~Can you turn my black roses, red?~
It has been rather silent in this sub forum for a while now, so I now pose to you this challenge. I will design two characters, one female, and one male. Each will have a different background story and personality, but the goal is still the same. You must create a character that can turn his/her "black roses, red". In short, you have to, as a character, ease my character's pain and suffering, help them with life problems and decisions, and ideally show them it's okay to love again.

~Rules and Guidelines~ 一When engaged in this challenge, you will remain in character at all times. This means you will write as that character. "Getting into character" in this sense, means simply this. You will write in the third person omniscient. You will write what your character is doing and what they are thinking as they are doing it. This being said, there are standard formats for thoughts and flash backs. This is established here to keep anyone from being confused.
-The speech of your character is to ONLY be be in quotes in the grammatically correct fashion. Do NOT italicize your character's normal dialogue.
-All normal thoughts are to be italicized. Do NOT but them in quotes or just change the color as that is not following these guidelines.
-All flash-backs are to be formatted to be "gray" in color. The code for that is simple.[color=gray]Insert your flashback here[/color] -You will be expected to make a "fabulous" posting code for when your character posts, so having a color for full text is okay, but all flashbacks are still mandatorily gray.
二You are not, under any circumstances, allowed to force your character upon he or she that you are pursuing. This mainly covers: acts of violence (murder, abuse, rape, ect.), drunkening of the characters in order to obtain information, molestation and other questionable acts of this nature. You may try and hold a character's hand or kiss them, but I make no promises you won't be slapped. twisted
三You may make more than one character for each challenge, but that might just be shooting yourself in the foot as it will give your objective character (mine) more choices and possible love interests, making them confused and or indifferent. This being said, for each character you create, you must create a profile for each and submit it to L_J_Rose for approval. You also must make a posting code of sorts that includes the picture you have chosen for your character.
四I expect you to have a well rounded back-story for you character, but please, for the love of god, don't over do, or under do it. This means you can't have overly dramatic, long drawn out back-stories that contain material above the level of PG13. However, you can have no less than one paragraph (that's five whole sentences people) about your character's history.
五Be active! Each week of posts in this thread will be equal to one day in the life of my characters. This is regulated for the sake of "Journal Entries" and "Leader Board" standings. The more you interact with the characters, the higher the likelihood they will favor you in their Journals.
六Journal Entries and the Leader Board: How it works
~Each of my Characters will be keeping a Journal that will be posted in weekly in real time, daily in RP time.
~Journal Entries will contain personal thoughts of characters my characters have interacted with, as well as a summary of events.
~Journal Entries are not to be commented on in the actual Journal thread, only in the OOC thread for the activity.
~The Leader Board is the record of who is currently winning this challenge. Posted on the leader board will be the top five character's names, the name of the gaian posting as them, and the reason for their position on the board.
~The leader board is based solely on the feelings of my characters.
~The leader board is to be discussed only in the OOC thread, not here or in Journals.
~~Optionally, you can create a Journal for your character if you so desire to record thoughts and summaries of the past week of roleplaying.
七Even though thought are to be posted, at no time are you allowed to react to the thoughts as your character. You are not a mind-reader or have a magical ability to tell what my characters are thinking a feeling when they are smiling over their pains and misery. You CAN NOT show up and act like you already know everything about them since clearly you would not as you are not them. You are only allowed to be an old friend if you get special permission. In other words, you WILL NOT AND CAN NOT know and react to things that wouldn't be obvious in real life situations.

--Ryo began his parent's chosen path before mandatory years of school, attending "Happy Language Academy" where they have half Japanese speaking staff and half English speaking staff. The drive in enrolling him at his place was to get him used to the sound of English.
-Elementary School: Academy of Cultural Tolerance and Understanding--Minato-ku, Tokyo Japan
--At the age of five, Ryo was sent to his elementary school, just a step up from "Happy Language Academy". Located in the rich area of Minato-ku Tokyo, only the wealthiest of children attended classes here. At this school, Ryo established his English fluency as well as Japanese. He took interest in foreign cultures and affairs, particularly, old Hollywood style cinema.
-Middle School: 桜学院--Kawasaki Japan
--A fairly typical Japanese middle school, Ryo put his study of English Language and foreign cinema on the back burner to strap down and study his core classes a bit harder. At this point, his parents also encouraged him to study more in the way of business so that he might be of more use to them as he got older.
-High School: Tokyo International Academy--Ota-ku, Tokyo Japan
--After studying general subjects and business through middle school, Ryo scored high enough on his entrance exam to be accepted to Tokyo International Academy. His interest in foreign culture and cinema still lingered even though his family wanted him to study foreign business and affairs. Ryo Graduated at the top of his class and with a very promising future ahead of him.
-College: テンプル大学--Minato-ku, Tokyo Japan
--Currently in his second year of studies at this school, Ryo has left his major undeclared as he takes all of his core classes.Family:
Father: Shotaro Inokazi
-Shotaro was born into his wealth, raised to take over his family's company, and was perfectly content with this existence. Sho always had a brain for business, which lead to his marriage to Minami.
Mother: Minami Inokazi
-Minami was born the daughter of a wealthy business man. Since she was born female and third in the family, her two older brother's had a hold on the family business, and her best option was to marry well. She had always wanted to be a housewife, so marrying Shotaro was an obvious decision for her. She fell very much so in love with him, and he was a man her father would respect as a son-in-law.
Younger Brother: Izumi Inokazi
-Izumi is three years younger than Ryo and is somewhat less than enthused about life. Since Sakura and Ryo set the bar to high for succeeding, he found it to be far better to just give up before anyone could accuse him of failing. Izumi doesn't care at all about grades or his family's business, he just wants to be a visual kei rockstar.
Older Sister: Sakura Inokazi
-Sakura is two years older than Ryo and is NOT a very warm and loving person at all. She was born for business and will do anything to get the family business ahead. Since she is family, Shotaro comes down hard on her every time she makes a mistake, so she is very strict, harsh and has zero tolerance for incompetence.
Younger sister: Yumichika (Yumi) Inokazi
-Yumi is Ryo's favorite family member as she is still as sweet as ever even though she's just turned thirteen. The girl admires her older brothers and sister, but seems to be a bit of a spacecase, daydreaming all day about god knows what. Yumi's grades are still at the top of her class, but her parents give her hell about looking like a dumb blond. (She bleached her hair and Sho does not approve! After all, it's his "baby girl"!)
Bio: Ryo was raised in a wealthy family with one older sister, one younger brother and one younger sister. He participated in language exchange programs and is completely fluent in both English and Japanese. In his high school years, he was the class president and a member of the foreign films club. He also worked part time at Starbucks(because he's bilingual, they hired him on the spot). He currently still works at at Starbucks while attending テンプル大学 an American University, tutoring foreign students in Japanese, and native Japanese students in English. Ryo also attends gatherings for his family's business and occasionally signs contracts with foreign countries overseas for his father. He lives in the International Plaza in Tokyo since the rest of his family are in different places. His mother holds down the fort in there lovely new home in Shibuya with Yumi. Izumi was shipped off to an all boy's school in Yokohama. Sakura is busy running branches of the family business in other countries as Shotaro is manning the branches throughout Japan and the rest of southeast Asia. Ryo still dreams of leaving Japan someday to be a movie director.

-Starbucks Coffee: Having worked here since freshman year of high school, Ryo still works as a bilingual staff member at Starbucks in the evenings every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
-International Language Academy: Ryo works teaching both English and Japanese to clients he meets through International Language Academy. Since he speaks both languages fluently and with correct pronunciation and accent, he spends most of his mornings teaching, as well as Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
-Family Business: He doesn't really get paid for this nonsense, but he gets free visits to that states sometimes to sign contracts and make deals with foreign companies.

--Alyssa was shipped off to elementary school along with the rest of her kids in her neighborhood at the age of five. At this point, life was still pretty much the same, less bible-sucking aside.

--A typical middle school for the suburbs, Alyssa got the snot beat out of her the first week of school, got shoved into about five different lockers through the course of her eighth grade year and begged her mother to home school her.
-High School: Barto High
--After the long periods of being severely disliked throughout middle school, the frighteningly Gothic kids of high school took her in as practically their little pet. They treated her with tenderness, more so than they regarded on another.

--Alyssa currently has no idea what she wants to do with her life.Family:
Father: David Bowman
-David is a nervous store manager who works ways more than he should. He always goes the extra mile, hoping to appease his boss, but only gets a further hit to the face for any small thing he does wrong.
Mother: Kelly Bowman
-Kelly worked in a large office building at the other side of town before the business went under, leaving her jobless and depressed. She spends most of her time locked in the master bedroom, sobbing and watching soaps.
Bio: Alyssa currently works two part time jobs to try and help support her family since her mother is a nut-case since she lost her job and her father is just a failure at life. In general, he's not a very happy person, feeling in general, rather useless even though she holds all the skills to be the perfect housewife someday.
Current Location: Her parent's house, the middle of nowhere, PA.
Employment:
-Redner's Groceries: Aylssa has worked here since she turned sixteen and doesn't exactly love it. Over the summer breaks, she generally worked night shifts doing loading duties.
-Hard Bean Cafe: She picked up this job just a year ago for the times she couldn't work at the grocery store. The staff and customers seem to love how she works, so at least it gives her one reason to smile.

~Accepted Profiles~ ~For Ryo~  Name: Lexington –Lexy- Station Sutherland
Age: 20
Birthday: April 21st.
Height: 5” 6’
Hometown: Manhattan, New York.
Occupation: Aspiring journalist, currently working as a waitress.
Bio: Lexington –thus named as she was conceived in Lexington Station- was raised in a small Manhattan flat that smelled strongly of cat pee. Her two ‘loving’ parents paid her little to no attention on a daily basis, leaving her to fend for herself. It was always Lexy who bought the groceries, made the dinner, did the dishes and cleaned the house, and, at the end of the day, she’d go to bed to read her favourite book: Cinderella. She always believed she’d turn out the same way – I mean, their lives were similar enough, weren’t they? She spent ages and ages waiting on that royal ball, that charming prince, the fairy godmother, but they never came. Lexy went to high school like any other girl, but still no ‘happily ever after’ –her only long term boyfriend cheated on her with a cheerleader (ugh). These types of stories usually make strong, responsible girl, but Lexy seemed to be an exception- while she had excellent grades, she tended to spend late nights out in bars completely wasted, a few friends and a fake I.D. her only companions. She spent her last years in high school poring over brochures for colleges, working more and more overtime at the local Starbucks to afford something far away. The time came to apply to your colleges and Lexy wrote up her applications, set on going to Yale or Oxford with a major in English, but she changed her mind when her father threw a wine bottle at her head (fortunately he missed)- Neither were far enough away from here. Having studied Japanese for years, she chose a school in Tokyo named Temple University, using up all her savings. She aims to be a journalist –preferably a food critic- but until then she’s stuck waiting tables.
