shyly.
As quickly as the feelings had showed themselves, they disappeared leaving Isku far behind. A new, strange scent filled the air, and suddenly she felt really uneasy. "Zusa....", she said with worry in her voice, "...something doesn't feel right." She moved closer to Zusa looking for comfort and safety.

Zusa barely has a chance to wonder about Iksu's reaction before she catches the scent as well. "Someone's there," she whispers, her ears tweaked in the direction the scent was coming from, trying to pick up sound. She nuzzles Iksu softly, and takes a step in that direction.
She wants to find out who was lurking in the quiet forest, and why.
Damnit! She'd sat here and spied often- well, maybe a LITTLE further away- and she'd never been scented. She hadn't noticed the wind change, but both the other girls had. Her mind raced- stay here and meet the girls face to face, or flee? Fleeing was no good, really. She wasn't a coward, and she didn't want the cream colored wolf to feel like she was. Of course they would remember her smell if they encountered her again, and she had no intention of never even knowing the name of the beautiful wolf she had watched for so long. She stepped forward, intending to meet them midway, and perhaps keep some of her pride.

Iksu watched as the other wolf approached them. The other wolf was very pretty, but it still seemed odd to Iksu that she had been hiding, and jusginf by her startled look, had been embarrased that she had been discovered spying.
Iksu wasn't sure if she should be frightened and run away or stand her ground. She looked over at Zusa for some hint at what they should do and somehow knew that as long as she was there with Zusa, things would somehow work themselves out.

Zusa immediately notices the cuts on the other wolf's hind leg, and a faint scent of something like licorice that keeps her on edge. She is just another adolescent wolf though, and two against one- they were in no danger if it came to that, she was sure of it. She smiled nervously at Iksu, hoping it looked more reassuring than it felt.
Coughing awkwardly into the awkward silence, Zusa realizes that the new wolf's eyes were weirdly focused on Iksu. It sent shivers down her back, and made her fur prickle with a touch of anger. "Were you.... watching us?" Her voice stayed even and neutral, as though she didn't care particularly about the answer.
But now it was plain to see the answer, as her words barely registered in Sweet Revenges's face, didn't break her gaze until a few more moments had passed. Then she looked up, caught Zusa's eye abruptly. "Hello," she said in a friendly tone. "My name is Sweet Revenge, I live just over those hills," she said, gesturing with a paw to the hills behind her. She appears not to have heard the question, and in reality has already decided that it did not merit a response.

Zusa's reassuring smile immediately calmed Isku's nerves. She knew she was safe with Zusa.
The other wolf introduced herself. Even though her appearance was a little...different to say the least, her voice sounded sweet and innocent enough...despite the fact that she was most definitely spying on them. Maybe she's just lonely and wants friends, Isku tried to convince herself.
"Hi!", Isku greeted the other wolf and tried to mask her worries. "I'm Isku, and this is my best friend, Zusa." She immediately lectured herself in her head after saying that. If the other wolf was lonely, that was just rude of her to rub in the fact that Zusa was her best friend.
"What brings you over this way today? We have not seen you before."

Zusa admired Iksu's grace, and tried to imitate it, returning Sweet Revenge's smile, when Iksu introduced her, even though she was still uneasy.
"I've been around," she says vaguely, having no desire to admit to PAST spying. She holds Zusa's gaze for only a moment, then smiles warmly at Iksu as she speaks. Iksu... a beautiful name. Her voice was sweet too, making her think of sugar-dusted treats of some kind. "Nothing in particular, though, brings me here, simply getting out of the den. This place is very... beautiful," she says the last bit softly, holding Iksu's gaze still.
Zusa shifted her paws beneath her, feeling very awkward. She was quite sure she was becoming very unwelcome, very quickly, that Sweet Revenge was putting more meaning into her words than there actually was. This new wolf wanted to be alone with Iksu, and she was beginning to think perhaps she should give them their privacy if Iksu wanted it, but as she looked to Iksu to see her reaction to this, or if she even noticed, her heart ached in a new way. She didn't just mistrust Sweet Revenge... she was afraid. Sweet Revenge WAS beautiful, though not like Iksu. She was afraid she might try to steal her friend.... her Iksu...

"Yes, this place is indeed very beautiful", she looked over at Zusa shifting around very uncomfortably. In all truth, Sweet Revenge seemed harmless enough, just a little odd and awkward. Iksu desperately just wanted to run off with Zusa and be alone with her again.
But, alas...Iksu was just too nice to run away from someone who had given her no legitimate reason to (other than being a lil creepy quite frankly, and that could have just been her imagination, which often got the best of her).
"Well, it was nice to meet you, Sweet Revenge. We're gonna get going here. See ya around again, maybe?" Iksu bowed politely and turned to walk away with Zusa.

Zusa sighs with relief as Iksu turns away from Sweet Revenge. She steps away, prepared to follow Iksu with a lighter heart. But she notices a certain look in Sweet Revenge's eyes as she turns away, a desperately lovestruck look, and she knows they aren't free of her yet.
"But wait," she says, stepping quickly around them, "We've only just met, milady, won't you let me get to know you?" She was clearly speaking to Iksu only, and she heard Zusa's light growl, not-too-well hidden. "You are very lovely," she says in a near-whisper , enjoying Zusa's discomfort. "Perhaps we could spend some time alone...?"
Zusa's blood boiled, but she waited for Iksu to respond. The fur on her neck stood on edge, and she did not hide it as her ears laid flat and her teeth bared, Iksu was in front of her and would not see anyhow. She realized now that before she had been jealous- and she would deal with that when they were alone, but now- Iksu clearly was not interested.... what was wrong with this girl?

Isku stopped where she stood. Her stomach dropped. She knew something was off about this girl. She was flattered, but frightened at the same time. She became slightly annoyed that this girl hadn't taken the hint. Iksu's heart belonged to another, even though the other wolf couldn't possibly know.
"I'm...", she took a deep breath trying to figure out how to say this without causing any issues...."I'm afraid that my heart is with another wolf right now. I'm...sorry", she muttered softly and lowered her head.

Zusa looks in surprise toward Iksu... my heart is with another wolf.... But who? Zusa and Iksu were... inseperable usually, how could she find the time to have another..? A stab of pain shot through her midsection, and she almost forgets about Sweet Revenge entirely.
Sweet Revenge growls at the response, lowers her head and her ears, as if about to attack. She dislikes rejection very much, and she IS a dangerous wolf. She wonders how ready to use those teeth Zusa might be... but then Zusa wasn't paying any attention now, was she? Clearly she was too wrapped up in her obvious feelings for Iksu to even notice her.
Finally Zusa looks up, and sees Sweet Revenge deliberating on whether or not to attack, and she snaps. She darts around Iksu, placing herself between the two, and dashes forward, knocking Sweet Revenge sideways with her shoulder. Sweet Revenge goes down alright, but she manages to sink her teeth into Zusa's neck.
She gets up and grins, her muzzle stained with blood, and she turns to leave, head and tail held high. If she can't have Iksu, at least she left her mark on her competition, and she considers that a win.
Zusa growls as Sweet Revenge leaves. She doesn't want to go after her, she only wants to be alone with Iksu. Her neck doesn't even hurt, its not a deep bite. She sighs once they are alone.
