This the Hyrule Castle Market. As you can see it has been destroyed and the few buildings left standing serve as refuge from the Unknown Forces's minions. Most of the towns people learned how to wield a blade for their defense but sadly their training doesn't match the dark minions.
The market also serves as a first line of defense for the Unknown Force. Evil creatures often wander the Market in search of brave souls to slaughter.
