I'm sure we've all had the debate about holding it in vs. not before. I'm wondering what you guys thought about it...personally I think it you hold it in, you get higher. More time to absorb.

Actually in recent weeks of researching the sweet leaf I had also been questioning this, however I heard that over 90% of all THC absorbed into the bloodstream from your lungs takes place within the first 5 seconds of an inhale, so now whenever I visit the garden of weedin' I only inhale and hold for about 5 seconds then exhale, it also gives me self satisfaction that I'm not wasting weed when I'm baked.

When you breathe in, your lungs instantly begin to draw whatever is in them into your bloodstream. The longer you hold it in the more your lungs draw into your bloodstream. If you simply smoke it like a cigarette then you are wasting it.

Maybe I just like to conserve, but when I smoke I'd rather get 100% of all the THC in it, or at least as close to that number as possible. There are other chemicles other than THC that are involved in getting you high.

I've never had it really work for me. Was always told to inhale, hold it in the mouth (not lungs, something about the whole nose-mouth thing would seep it through your nasal passage to the lungs) and exhale.
It doesn't work on me that way. Never even got the damn munchies.

Well, I'm sure 100% of the THC could be absorbed within another second if it only takes 5 to absorb 90-95% of it into your lungs. From this moment on I inhale then hold for 6 seconds, then exhale.

I hold it in for at least 10 seconds, and sometimes as long as 30. But the best way to make sure none is wasted is to hotbox a car or small room. The more people, the better. Plus, it's always fun to get stoned with a bunch of people, because you can be sure you aren't the only one acting like an idiot.

Thanks for all the replies. From what I've read, I'll be sure to hold it in for 10 seconds, at least. What could that hurt?

Sometimes I hold it in for as long as 30 as well, my lungs are in horrible shape and I'm slightly asthmatic, so even 30 is a chore for me. The best place to hotbox is definately a small bathroom with about 5-10 people, then you turn the shower on super hot and the steam and smoke mix, I've heard this called "Jamaican hotboxing" before, all I know is it tends to work better than normal hotboxing.

That actually sounds pretty good. My lung capacity is ok, considering that in the past I've had asthma so bad that I couldn't go outside without having an attack. It's actually gotten better since I've started smoking weed. I have no idea why and anyone I've told about it tells me that I must be some kind of freak (although they usually say it nicer than that).

Steam diffuses smoke so it gets rid of a lot of it in the air. It's better to use steam when you are trying not to have smoke come pouring out when you open the door. Regularily just breathing the used smoke in the air works best. An automobile is definently the best place as they are pretty much sealed off from the outside.

I have no idea why and anyone I've told about it tells me that I must be some kind of freak (although they usually say it nicer than that). I can't direct quote my psych book but it listed Asthma as one of the things that marijuana has been listed to help. I couldn't tell you why right off but I could find the information. Edit: Here's some http://www.cannabisnews.com/news/thread7749.shtmlEdit numero 2: Quote: Helpful for asthma patients Many in the palliative care field think marijuana may play a key role in making dying patients more comfortable in their final days. "Our guess is that it will not be a magic bullet but it may in fact ... improve the quality of life towards the end of life," says Allan Best, a health services researcher at Vancouver General Hospital. The use of cannabis might have a two-fold benefit, he suggests. In addition to alleviating pain and nausea, it may reduce the need for some other pain killers and analgesics that "typically have very uncomfortable side-effects associated with them." According to anecdotal evidence, it ameliorates conditions that feature spasticity and tremors. People with multiple sclerosis and Tourette's report that it helps them. Although smoking is considered an irritant for asthma, some asthmatics report that marijuana helps their condition. Why? Grinspoon says the cannabinoids -- the chemicals that make up cannabis -- in marijuana dilate the bronchial tubes that constrict during an asthma attack. Cannabis has been reported to lower the eye pressure of glaucoma and help stave off the crippling pain of an attack of Crohn's disease. People who suffer bipolar disorder -- often called manic depressives -- say it moderates their giddy highs and lifts their crushing lows taken from: http://www.canoe.ca/Health0008/09_pot.html

Drickt and I certainly have stories about that... I prefer it because then if I can't hold it in for some reason then you don't really lose anything because you're just going to breathe it back in, but you should always be careful about when and where you smoke, especially in a car
