Name
Alexander James Rogers
Age
26
Info
Identical twin and poler opposite of his brother Ben. Though they have been known to finish each other's sentances on occation. Before the storm Alex had played Violin, and when his cousin started up the orphanage he took cue from his brother to get together a group to help supply it.

He's known for his carelessness when addressing the crimson, a group almost always mentioned in whisper and is prone to loud outbursts in quiet situation, also, Alex almost always speaks with a hint of aggrivation in his voice.

Likes
Leather jackets, sunshine, annoying his twin brother, singing loudly (don't tell anyone)

Dislikes
Being told what to do, failure, bullies, eating his vegetables

Misses
Sunsets that aren't creepy, the violin (he hasn't found one since the storm), ice cream sundays

Occupation
Scavanger. Alex leads a small group of brave and rowdy folk who sleep where they can, and collect supplies for city shelters.

Occupational Hazards
Death, dismemberment, severe injury.

Weapon of Choice
- Old single action revolvers (but amo is a limited commodity)
- Whatevers laying around and swings like a baseball bat

Motivations
Everyone reacts to crisis and adversity differently. The best way Alex knows to deal with it is to flip adversity off and growl in its face. He deals with the catastrophic change in his world by focusing very intensely on surviving and helping other people survive.
He feels a strong drive to shelter his twin and Elena, and he feels that he is the toughest of the three so he takes on the dirtiest toughest jobs to save them from having to.

Strength
Alex is smart, and thinks fast on his feet. He's brave, and will not hesitate to protect others. He cares very deeply for his friends even if he tends not to show it.

Weakness
Reckless and a touch overconfident. Easily irritated and somewhat standoffish. Tends to keep himself at a distance even from people he cares about.

Little scraps of notes
Alex keeps a little battered notebook as a journal. Its less of a diary and more of a log book, but every now and then an odd entry of personal significance jumps out.

He also tends to keep lists and things, sometimes writing down requests of needed supplies from various places to keep track of them.

And inspite of the fact that he rarely ACTS as if he likes anyone, he has a tendancy to bring back a pretty good number of 'gifts' along with the necessary items.

Its a dirty job, but somebody has to do it:

Info on Alex and his groups work and daily routine. Things that all Misfit's would know, and things that they could find out with some effort.

"Scavangers"

"Ninety percent of the time you're out there being a crazy vigilante... the other one percent you find things to bring back for us. You know it, and I know it."
In the chaos after the storm, the only way to live is to scavange. Most shelters now keep small gardens, but in the destroyed urban wasteland of concrete farming isn't very easy. As time goes by, the areas on the safer outskirts are picked cleaner and cleaner, and scavangers have to venture deeper and deeper in to crimson territory to find the necessary food, clothing, medical supplies, and other goods to keep life going.
Alex's group are a small band of brazen folk willing to risk their lives frequently, in a dare devil push farther and farther toward the city center. They tend to wear scraps of blue fabric on their arms or heads, or sewn and tied to their clothes - in a sort of anti-crimson statement of defiance. They call themselves "Treasure Hunters", but most other people refer to them as "hunters" or "blue boys".

"Daily Routine"

The Hunters use a systematic search and retrieve approach to their work.
They spend anywhere from a days to weeks scouting new locations to scavange.
Once a good location is discovered (usually an abandoned store) its systematically emptied. Rather then risk losing valuable items, the group cleans out a location as entirely as possible - sometimes leaving less immidiate needs or heavy items to come back for later. Food and medical supplies are given top priority and moved first.
The goal is to have a good store of supplies, to keep things going while new locations are scouted. Most non-essential items are collected during these 'in between' times when the group is scouting and picking through smaller stores.

"Its a Dirty Job"

Ben's expression changed, sad. "I don't want you to become food, Alex."
Scavangers come into contact with the Crimson almost daily. Every time they venture out of the safty of shelters and large groups, deeper into the city center, they risk their lives. Crimson are harder to kill then humans, and frequently move in groups. Scavangers try to avoid them when they can, and frequently they are lucky and spend days without seeing any crimson at all. However, its a certainty that every member of the group will have to fight for his or her life, probably as often as once a week. Injury is frequent, although with a hardened group like Alex's, people don't get killed nearly as often as they might.
Every single member of the Hunters travels armed, always. Frequently they carry both a firearm and a knife of some kind, and many also carry polls or other blunt force weapons.
Given the obvious danger, the group is close knit by necessity - much like a military battalion. They also cause alot of friends and family members a good amount of worry...

"Joining the Service"

It is possible to join Alex's little gang (as a player character). But he doesn't really like the idea of any of the Misfits getting into the sort of trouble he does, so he's tough on anyone who shows interest.
NO ONE is allowed to go along unless they are an adult - kids aren't allow. In spite of Alex's reticense, it must be admitted that its a dangerous job, and the casualty rate means that they could always use a few extra hands.

"Interacting with the Blue Boys"

Scavangers are generally considered the toughest of the tough, and despite many adults cautions, its easy for kids to look up to them as 'hero's' of a sort. Alex's group, however, doesn't tend to do much showing off, and they are a little bit insular. They don't stay at the shelters, and tend to camp out as a group where ever they can.
They will, however, generally be quite tolerant of people politely asking them to look out for certain things. They are the people to go to if you need anything, and they're used to people asking.

Players can use sneaking out and following Alex's crew as a way to explore this city without getting lost, or a way to find some fun RP.

Because the Scavangers are the most mobile people in Engel, they are an excellent way for a player to introduce their character to the Misfits shelter. Someone who would rather make their way to the shelter through RP then just start there may choose to use Alex and his group as a good way to introduce themselves into the RP.

I R teh NPC - Rules for Interacting with and Writing Alex

Alex is a shop run character. If you want to interact with him, PM this account (Alexander.Rogers) or post a guild thread with "ATTN ALEX" in the title.

If you wish to include Alex in a written segment you are doing, go for it. HOWEVER, if you want him to be more then a guest appearance or a background character, it may be better if you ask to RP with him instead.

If you DO write Alex into a story, please stick with the info posted here, and try to avoid too many plot assumptions - as the shop may have magical secret plans you don't know about! Yes WE ARE SNEAKY!

Have good judgement. Do NOT abuse the freedom to write Alex into short stories without RPing with him - inventing personal relationships for him all on your own, turning him into an antagonist for a complicated plot, etc. As much as Alex is meant to facilitate creative writing and RP within the Misfit community, don't use him to replace actually RPing with OTHER owners!

If you ask Alex how he lost his eye...
He will tell you he hasn't, he just likes to look like a pirate.

Most people suspect he's lying about that.

No, he will not show you what's under it.

Yes, he will get annoyed if you ask about it.
